This is our 12th(!) stay at the Wheatsheaf - we absolutely love it. A great location in a beautiful little village, and a good base for exploring further afield - plus lots of scenic walks. The rooms at the Inn are clean and very comfortable, the breakfasts are excellent and will set you up for the day, and I would recommend trying the meals as they are just so tasty! The steak pie is a favourite, and the fish and chips are just delicious - but do book as it can get very busy.
We've stayed at many hotels and Inns in the UK - some hugely expensive ones too, but for us, the Wheatsheaf is up there among the very best, which is why we keep returning!

The room was very comfy and beautifully equipped. The setting is amazing, a lovely place to stay.
We enjoyed our dinner and breakfast which was also of a high quality. The cheese and mushroom omelette was outstanding.

Very modern but with a cottage feel that matched the property. The quality of the furniture, appliances and accessories was high. Lovely apartment to relax and be close to everything.
Relaxed and friendly staff. Lovely and peaceful location.
The meals we had were very tasty with plenty to eat. It was great to see Summer Pudding on the menu. Bought back memories of mum’s summer pudding 😀
Very good value for money. Definitely stop there again.
Everything. Beautiful house with well equipped rooms in the courtyard with plenty of seating for guests. I think all the rooms had small fridges which was handy to keep snacks in if you didn't want to go out in the evening. It turned out well for us as some of the the other guests did the same so we had good chat
JANE, the owner and her staff, who were her friends and neighbours, were lovely, very friendly, very relaxed. It was like being with friends.
Did what we needed it to do for one night, allowed dogs, good location for town centre, park and river to walk dog. Small, secluded garden to relax with morning coffee in sunshine. Lovely views of town.
Our stay was absolutely amazing! The facilities were excellent, with plenty of outdoor space to soak up the view and watch the wildlife. The cabin itself was lovely and cosy, perfect for watching a film and looking out into the trees. It's the perfect place to relax and switch off - we'll definitely be back!
Fantastic place- lovely cottage with amazing grounds. Our kids really enjoyed playing outside and we loved sitting in nature soaking in the countryside. When the weather allowed, the seating area is perfect for outdoor meals/drinks. Cottage spotlessly clean and very comfortable. Hosts amazing - we felt very welcome and relaxed. Excellent stay. Thank you.
The service and staff - we enjoyed our anniversary stay here and they very kindly gave us a complimentary upgrade - thank you again for that.
In addition, it was a spectacular manor with a very grand theme, set within amazing grounds with local wildlife. Complimentary cake was lovely as was the sherry(!) and the bed was very comfortable. Breakfast was tasty with excellent, personable service all round.
