The Wheatsheaf Inn, hotel in Richmond

The Wheatsheaf Hotel is set in the beautiful Yorkshire Dales National Park. The restaurant serves dishes made using local recipes and produce, and the bar serves real ales.

This is our 12th(!) stay at the Wheatsheaf - we absolutely love it. A great location in a beautiful little village, and a good base for exploring further afield - plus lots of scenic walks. The rooms at the Inn are clean and very comfortable, the breakfasts are excellent and will set you up for the day, and I would recommend trying the meals as they are just so tasty! The steak pie is a favourite, and the fish and chips are just delicious - but do book as it can get very busy. We've stayed at many hotels and Inns in the UK - some hugely expensive ones too, but for us, the Wheatsheaf is up there among the very best, which is why we keep returning!

Everything. Beautiful house with well equipped rooms in the courtyard with plenty of seating for guests. I think all the rooms had small fridges which was handy to keep snacks in if you didn't want to go out in the evening. It turned out well for us as some of the the other guests did the same so we had good chat JANE, the owner and her staff, who were her friends and neighbours, were lovely, very friendly, very relaxed. It was like being with friends.

Our stay was absolutely amazing! The facilities were excellent, with plenty of outdoor space to soak up the view and watch the wildlife. The cabin itself was lovely and cosy, perfect for watching a film and looking out into the trees. It's the perfect place to relax and switch off - we'll definitely be back!

The service and staff - we enjoyed our anniversary stay here and they very kindly gave us a complimentary upgrade - thank you again for that. In addition, it was a spectacular manor with a very grand theme, set within amazing grounds with local wildlife. Complimentary cake was lovely as was the sherry(!) and the bed was very comfortable. Breakfast was tasty with excellent, personable service all round.
