Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta, Iceland, Australia, Greece, Brazil and North Carolina. For properties in these regions, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

South AfricaCan't think of anything I didn't like. The food is not gourmet but is fresh and plentiful.
The location is great and its lovely seeing the wildlife on your drive into the camp. Love the sounds of the bush from your tent overnight and in the early morning.

South AfricaFood not 5 star but quite acceptable for the price.
Nice setup in the bush, comfortable tents. Wonderful swimming pool. Early morning walks with Martin very informative with lots of animals - nyalas, impalas, zebras, giraffes and hippos!

South AfricaThe menu could be broadened a bit, too stiff. The showers not very coordinated, very little hot water and couldn't mix, it was either cold or too hot
I loved the morning walks, Martin the guide is so passionate and enthusiastic and makes the walks very fun and educational. He is so welcoming and easy to talk to. Loved the tents and the privacy of each tent. Loved the animals and seeing them roaming freely around us

South AfricaThe staff were amazing, especially Martin the lodge manager, who went out of his way to make our stay extra special and Ntokozo who was so friendly and helpful at all times. We enjoyed the meals, all freshly prepared by Ntokozo, and the portions were more than enough. We spent many hours around the pool, which was a saving grace in the heat

United KingdomNot obvious from details that you really need a 4x4 to access the property as on sand tracks which can get wet and muddy with ruts - easy to get stuck. Also no information about what to do at the electric gates. More signage on the road in as google takes you down the wrong track which is only drivable with a 4x4 so there should be a sign that states to carry on straight and not turn there
Great host - Martin - was so welcoming and helpful and great walking guide in the mornings. Even pulled me out of the mud when I got stuck in the car1 Tents were very well done and very comfy.

SwitzerlandThe Zululand is like a little Island in the Wild but completely fitting in. The Main tent, the Pool and the Panorama View are all in walking distance from the tents, however you still have your good Privacy. The Sleeping tent is is prefectly placed with the right amount of space to keep cocy but comfortable. The Washroom units are solid and hygienic. Overall good for slowing out in the wild and absolutely worth it.

South AfricaHaving a little table to make coffee or tea in the tents could be a nice touch but I’m not sure how it would work with the space available.
Guided walks, breakfast and dinner each day. Such a privilege to visit Zululand Lodge. I’ll definitely be back.

GermanyStaying in the Zululand-Lodge was an amazing experience. We stayed in many, many different accommodations during our round trip through South Africa, but this one is one of the places that probably sticks to our minds the most. The camp was beautifully furnished and the tents were very comfortable. We slept very well and enjoyed being woken up by birds singing. Walking through the park and observing the hippos was magical. Martin was the most hospitable manager. He cared for us like a good friend. All in all, it was an absolutely beautiful stay and we would definitely love to come back one day!

South AfricaAll good.
It was a pleasure to not worry about cooking or anything like that. Just time to chill and enjoy the beautiful sounds of the bush and watch the animals meander past the tent. Our guide Phumzile Ncube was fantastic and very knowledgeable. We enjoyed our time shooting the breeze around the dinner table with him. All the staff ,kitchen and housekeeping were great . Recommend highly if you want to get away from it all and unwind.

United KingdomThe staff were rather off hand. The drive in was challenging on muddy unmade roads. Not too bad in a 4X4 but not recommended in a minibus - our fault!
The location was exceptional - really deep bush! Martin was very knowledgeable and engaging. The bush walk was a real experience, but the weather was against us with unseasonal rain making game viewing difficult and VERY muddy.
