Our room, hallways and pool area were looking tired and in need of a clean. Actually the second day we were there the hallways were being cleaned.

The location, restaurants and staff were excellent. Staff were very helpful.

The room we had was next to the garden where people were lounging, so it was a bit noisy. I guess nothing much can be done with this given the location of the room.

Th fact that the hotel had a free shuttle service to and from the train station and Nelson Mandela square was phenomenal. It was very convenient to shuttle between the Jazz Festival, Nelson Mandela Square and the hotel.

The room had a door linking to another room. I could hear the tv and conversations of the neighbouring room clearly, noisy and did not feel private.

Very noisy room, chatty staff members, and doorslamping each time they opened and closed the door. I believe my room was closed to a staff room. Room 1209.

The hotel has a wonderful central garden which is an oasis in the busy City. Great location and welcoming and helpful staff. We had a few issues and the staff accommodated our requirements.

We cld hear noises from next room... Cldnt charge my phone ..requested for an adaptor and was told the guy whose ""sells"" them hd knocked off.. Invest in adaptors Protea....

We stayed in a 2bdrm suite and encountered the following: ) Room design / placement of light switches isn't ideal from a design perspective 2) Complimentary drinking water is of limited qty 3) Limited vegetarian options in the breakfast buffer 4) Despite informing the reception at time of check-in that we had lost one of our bags - they didn't offer to help with emergency supplies until we asked for help...

The location is awesome. The Protea Hotel by Marriott Johannesburg Balalaika Sandton is located close to Marc Shopping Centre, a place with a well-equipped gym, fantastic restaurants such as Wok and Roll - Korean cuisine with incredible food, very tasty soups and sushi; and Ribs and Burgers - one of the best places to eat ribs and burgers. The Protea Hotel by Marriott Johannesburg Balalaika Sandton also has the Bull Run restaurant inside, with incredible food. The hotel also offers a free shuttle service for transportation to and from the Hotel to Nelson Mandela Square, an incredible shopping mall, for a wonderful shopping experience and also the opportunity to try various types of Korean, Chinese, Italian food and Greek. culinary flavors.
