Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta, Iceland, Australia, Greece, Brazil and North Carolina. For properties in these regions, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

South AfricaAbsolutely nothing to complain about.
Everything about our stay at Pecan Tree was amazing. Phillip treated us like royalty... the amount of effort that he puts in to make one's stay amazing, needs to be applauded. The cottage is perfect for a long stay... it's got everything you'll need. We will definately see Phil again and this time we'll stay a lot longer.

South AfricaLoved everything. No complaint what so ever . It was a stunning romantic weekend away, I would come back in a heart beat, if Philip would have us .
I loved the style of the house, and that it had everything you ever could think of needing. I loved that we were welcomed by Philip the lovely host, with a cheese platter and wine. I loved the kolkol woodfire hot tub. I loved our view and the sunshine from the stoop, I loved that we could go hiking just by walking out the door. I loved the local market on Saturday in the main road of the town. I loved the beautiful scenic hikes

South AfricaNothing at all
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Pecan Tree Corrage. The apartment was lovely and clean and had everything that we needed to make our stay as comfortable as possible. The cottage is on the outskirts of Montagu and is overlooking vineyards. So nice and peaceful. The host was extremely helpful and supplied us with a lot of very useful information wrt places to go and places to see. He even booked us a table at a nearby restaurant for the evening. The fridge was stocked with cheese, pickles, wine and a freshly baked loaf of bread. What a surprise.!!! Can definitely recommend this stay.

South AfricaAnything under the "Did not like" category would honestly be nitpicking or related to personal preference. Our stay was next to perfect and we wish we could've stayed longer and were more lucky with the weather. If you are interested in the small nitpicking (which honestly doesn't impact your stay at all), the iron seems a little old and works slow; but still did a perfect job. When you use the bath, the water is nice and warm for a minute or so, then turns very cold and then warms up again and works fine. All you need is a bit of patience until the water gets warm properly. And my pc charger didn't fit in any of the plugs but it's a bit of a weird size anyway.
Philip messaged well beforehand with all details needed and included some very good tips for stops along the way. Shortly after arrival he came to greet and make sure everything was in order as well as gave mor tips on possible activities in the surrounding arreas. Upon arrival there was a cheese platter and bottle of wine; some sweets; freshly baked bread and homemade muffins. Every single one of them absolutely delicious! Everthing in the house you could possibly need is proved. More spice than I have seen at other places (usually only pepper and salt), different types of coffee, fresh milk and butter, musquito spray, plug adapters, extra blankets... When it comes to self-catering units this is without a doubt the place with the most stuff available so you can travel light. There are towels, soap, shampoo, conditioner and even tooth paste. There's a hair dryer, an iron with ironing board, all braai equipment except wood, spices, pots, pans, bowls, books, board games, touristic information, musquito spray... I could go on. The couch is probably the most comfortable couch I have ever sat on in my life, without exagerration. I could go on and on; but the bottom line is that the high score is extremely deserved and you won't regret staying here. If anything, you'll regret not booking for a longer stay.

South AfricaThe driveway is the only SLIGHT negative as it is very tight for larger vehicles, but again Pihilip gives good advice on the best way to maneuver this.
Philip is an exceptional host. The extra touches such as the delicious cheese platter and wine on arrival and the freshly baked muffins on departure clearly show what a wonderful host he is. He gave us great advice on places worth visiting too. The cottage is beautifully decorated and meets all needs. The washing machine was a real win. Added features such as the pool and bicycles make this a MUST for your next stay.

South AfricaA real gem and very clean and lovely place in a quiet street. An amazing platter and good wine welcomed us. The staff, Rentia is a friendly, warm person. It was my husbands birthday and he was surprised with huge tasty cupcakes which showed the thoughtfulness of the owners. We loved the shower and also the splash pool with it’s stunning view of the mountains. Everything in the apartment is lovely and good quality. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay!

South AfricaThe only thing lacking for us was a HDMI cable(something we forgot to bring along) which Philip was more than happy to help us with as soon as we asked.
The moment we arrived, we were treated to welcoming snacks and a cheeseboard. Philip & Sheryl really go out of their way to make sure your stay is both comfortable & pleasant. Philip also helped a lot with suggestions of things to do in the area. The property is even more beautiful than the photos suggest & fully equipped with everything you need during your stay, from loadshedding lights & candles to fresh milk, water & a lovely bottle of sparkling juice left in the fridge to enjoy. On the morning we left Sheryl baked muffins which we were also given to enjoy with our last cup of coffee.
