Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta, Iceland, Australia, Greece, Brazil and North Carolina. For properties in these regions, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

We stayed there for 3 nights with a friend... Our experience was simply PEFECT : localisation, room, garden, sunset view, kindness of the staff... It's a 10/10 ! Special note for the food quality : during our 3 week stay in South Africa, it was, by far, the best meals we ever had ! We will definitely come back to Ashbourne for our next trip to Kruger :)

We loved the view we had from our stoep, the privacy we had during our stay was fantastic. The chalet is well equipped and spending quality time with the fire burning is priceless. To have the option for dinner at the restaurant is also great. all the staff is super friendly and helpful, Thanks Rob we had a great time and will most definitely tell all the people we know and next time we will bring friends

BelgiumNothing really
A lot of small places to relax so that a spot was never crowded. Breakfast and dinner outside. Excellent food. But most of all a top host. With a lot of humour and in-depth knowledge of both the area and running a B&B he could guide us in an excellent way on our activities. His respect for his staff resulted in a harmonious atmosphere which was very enjoyable.

South AfricaThis place is absolutely gorgeous.! The white slick rooms with large windows over viewing the mountains make this a romantic haven. The best feature though was the OUTSIDE shower(it's magnificent!! I stayed over for a solo staycation and Rob, the host made me feel so welcome and comfortable. Be sure to have access to a car in order to move around and see area. Definitely would recommend.

BelgiumWe love dogs, but for people that are affraid of dogs, it might not be the best idea to come here. The pools are very nice, but not too attractive as the dogs are also entering them. We did not swim, but didn't mind.
It was just the perfect place to stay and the only one where I had to drag away my (crying) girlfriend. :) Driving up to the top of the hill feels like entering paradise. The hospitality of Rob is unmatched! Everything is possible: he planned our days, showed us around his house for the best sunset places, introduced us to his dogs, set up our private terrace with fire when the common one was getting too busy, ... The location is perfect and very convenient that you can join their 3-course diner at very honest prices whenever you want.

United KingdomVery difficult to find anything not to like, but the room could do with fly/mosquito guards at the windows/door.
Ashbourne is the perfect place to escape from the hustle and bustle of Hazyview town or after a day at Kruger to relax. Stunning sunset views and very private. The bed was so comfortable and huge. The kitchen is well equipped but we dined in the hotel restaurant. The owners were extremely friendly and informative and made us feel right at home straight away. Loved their dogs. Lovely area to stretch the legs too! Great value for money.

South AfricaThere was absolutely nothing to not like. The place is just awesome.
The breakfast was excellent. Charles, the chef was was very courteous and attended to every detail. Dinners were equally awesome. Our cottage was very spacious and had beautiful mountain views with it's own crystal clear splash pool. It was clean with white crispy sheets on a four poster bed with nets. Rob and Dawne, were excellent hosts. Rob even took the time to draw us a map, when we wanted to get to a pharmacy in town. I even forgot we had GPS. They have 5 or 6 friendly and beautiful dogs from whom you never heard a peep in the 3 nights we were there. Rob is a wealth of information for excursions around the lowveld area. The game drive he booked us on, where we saw 4 of the Big 5, was mind blowing, .

United StatesAshbourne is a truly idyllic place. Everything is designed so beautifully, you feel like you’re staying in a charming old house but with all of the modern amenities. and very nice touches such as garden showers and baths if you choose. The surrounding landscape is breathtaking, with lots of rolling green hills to look out over the horizon. Rob and Dawn are so welcoming and very helpful in giving you insights about out of the way places to visit in the area. All the meals were delicious, using only fresh ingredients skillfully prepared—including home baked bread. I can’t wait to go back!
