Not necessarily linked to the hotel, but the beaches are littered with plastics. Something which will need to be addressed as Zanzibar moves forward.

Located on the beach, the property has a relaxed friendly atmosphere. The staff were extremely helpful throughout our stay.

Everybody should do his best, to protect this beautiful piece of beach. Please don't touch any starfish or take them out of the water for just one stupid picture. They are going to die! The Beaches are very clean just close to the hotels. But the further you go, the more plastic you will see. That's so sad!!

We had a very nice welcome to this nice Hotel. Staff are very friendly. The Breakfast is good with a lot of different food. Also, dinner was very varied. This hotel is recommendable!

There was a 4 meters difference between the high and low tide, so be to enjoy the ocean for just some hours. In the area there is a reef that you can walk to in the low tide, but there are lots of sea ​​urchins to get there.

The rooms were really cosy. The breakfast and dinner were really good, with variety of choices. I would recomand booking both breakfast and dinner because there are limited options in the area. Having 2 pools and multiple locations with sun beds was really appreciated. The stuff was really nice and friendly. They make you feel at home. I loved the beach facing restaurant, it had a wonderful view to the ocean.

The beach is only good for walking, whether the tide is in or out. Even with the rubber shoes provided, several guests while we were there suffered from the sea urchin issues. I agree with most of the reviews here, but no one seems to mention the bees/wasps at breakfast! It was impossible to enjoy breakfast. We finally learned to take our food up to our balcony.

The staff is fantastic, especially Mariah working in the spa. The food was very good. If you like, you can purchase a bottle of wine at dinner and take the unfinished bottle to your room. There were always plenty of sunbeds and cabanas to choose from, plus fresh towels. The landscaping is beautiful.

All was perfect

The staying in Villa Kiva was 10/10. Just perfect. Everything worked well..Room was clean and bed was comfy. Pool and beach were very good. Lunch/dinner were great. Special thanks to Kamila who organized all..airport transportations..trip tp Nungwi beach etc.. all these and other service from her and other staff was totally perfect. Took 2 massages..Maria was so good and total pro in their Villa Kiva Spa. Will visit this place again soon for sure.

We checked in late and reception was closed, so the security guard had to give us our key and we had to figure out where things were by ourselves in the morning

More diverse breakfast.

Everything was great: very clean room, splendid location, right on the beach, good breakfast (even if it was the same every day :)), good WiFi, good dinner. Very quiet location, ideal to just rest and enjoy the beach. Spent two weeks and would have stayed longer :)) Keep in mind that it is a little bit isolated from other points of interest on the island and if you want to travel and don't want to use local means of transportation a rental car would be advisable. By the way, parking is available, free of charge and guarded.

the only thing i can say is that the mattress was hard and we asked to changed and they changed the next day (but the new one also was a little bit hard)

The hotel grounds were beautiful, it felt like paradise. There are 2 pools to choose from and plenty of sunbeds for all the guests. The restaurant had both a beach side and an enclosed side, perfect for any weather conditions. The food from the restaurant was incredible. I had a list of local restaurants to visit but we ate at the hotel for every meal as the selection was so good and the good was such high quality. It definitely did not feel like a regular hotel restaurant but a high quality restaurant in its own right. Kudos to the chef. Make sure to try their coconut and spice ice creams, we were amazed at how good they were. As good or better than real Italian gelato. They could start their own brand and start selling the stuff! The staff were all very friendly and helpful, we wish we had stayed at this hotel for the whole of our trip.

A truly beautiful place where time simply stops and it is simply a pleasure to just be there. Amazing location on the Matemwe beach, all decorated with taste and with plenty of space to simply relax. Excellent breakfasts.
