Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta, Iceland, Australia, Greece, Brazil and North Carolina. For properties in these regions, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.

we spent one week in Meru Hostel. It’s a very quiet place. All the staff is so kind, all of them are always available for any help, any questions. The most important for them is U to be comfortable and spend good time. The cook is so good ! for sure U gonna appreciate 🥰 At this place U can meet Lewis, he is a tour operator. With him we booked two tours. It was a great experience to discover Ngorongoro 🥰🥰

United StatesThe second room we stayed in did not have a toilet seat The bathrooms got flooded every time we showered. It’s also quite far from the city. But for the price, no real complaints.
The rooms were comfortable and clean. The food was yummy and the staff was helpful and kind. We stayed in 2 different rooms with safari in between. Lewis helped us book a budget safari and was a great host. The wifi was also fast and reliable.

FranceI stayed 2 weeks in Muru hostel/klub africo! Shabuni the owner is really and welcoming, asking everyday how was it and if I needed anything. I had a room just for myself with bathroom, the wifi is working in the room ! Really easy to go town. Staff helpfull, i did my laundry there, it was good too. Don't hésitate to go there is a really good place to stay! See you soon !! :D

QatarI really like the way I was welcome by Sabuni. They accomodate to your need and the place is really freindly. I would they really adapte to you. The location was perfect , next to the main road that goes to Arusha center in less yhan 2min. I really enjoyed the authentic Klub Africo where you can have drink in a very freindly spirit. The wifi was working perfectly. I would recomend this place for a short or long stay. Thank you to Meru Hostel to have made stay wonderful by accomodating to my need.

IrelandWe had an excellent stay at meru hostel, the staff are frendly, delicious food, nice bar with good vibes, the room are comfortable , also we book a tour to materuni waterfall + majimoto hot spring and safaris ..... it was the best expereance we had.. to be honest we reccomend to everyone who want a reasonable price for safaris and tour / activities with LEWIS (tour operator) from meru hostel.

Breakfast included in price. Home made delicious dinner is available at very reasonable price. Overall value is very good. Lewis picked me up from airport. Transfer charge was reasonable and Lewis was already at airport for me.
