Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta, Iceland, Australia, Greece, Brazil and North Carolina. For properties in these regions, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Probably the best hotel I ever stayed at. Driven in no small part by the staff. Shaibu the gardener. Lawi from guest relations. Joseph in the reception. Fahad and all the other amazing people in the restaurant. I had so many wonderful conversations with everyone and they were all great hosts and very professional. Thank you also to everyone where I forgot the names. I stayed with my son (13) for 5 days in a villa. Everything worked and there was attention to the smallest details. The food was great and the pool area and beach outstanding. It is a small walk - or taxi / tuk tuk ride - from central Paje but that only means a bit more peace and quiet. After staying at Kisiwa I went on to stay in central Paje on two different hotels (could not get a single place that had availability throughout) and I would stay at Kisiwa again any time. Cannot recommend it highly enough.

South AfricaThe facilities, the grounds, the pool, the resuarant, service and most importantly, the Management & Staff. Good location and beach area. Great value for money and definately highly recommended.
We had a 9-night stay at Kisiwa in September 2025. On arrival we were personally greeted by the Management and staff and it set the tone. From then onwards, they knew our names and always tried to assist and were so friendly. Each night we enjoyed a 4-course dinner (we included breakfast&dinner) that took about an hour and half. We took our time because the restaurant area is an amazing "space" and we just enjoyed the evenings and also the company of the personal waiters. Although an a la carte menu most evening, the chef cooked a seperate dish for my 4-old every night, based on what she wanted. Then there was also a barbeque night with buffet. The dinners were awesome and it was more like fine dining. The hotel and grounds are beautiful and so well kept. You can see that they are continually aiming to improve their facilities and service. Every day I saw the Manager going around with key staff addressing and discussing issues, and you could literally see that "intent' to improve. You know that if you come next time, the place and service will be even better and further improved. The location is also good and about 15min walk to Paje town along the beach, which has many beach restuarants. The pool is nice and big and great for adults & kids. The gym was a bonus as many resorts do appear to have one. The place was so tranquil and relaxing. My 4-year old was a little sick when we arrived, and on the first night my wife could not go for dinner and they prepared a meal for her and brought it to the room. They also wanted to arrange a doctor to come to the hotel to see to her, although luckily not required in the end. When we departed, it felt like we were leaving family we stayed with and not a hotel. We hired a car and the roads in Zanzibar are not the greatest, and we had a tire burst shortly after leaving the hotel. The Client Manager wanted to personally come to us to help replace the wheel when we called him.

United KingdomAbsolutely nothing. There are hawkers on the beach outside the property from time to time but considerably less than further up the beach and the security guards are very vigilant
Fabulous property on the beach with beautiful gardens - the photos don’t really do it justice. The staff are exceptional with one to one service - Khalfan could not do enough for us at meal times despite being fussy vegetarians 😃 The gardener spent time showing us around the on-site nursery and talking us through the various plants and trees on site.

Perfect location. Close to the airport and close to all adventure spots, yummy restaurants and of course the beautiful ocean. No time wasted traveling to get anywhere we wanted to go. So clean and comfortable and the staff are absolutely fantastic. Nothing was too much, they all went out of their way to make us feel so welcome.

Japan- Confused by the beach staff who only spoke to me in Swahili. - I was offered a cappuccino without any explanation that it would cost extra. - I was encouraged to eat and drink a lot that I wonder if the waiters are incentivized to make sales. I wanted them to bring me only what I asked for. - The apprentice hole staff said "Ni hao" to me without confirming my nationality, which made me uncomfortable. - Twice the food order was taken incorrectly. - Couldn't relax after being repeatedly asked to do TripAdvisor reviews. I was asked 3 times per day, which was stressful. - The ceiling of room 23 is a monkey path and very noisy. The tin roof should be made of a different material or monkeys should not be able to pass through.
Kisiwa is a self-identified luxury hotel, offering facilities and services commensurate with its price. The facility is new, clean, and adequately staffed for the number of clients. The food is also good. Not so much that I will definitely visit again next time. I have no particular complaints, but I was persistently asked for feedback, which I will provide below.

United StatesLocated in the quietest area in Paje Beach. There were no vendors trying to sell us things like there were a quarter mile up the beach. We stayed in the grand villa on the beach with a private soaking pool. The room was magnificent. Huge and pristinely clean. The entire property looked brand new. I'm guessing this has to be among the nicest, if not the nicest, properties in Paje. Guests were out numbered by staff, and the staff attended to our every need.

United KingdomExceptional from beginning to end. Their extra special seafood BBQ on the beach was the perfect finale for our honeymoon. A big shout out to the team for their warmth and outstanding hospitality, we truly felt VIP and really couldn’t have imagined anything more perfect. Other bonuses: Wifi worked on the beach. Complimentary bottles of water every day. Dinner wasn’t a buffet every night. Amazing fruit juices in the am.

United KingdomThis hotel not totally ideal for disabled people with mobility issues, lack of hand rails where steps are. No golf buggies to take the elderly and disabled around the hotel grounds.
friendly and polite staff, helpful and professional. On arrival was greeted by Benjamin who then gave us a Hibiscus drink, introduced us to the General manager, Julius who in turned introduced us to some of the staff. Impressive clean hotel with spacious rooms with bath and shower in our cottage. Lovely well maintained manicured gardens, restaurant with a view of the swimming pool and ocean, ample choice of food for breakfast and dinner. Staff were pleasant and always smiling and wore neat uniforms. Giving thanks to some staff that made our stay at Kisiwe Hotel memorable... Cornell, Alisha, Lydia, Jumo, Stephano, Lawi and Eligius at Reception, to name a few. The only downside with this hotel, it should have golf buggies to take disabled people with mobility issues around the hotel grounds. There was a garden nursery in the hotel grounds.

United StatesFrom the moment we arrived, Benjamin and other staff members greeted us with warmth and professionalism. Your team's attention to detail, genuine smiles, and proactive assistance truly made our experience unforgettable. The staff (every one of them!) at Kisiwa goes above and beyond to ensure guests feel welcomed and well cared for. The exceptional service extended to every aspect of our stay, from the seamless check-in process to the impeccably maintained rooms, beach, gym and restaurant services. We commend the team's dedication to creating a positive and comfortable environment. During breakfast and dinner, which were so delicious, the staff was very attentive to ensure the dishes served were safe for a gluten-intolerant and allergic person. The surroundings were so lush and beautiful. The views during breakfast, beach and dinner were calming and relaxing. Definitely a place to go if you want to enjoy the quietness by the pool or the beach, read books, exercise at the small but decently equipped gym, and eat well and healthy. The low tides were beautiful as the beach in front of the hotel premises was very clean and crystal clear water. Hence, it was relaxing to go for a walk on the beach that retreated from the sea during the low tides. And swimming in the warm water was so calming during the high tides. Thank you for exceeding our expectations and making our stay at Kisiwa truly spectacular. During our stay in Zanzibar, we even decided to return to Kisiwa for a second stay! We look forward to returning again and recommending the hotel to friends and family!
