Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta, Iceland, Australia, Greece, Brazil and North Carolina. For properties in these regions, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

South AfricaThe bathroom finishes could be better, the toilet seat, shower head and basin mixer. The mattress could also be upgraded. None of these things detracted from a wonderful stay, just a constructive criticism for an otherwise perfect spot.
Excellent breakfast daily! Eggs, crumpets, fresh juice, tons of fresh fruit.

FranceNothing, just to be aware about the tide time to enjoy at best the stay
The staff is really great, we felt as at home. The location is still authentic and in a peaceful part of the coast, not surrounded by big hotels or noisy beach activities. Paje village is at 30min walking on the beach. The rooms are simple but nice and very functional.

PolandThe lighting could be improved both in the rooms and in the restaurant. The light should be warm, because then it is more pleasant to be in the room. You could also install beach beds with adjustable backrests to make reading the newspaper more comfortable.
The hotel is exceptional in every respect. Perfect for people traveling alone or as a couple if they are looking for peace and quiet. Breakfasts are delicious, but other meals in the hotel's kitchen are also delicious. My warmest regards to the entire hotel staff! I always feel at home with you.

NetherlandsGreat place to stay at, perfectly situated at the beach between Paje and Jambiani so you can walk either way and it's a bit quiter then the places in the towns. Nice walk on the beach (max 30 minutes) to either town. Great pool. Absolutely wonderful staff! Always smiling and happy and very helpful. Good and abundant breakfast. Definitely recommend staying here.

GermanyAs per above, the location is 30 mins walk to Paje so you are dependant on private transport for anything (and the hotel rates are quite high to be honest for 5 mins ride). Also, the restaurant is ok, but not too special
The location is excellent for someone looking for relax and some quiet. It is literally by the sea and has got amazing sunbeds on the sand which make you feel you are in paradise! Excellent value for money!

United StatesJaribu Beach Hotel was my last stop before I returned home. It was the perfect place to relax and decompress a few days after six weeks of traveling! I loved my room and the view. The grounds were beautiful with colorful blooming plants. The swimming pool was inviting and enjoyable. I enjoyed the beachfront on the Indian Ocean and the sound of the waves and cooling breeze. The restaurant was great for hanging out with a drink and a good book, and the food was very good. Rachel and all of the staff were professional and friendly. I enjoyed chatting with them all. If I visit Zanzibar again, I will definitely stay at Jaribu Beach Hotel.

NorwayJaribu is a very relaxing, peaceful beach hotel--not luxurious, but charming. The grounds are spacious, open, green, harmonious, and truly beautiful; they are well cared for but with a natural feel. The buildings are of natural, traditional materials, basic but comfortable. We had a good bed in our deluxe cottage. The restaurant, too, is open, harmonious and relaxing--a very nice place for a meal or a drink. The pool is wonderful., All of the staff--the ones at the restaurant/bar, the cleaning staff, the cooks, the massage therapist, the maintenance men, and the security guards--were kind, thoughtful, helpful, eager, friendly, accommodating, and unhurried. My wife had a minor injury while were there and the staff really went out of their way for her. And Rachel, the owner/manager, went far beyond what one would expect; she was especially helpful in many ways, and was always concerned with our needs, friendly, and pleasant. I needed internet access for my work, and we happened to be there at a time when there was some work on the electric grid in the area, so there were some disruptions; the hotel has a generator for such eventualities, but beyond that, Rachel pulled out all the stops to make sure I could get online. Paje and Jambiani short taxi rides away, and both have good restaurants and interesting shops. The hotel is well connected with good, dependable taxi drivers.

CanadaThe property is about a 40 minute walk from town or a $5 cab ride. Honestly it was fine for us as we enjoyed the walk and the property is happy to order a taxi for you if you need. But for some people, the property was a little too quiet for them.
The staff were amazing, the level of service was exceptional. If you are looking for peace and quiet, this is the place for you.

We really enjoyed our stay there. Everybody was really nice and friendly. The food was great, the prices of the restaurant were favourable. The ocean here is not so good for swimming, but the fantastic swimming pool solves this problem. Thank you again for the whole Jaribu Team for our great time!😘

HungaryIf you like to walk to Paje, it’s 30-40 minutes and there is a huge reef where you can not cross barefoot, and you also can’t walk during high tide. Taxi is 4-5 USD. So if you want to reach the lively center of Paje, consider staying here, or be prepared for the walk/paying taxi ;)
We had a wonderful stay in Jaribu Beach Hotel, the staff was exceptional, the food was great, the room and the area is cosy.

AustraliaWe really done have much to critique- I will say the rooms are quite simple- but I think that reflects on the wonderful prices. But yes if you want more luxury bathrooms etc the. You would pay more for something else. This was all we needed
The staff at this hotel were truely exceptional- they always made us feel so welcomed and were always up for a chat and happy to help with whatever we needed. The location is amazing. Away from Paje hustle and bustle but close enough to get to wherever you need (long walk or short tuk tuk) our room had a view of the pool, the beach and the beautiful Paje sunrises!
