Very authentic property in an ideal location with comfy beds, spacious rooms and bathrooms plus with a great breakfast. The communal spacious are well decorated and provide a cosy homelike atmosphere. David the manager, the waitresses and cleaning staff were all very smiley and extremely accomidating.

The price is very cheap so can’t complain too much. The room itself has nice old furniture but it’s very backpacker’s style, not for someone who loves luxury. The mattress was quite hard, towels looked old and tired. The wifi didn’t work in the room, only in the communal areas.

The hiliki house is a beautiful building with interesting old objects. Location is excellent too!

Wifi in the room wasn't great as I was in the furthest room but worked great in the common areas. I suggest adding a trash bin in the bathroom or room.

Great staff. The hotel manager was very attentive. He helped arrange transportation and even prepared a ginger tea when he realized I was with a bad throat. The decor is very authentic, clean and centric. AC and fan in the room as well as mosquito net for the bed and windows. Good breakfast too.

Hiliki House & Retro are our go-to-places when we have to stay in Stone Town. David and the ladies from staff are doing an amazing job and are super nice, friendly and kind. It is perfectly located to the city center and the markets. Also the rooms have an AC and it was very clean. As mentioned in other reviews here on booking, this is an older house in Zanzibari style - due to the high humidity and the ocean there might be some water stains on the walls and ceiling and also some corrosion of bathroom items. As this is a common thing, we are perfectly fine with that and for the price there is absolutely nothing to complain. Also the breakfast and the fresh juice is flawless. Thanks again to David & the team for repeatedly having us & the warm welcome!

it was a nice place, room was old but pretty nice, and we had bathroom across the hall. Breakfast served included eggs coffee/tea and fruit plate. Very friendly staff

We stayed here twice and in the second room we got, the bed was very noisy, everytime you would move it would wake you up and the same goes for the fan, making it difficult to sleep. Given the old building that doesn’t have too many windows, the rooms can get humid and smell a bit.

The location of the house is good, outside the busy central streets but close enough to walk easily there. The breakfast is simple but good and David, the manager there is very helpful. The rooms are clean and everything that you look for given the price.

Great location, very central, very good breakfast, rooms a little damp and dark on the groundfloor, but fine for one night before heading to the beaches.

The matress was very uncomfortable and the shower in the bathroom was not completely clean. All in all we had a good stay at Hiliki House.

The old furniture was beautiful and the location was quiet but close to city centre and beach. Airconditioning was working successfully.

Despite arriving very late at night, I was welcomed by David, who was very kind and even went out to get water for me. The rooms are spacious and clean: I stayed in the double room with external bathroom, with an old-style shower and beautiful wooden furniture and bed. Location is convenient and the area is quiet and safe. Breakfast is served in the main building and it's abundant and very nice. Staff is kind and available.

Viintage furniture and recycled materials are nice but they can become impractical. This place is not for people who are looking for luxury or modern.

First of all, the host is super helpful and arranged anything we needed quickly. Location is not exacrly by the sea but in a safe area and walking distance to anything in stone town.

Lovely authentic place near Stonetown. Good breakfast and very good coffee. Quiet neighbourhood. Our room was nice and we slept very well there.
