Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta, Iceland, Australia, Greece, Brazil and North Carolina. For properties in these regions, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

PortugalIt is impossible to dislike anything here. It is a true gem.
The staff are amazing and the room had a beautiful view of the sea. It was very convenient for the Rock restaurant and had a great massage lady called Rose within five minutes walk. The breakfast was well presented and lovely, the staff attentive but not intrusive. Would highly recommend and will hopefully return.

Everything was perfect, the location, the staff, the room! The staff were unbelievably kind and exceptionally professional: a special mention goes to John and Diswa, who are infinitely kind, and to Jackeline, Mohamed (all of them), Naftali, etc. We hope one day to meet them again and wish them every success and happiness. Hekaya is a special place that we recommend without hesitation.

LithuaniaThe location of the property is its best and its worst feature depending on what you are looking for. If you want a peaceful holiday far away from everything- this is your place. There is literally nothing around besides the beach that the hotel is on. The closest town that has a small supermarket and a working ATM is 20min away by car. It was our mistake booking this hotel for 9 nights, but upon reading the reviews commenting how many bars and restaurants are located nearby, we imagined that there would be a small town or village close to the hotel. This is absolutely not the case, there is one beach on which there are maybe 4 other small hotels with restaurants where you can eat. Also, we do not recommend booking the tours via the hotel. We booked one and it was one of the most awkward tours ever, the guide seemed to be annoyed for having to spend the day with us. The tours are not conducted by the hotel itself, but their choice of partnership is not the best.
Overall we have throughly enjoyed our stay at Hekaya. The staff was excellent and the property is very clean. The food was also very tasty, we never had a disappointing meal. If you look for absolutely peace and serenity - this is a perfect hotel.

United StatesThe property was gorgeous! John, the gardener gave us a wonderful tour of the plants, flowers and trees. It is obvious that he and the staff take a lot of pride in the property. The rooms and balconies were very comfortable and beautifully decorated. There were fresh flowers on our bed each night. The restaurant and bar at the property was phenomenal. The food was delicious and the staff was extremely friendly and kind!

Hekaya exceeded my expectations. The hospitality was incredible. The view, the quality and cleanliness of the room. All staff catered for my dietary needs and were so deeply kind. They all went above and beyond to make my stay memorable and worthwhile. I was very sad to leave and would absolutely return again. Highly recommended this gem in Pingwe. A thank you to all staff, in particular Mohamed, Diswa, Jackeline, Tarik, Chef James, and John.

United KingdomEverything was great! We wish them well!
Our stay was exceptional in all areas. The hotel is small enough to feel cosy and give a sense of being able to get away, and the facilities were great. We enjoyed the pool, the ability to have meals on our balcony (at no extra cost) and the view from our room, plus the curtains meant if you just used the fan (not ac) the room was pitch black dark at night! The hotel is located just down a very beautiful beach from The Rock restaurant which is well worth a visit. The staff were so welcoming and responsive, and provided a very personalised experience. We were also adopted by the hotel cat, Luna, who we loved. We miss her!

By far the most amazing place to stay in Zanzibar. Hidden by palmtrees you can sit quietly, enjoying the beautiful ocean. The ocean is very nice and warm. There are some fish to see from the beach. There are plenty of small boats bringing you to the Blue Lagoon for proper snorkling.

United Arab EmiratesJust need a fridge in the room next year please.
Hekaya far exceeded our expectations. Amazing location on the beach, superb and spacious rooms, beautiful gardens immaculately maintained, super clean swimming pool and best of all....the staff. Big shout out to the bartender/waiter - Mohammed - he was superb. And Jackline went above and beyond for us during our stay. She facilitated a late check-out for us as we had a night flight. Many thanks to both Jackline and Mohammed - you guys are the best. I can't wait to return next year. This hotel has inspired me to build my retirement home in the same style and layout.

Everything. The beachfront location, the lovely pool and gardens, the large rooms with patios overlooking the ocean. The way the Swahili styled hotel bender in with the trees it was very private and peaceful too. Short walk to the rock restaurant. But above all, the staff. They were exceptional and nothing was too much trouble for them

SloveniaA few sun umbrellas by the pool would be great ... however since there is only 5 rooms in the whole resort, it's never vey crowded and we loved it!
Wonderful location, sea-view, outstanding African facilities, just 5 minutes away from the Rock restaurant but also with very good own kitchen. A lot of nice and comfy corners to just rest and do nothing. Great for a three to five days stay with or without family.
