Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta, Iceland, Australia, Greece, Brazil and North Carolina. For properties in these regions, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

HungaryNothing specific to mention, everything was great.
Very nice place with a super helpful owner and with a great staff. The location is excellent, right on the rocks of Mtende beach with a beautiful view to the ocean. Great place to have a rest, relax and enjoy the nature and the ever changing faces of the beach with no crowd at all. The restaurant was also excellent, serving fresh fruits and seafood.

United KingdomThe room is basic furniture and no fridge however the balcony and surroundings are so beautiful i was very happy with the accommodations.
This property is absolutely breathtaking, the rooms have so much character and charm, the properties are very spread out so you feel privacy and a beautiful walk through the gardens. The view from room is spectacular and is so calming hearing the waves through the night, the property also faces sunrise. The food in the hotel restaurant is cooked to perfection and i can say is the best i have had in Zanzibar. All the staff and manager are so friendly and always around if you need support or recommendations. It is also close walk to other local restaurants. The surroundings are absolutely stunning it is so quiet you just hear the noises from the forest and the ocean it is truly magical. I really love how much they take care of all there animals and environment and the beach Thankyou so much.

United KingdomIf you’re afraid of cats and dogs, the walk from the main gate to your room may be frightening.. also the animals are also in the main reception area. Otherwise all is good.
The area is very quiet compared to other parts of zanzibar, which was nice. The beach is practically empty most of the time, the view from the room was amazing. The staff were really helpful. David was extremely helpful in terms of activities, booking us cabs for our excursions and telling us about the area.

GibraltarThe road leading to it was very bumpy. But worth it, as the secluded area of Eden Rock makes it very peaceful and tranquil.

United KingdomLights in our room would not turn off properly, so we slept both nights with one or two lights partially on. The owner knew about the issue himself, tried to fix it but wasn’t possible .. but then I wonder, why would you let customers stay in a room where they struggle to sleep in?! Did not appreciate that. Also, food in the evening is too expensive for what you get. You should visit the nearby baobab resort where you get much more value for your money in a fancier place!
Spectacular location, the beach is gorgeous and is very dramatic! You can swim in both high and low tide. Not many tourists around. The bungalow was spacious and not as rustic as other reviews led to believe. It had a wonderful terrace with lounge chairs (shame it was always in the shade, though!) No bugs came in, probably because it was too windy anyway! Breakfast is good, in front of the ocean and staff nice.

United KingdomA great place to stay. Brilliant location by Mtende beach. Can get busy in the day but lovely and quiet in the mornings and early evenings. If you see Jacob, on the gate, with his Maasai friends he’s a perfect tour guide too.

NetherlandsThat we have to leave this little paradise!
This place is absolutely one of the most beautiful places where we have ever been to. The location is stunning. The bungalows are all perfect with a view to the ocean. We stayed here with our three teenage kids who loved the place as well. You can walk on the beach at low tide and swim in the ocean at high tide. Definitely make a walk to the village and meet the super friendly locals. The food at Eden Rock is very good and tasty. Last but not least a big thank you to the Masaai staff and the girls of the restaurant. They are all so nice and friendly. It is really nice to talk to them! They make your stay unforgettable!

United KingdomThe food, whilst good, was quite limited if you are staying a few nights as the menu never changes. The restaurant could do with a bit of attention (lighting, music, wider menu) to make the most of the stunning location.
We had such a charming stay here. It's a very unique setting with just a few rooms overlooking Eden Rock, so you have almost exclusive access to the stunning Mtende beach in the mornings and evenings. The only sounds you hear are the sea, the birds and the local fishermen. Communication was good with David the host, staff were excellent and the highlight for me was how well the local cats and dogs are treated by the hotel. The rooms are gorgeous and beds super comfy - can't beat the views from the upper floors. Wouldn't hesitate to recommend to those looking for a special setting (very much) off the beaten track. Food was good (especially the prawns). 2-3 nights recommended.

ItalyIf you like nature go for it. Magic place, monkeys outside (and sometimes inside) the rooms. In the morning and in the evening there are only the very few guests of this ecolodge around. The owner is super nice, it helped me a lot with a problem I had at the car. It is inside a nature conservation project. One of the best hotels I have been in the past 10 years.
