Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta, Iceland, Australia, Greece, Brazil and North Carolina. For properties in these regions, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Amazing breakfast. There's a souvenir shop at regular prices and cats.. lots of cats and succulents, lots of succulents. During the night (May) you can just walk outside and admire the fireflies.

TaiwanThe rooms had no sound insolation whatsoever. We felt bad waking up at 3 AM to go hiking, but we also felt bad about people being loud (literally walking around = loud) at 11 PM. Our room has a "garden view". It wasn't a garden view, just a plant, a flower 20 cm from the window, and a fence giving "some" privacy from the road. As for breakfast, count yourself unlucky if you dislike Chinese-style breakfast. The food was okay, but it was oily/slimy. Due to poor ventilation, the corridor smelled bad every time.
The good: the personnel (owners) were fantastic. The rooms looked nice, and the beds were comfortable. There were no issues with hot water. Ample parking space and easy access from the road. The sunrise spot was okay. Poor ventilation, but kudos for the dehumidifier in the room. They had cool tea leaves and steamed buns for breakfast. The location is good but not ideal if you plan to go to Alishan or Yushan. If you have a car, it's cool, but that spot might be difficult for travellers without a car.

BelgiumMattresses, which were placed on the ground, were quite hard. Be aware: no towels are provided.
Easy to access from the bus station. Exactly as described on the website. Near the B&B, there is also a good spot for viewing the sunrise. Clean place and very friendly owner. (Although he doesn't speak any English, with some improvising we got there) The breakfast at this place was also a big big plus!

SingaporePlace was slightly difficult to reach, was a good 15-20 min walk from 7-11, and quite a uphill. Room walls were quite thin where you could hear conversations in the hall, and walking past peoples' room, their television noises could easily be heard, which made me a little more conscious when talking in my room as i wouldnt want anyone to eavesdrop, whether or not they meant to.
Breakfast was a great spread, if any dishes were out, the kitchen would be quick to replenish. Room was well lit, showers were equipped and water pressure was good. They even had a sunrise corner for guests to go over and watch the sunrise. Place was also like a cat cafe, where they kept well over 30 cats in the main lobby/dining area

AustraliaYou need to pay extra attention driving in and out of the property due to the narrow streets. The road uphill, steep gradient, and narrow turns may not be for every customer. Fortunately, the signage to the property is very clear - and avoids unnecessary U-turns and reverse (which would have been a nightmare). Once you reach the accommodation, you can be reassured - the parking bay/area is extremely spacious. The stressful part is driving in and out; be mindful of oncoming vehicles and drive slowly.
The room was very cozy and gave a cabin feel. The location had a lookout for the sunrise (sadly cloudy on the morning we checked out). The check-in process was extremely simple and they accept credit card payment. The property has a lot of space for parking and it is very easy to do a U-turn. The complimentary breakfast was extremely delicious with local dishes and delicacies. It was extremely filling and the Mantou (馒头) were extremely delicious. The accommodation also has a restaurant space for ordering food and dishes. The property also has a special space where you get to hang out with its cats. I love all the kitties and they were very friendly to play with.

GermanyThe walls are very thin and the people who lived there during out stay did not obey the rule of being quite after 10 pm. So it was very loud until 1 am in the morning. Since the reception is not in the same building, and there was no one there anyways, we could not ask for staff to come to calm the teenagers down. I think this rule should be mentioned to everybody during check in to ensure a good night sleep, since most guest wake up very early for sunrise.
The location was perfect. Right around the corner was a trail through a bamboo forest which was magical. We were able to watch the sunrise next to the building we slept in, so getting up at 6:30 was enough. The room was very cute and clean and it was not too cold even though it was winter time.

GermanyThe communication was a little difficult cause the owner doesn’t speak English however the owner really tried his best and we made it work. however if you expect to see the Alishan sunrise above the clouds there the location next to the place will probably disappoint you a bit as it is too low to spot that phenomenon.
Really nice room. the owner provided us with tips on what to do around the b&b and which route to follow in Alishan. unfortunately we don’t speak mandarin but luckily we had other guests translate for us.
