There were a few downsides to our stay, though. Like many hotels in Istanbul, the soundproofing was not great, and we could hear noise from the surrounding rooms, which was a bit disruptive. Additionally, while the hotel offers the option to book tours and attractions, we found that the prices were quite high. It’s much better to explore the many tourist offices around Taksim Square, where you can find more competitive rates. Don’t expect anything luxurious, as it’s a 4-star hotel; however, it offers good value for money and is a solid overall choice with some room for improvement.

Our stay at Germir Palas Hotel had several positive aspects. The location is unbeatable, right in front of the famous park in Taksim Square, making it perfect for walking and exploring the area. Transportation options are plentiful and easily accessible, adding to the convenience. The check-in and checkout processes were both smooth and efficient, and the hotel staff were quick to assist with our luggage, which was especially helpful given the pedestrian-only access to the hotel. The breakfast offered a wide variety of delicious, well-cooked options, making for a pleasant start to each day. Additionally, the staff were exceptionally friendly, always smiling and eager to help. Although communication in English was sometimes challenging, tools like Google Translate made it manageable. Once they understood what you needed, the staff—whether it was the room service lady, reception, or breakfast staff—were incredibly helpful and accommodating, going out of their way to assist.

We had 5 rooms booked and the hotel couldn’t give us one room early, even we had an infant flying all night and need to rest , for me as former hotel manager , this is non professional at all .

So sad that the hotel is looking tired and in need of refurbishment (eg: varnish the woodwork). A suitecase shelf in our room would be good.

A wonderful hotel with old world charm in an excellent location. We had a view of Taksim Square, also a short walk to Istiklal Cd and the Havaist no 16 airport bus stop (204 Try pp one way). The M2 Metro is also close and takes you to the historic Sultahnamet area. Housekeeping staff were very friendly. We really like the rooftop area with views of the Bosphorus.

It was very noisy. We could hear noise from the rooms next to and above us. The property also smelled like smoke throughout.

The staff were very friendly and helpful and went out of their way to get me what I needed with my special dietary requirements. The room was spacious and clean, with a great view over the park and the water. The location cannot be beat. It was a great place to stay and I would choose it again!

The last day there was no WiFi which affected our holiday planning.

The location was superb if you are using public transport. It was central but far away from the noise. Breakfast was good and had a good variety of food. The additional bed requested for our child was a good size and comfortable.

Rooms run hot, blankets are too warm, AC works as a tractor so we have been using it only while up. Rooms wear off a bit, but it was expected. The central location means there would be street noise in the night, home prepared with earplugs.

Good location within walkable distance to many restaurants and public transportation hub, decent hotel breakfast with plenty of vegetarian options, clean rooms, friendly professional staff, patio outside, some parts of the hotel look old and nice.

I stayed at this hotel for two nights in April, which was one of the best seasons to visit Istanbul. The location of the hotel is amazing with a short distance from metro station and İstiklal street. The hotel seems a bit old but maintained well. Above these points, the friendliness and kindness of the hotel staff were outstanding.

I requested several times to change my arrival date, Booking.com confirmed the change but when I got to the property they gave me a hard time to change it luckily I had my emails/messages with Booking.com and they had no choice but change it.
