Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta, Iceland, Australia, Greece, Brazil and North Carolina. For properties in these regions, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

SwitzerlandThe humidity in the room, creating a white powder on the walls and falling into the room and our stuff. Lack of light in the bathroom. The ground was a bit sticky (too much soap used maybe)
The place, the quietness, the staff is kind and helpful. It was clean.

PortugalThe sheets in the bed were too small for the bed and I walk during the night sleeping on the mattress, the shower was very uncomfortable with no curtain and everything looked dirty and broken. The lighting is very poor and there is sand everywhere from the sand stone walls. BTW don’t look under the bed🤐
The location is very good, in the middle of the old city. The receptionist was a very kind girl…

United StatesListing description did not reflect reality: there was no shower (or tub), but there were 2 hamam basins to scoop warm water over yourself. Very authentic Turkish, but not the shower that was promised. Room had a bad sewage smell. Wifi very poor. Room was quite expensive given these defects.
Great location in old town. Lovely restored mansion, beautiful stone carving in our room, nice rooftop terrace, good breakfast. Best part was that staff met us on arrival in the old town to help us park and guide us to hotel, providing help with luggage. Otherwise parking and finding the hotel tucked back in winding alleys would have been an impossible nightmare on our own.

MalaysiaBreakfast was good. Location of hotel is at the central part of old city. Bed and pillow are comfy. Room and bathroom lighting was too dim. Extremely difficult to find ways to the hotel using navigation. Since hotel does not have parking space, we had to park at another hotel parking and was charged 150tl per night.

SpainStaff doesn’t speak a word of English. Literally nothing at all. This should not be a problem, but if you are staying here make sure you get all infos you need in advance ( recommendations for restaurants, buses to airport or whatever) in advance, as they will not be able to support in English. For Turkish speakers that shouldn’t be a problem ;)
Great value for money

United StatesThe guesthouse really needs to invest in a generator! There were long periods with no electricity, heat, or WiFi - since data signals could not penetrate the thick stone walls. The single room is right off the check-in area, though excessive noise was never too bad, and a tall person will probably need to sit side-saddle on the toilet as it's facing too close to the sink. Consider these FYI but certainly nothing bad enough to keep me from booking the extra night for a three night stay.
Dara Konagi was a welcomed alternative to Rosa Hostel - which I'd booked and quickly canceled once I saw the nonrefundable facilities. Dara's single room was small but heated up more quickly in the unseasonably cold weather. Some will find it too dark but I thought it was perfect for daytime napping. The facility is a genuine historic structure and not modern built to look like all the cave structures in Göreme. Location is central to all the main attractions, the Turkish breakfast was quite large, and the guesthouse recommends tours with local HGM Turizm Türkiye - a 9-hour excursion for 650TL.

FranceThe communication was difficult since the staff was not speaking English. The room is advertised with a hot tub but it is not true. All the hottubs have been removed. The rooms have private hamam but without heaters it makes the experience difficult. And there is no other options (no shower, etc). But the building itself is very nice.
Beautiful place with a very nice building. The hamam is nice even without heaters.

South AfricaThe location is through alleys which are not the cleanest as water outlets just flowed out into the alley. Noise, people sat in the courtyard late at night talking on their phones, not sure. If it was staff or guests,, thus disturbing us.

AustraliaThey absolutely need to update the navigation instructions on the website. The property as such is not on any real street, you can only get to it by walking into narrow alley, but GPS thinks it is a street and kept dragging me around while there was actually no way to get directly to it by car. Ideal navigation instruction would be to list a carpark next to Gazi Konagi hotel, because that is precisely where you would need to park your car if you are driving, pay the hotel for it, and the Dara Konagi is then just two minutes walk down the nearest alley from the carpark. The next issue I had was communication, only one of the people operating reception desk had good enough English, when I was circling around not being able to find location, I tried to call them for advice how to get there and person who answered phone kept telling me they don't speak English. I had to rely on kindness of locals to eventually guide me where I needed to be.
The whole property is quite nice, with few terraces and nice greenery, the room might have few loose fittings but loads of character and charm. Decent breakfast provided. Location is right in the center of historical core of the city.

CanadaSince room is stone with only a small window, it could get very humid inside after a shower or two. Fixtures could use some maintenance.
