Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta, Iceland, Australia, Greece, Brazil and North Carolina. For properties in these regions, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

The room looked very nice and comfortable, as well as the bed. Really loved it! Location was very good, just 5-10 minutes walk to the center. Staff was good; they also let us have early breakfast before our departure. The cleaning lady was kind, even we didn't speak each other's languages, we used Google translation to communicate. The breakfast was plenty and delicious. View from the hotel was beautiful.

Maltashower was without curtain so you can have a lot of water in a tiny bathroom
It was an old residence and you feel you are living the past. The owner prepared coffee early in the morning for us since we did not have time to stay for breakfast.

United KingdomThe first room we were offered was in the basement, these are not advertised on the pictures and have no windows, no air conditioning and are very cramped. I could not stay in these rooms. We did speak to the hotel manager and he did resolve our issue
Great location, just a short stroll down to the centre of old saffranbolu. I liked the authenticity of the room we stayed in overlooking the old town. The room was clean and comfortable and provided complimentary toiletries and slippers

BulgariaVery few things to mention. Because it is on main street it is quite noisy from the cars outside. Second the bathroom could be renovated a bit, the shower was in his best condition to meet guests. That's all, in generall very good!
In general our two nights at Cesmeli Konak Hotel was nice. Very polite and friendly hosts, good breakfast. The room for three persons was great, big and comfy. The hotel is very close to the old town.

AustraliaThe road was quite busy and sometimes quite noisy. The room had quite a strong smell about it. Noise from neighbouring rooms was easily heard. Not adequate pillows, no cups or kettle in the room.
Was close to the lovely little village. We felt welcomed and were given good advice from the hostess. The room was clean and pretty. There were enough towels and a small fridge.

The location is perfect. The hotel is on the main road which makes it easy if come by car considering the narrow streets of the town. Although it is on main road, it is not noisy at night. Then a short walk leads you to the center and where everything is happening. The room is big with a nice place to seat and enough room for the luggage. The garden is nicely decorated with a lovely view, perfect to seat and enjoy a cup of tea. Breakfast was also plenty and nice.

UkraineLocated on the corner of a busy street with traffic. The hotel consists of two buildings. In one, traffic noise is not heard, in the other it is.
Very hospitable. The hotel is an authentic old building. The hotel staff and owners are a nice Turkish family. They helped me organize my trip to the saffron fields. And they also helped with the transfer to the bus station. The hotel has a restaurant and a terrace with a beautiful view. Breakfast is great. The room was clean, comfortable with a great design, a view of the city and quiet air conditioning. The location is excellent, the city center is not far away.

RomaniaThey gave us a different room than the one I have booked FIVE months in advance. That was my last day in Turkey after a wonderful three-week vacation, so I chose to end my journey in the beautiful village of Safranbolu, famous for its stunning ottoman houses. I wanted so bad for it to be special. And it was, as it was completely spoiled by the unprofessional and dishonest staff of this hotel. I booked one 25sq.m room full of windows with traditional decoration and I was given the smallest possible room in the basement near the staff storage room, with a minute bathroom, and the smallest possible window with a nice view to the back courtyard full of garbage. When I complained, the host, who spoke to us in really good English upon our arrival, all of a sudden stopped understanding English, and started repeating over and over again that the hotel was fully booked, and no other room was available. I am sure, we were given a single room as the bed in it was a twin bed and they even pretended it was a double room. In this (and other) hotels in Turkey the breakfast service (included in the price) starts at 8:30, which is extremely inconvenient both for people who need to travel and for those who want to start visiting early in the morning because of the hot climate (most attractions open at 8:00). Is it to save money in a petty way?
It was a clean room with air conditioning. Parking on the street.
