Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta, Iceland, Australia, Greece, Brazil and North Carolina. For properties in these regions, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomWe booked a standard room with a jetted tub. The listing states room with city view. We were shown to our room and were informed that there was no window. They offered to show us another room, but having been up since 1.30AM to travel, I could not be bothered with the fuss. I wasn't bothered about a view, but I was shocked to have no window at all. We did actually have a window, but the view was to the hallway, not the outside. Peep show anyone? This is just peculiar. The room was small but adequate and nicely decorated. The jet tub was a nice addition, but it was confusing to work. And the second time we tried it, the water was tepid. The shower was also tiny, and my partner, who is a regular sized man, struggled to fit in it. The hotel had both an indoor and rooftop pool, which was a real bonus, and a roof top and poolside bar (roof pool only). There is also a small bar in the lobby. One evening, we decided to get a drink in the roof bar to find it closed. We were under the impression that it closed at 10pm, it wasn't yet 9pm, so we were surprised but just decided to go to the bar in the lobby instead. I ordered my usual, to be told, this was only available in the upstairs bar, which was closed. I ordered something else, which was also not an option. So we just gave up and went to bed. We were out early to explore, so we decided that an afternoon by the pool would be nice, we could relax for a while. Just before 3pm, we were told we had to leave as they were hosting a wedding, and guests could no longer use the pool. I think this is outrageous. We are paying guests and had not been informed of this earlier. Suspiciously, posters appeared around the hotel later that evening to state the roof was closed to guests due to a private event. We were told we could use the indoor pool. It was a beautiful day. We did not want to lounge in a basement. Breakfast was also pretty poor.
Let's start with the good stuff. I got a decent discount on this hotel from a running promo at time of booking. It was in a great location, with a short walking distance to a lot of the main sights there are to see in Istanbul. The staff were very polite and very helpful, including arranging our airport transfers, which sure, I probably could have gotten cheaper, but for sake of ease, this worked for us. Indoor and outdoor pool were a great addition. The room was small but adequate and nicely decorated.

United KingdomBooking.com confirmation promised a hot tub and city view for the two rooms I booked. We had neither, just the spa bath. I did mention this to one of the staff who just shrugged their shoulders and said that’s how it is. Although room was comfortable, some of the fittings didn’t work. Food was so-so with no real choice and nothing labelled to inform what you were eating. Little variety too; the first night we had a sort of casserole with chicken breast, while the second night it appeared to be the same, but made with the wings and legs! Think school canteen rather than restaurant. Others have commented on noise from other rooms and a smell in the bathroom. We experienced both, but not to any great extent. The bar was a rip-off; we ordered two small glasses of wine and a can (there was no draught) of beer. Luckily before they were poured, we checked the price - over £26! Needless to say we cancelled the order. Swimming pool was fine, but not the changing rooms which were used for storage; one had no working light and other, a smell of drains. Photo is of the city view we were promised.
Comfortable beds. Spa bath. Swimming pool. Good location.

United KingdomWe paid for half board- the breakfast was satisfactory with different choices and something for the children- however the dinner was not worth it at all- my children would not eat the food- there were not many options- on the first day my children ate bread only- there was not even butter to accompany the bread- after that they ate out everyday - so in the future I would not pay for half board
The hotel was clean and spacious- the rooms were clean and y to he staff were all very nice and polite and very helpful

United KingdomMy only criticism would be more fruit for breakfast!
Just returned after an 11 night stay, everything was great. All staff from the Reception team to the cleaning team were excellent, very friendly. Location: excellent opposite the metro station and 5mins walk to tram stop. Used both, very clean and safe (buy an Istanbul kart each journey costs 20tl, so much easier to get around the city) There are many restaurants in the area, we tried a few. Rooms very clean. We booked a duplex room which was very nice and large, but underneath the restaurant (next door) which had music playing until late. As I am a light sleeper, next morning I asked if we could be moved, reception staff were very accommodating and showed us 2 other rooms which were available. We choose the one on the 2nd floor facing the front, we went out for a few hours and our luggage was moved without any problem, I was a bit worried about traffic noise, but could not hear a thing. Room amenities were good, what you would expect. The bathroom did have a jacuzzi bath, but we did not use it, so cannot comment. The room was cleaned everyday and fresh towels provided. Breakfast: this is served between 7-10am - standard continental buffet, lots to choose from. Eggs, cheese, breads, pasties, olives, etc. My only criticism would be there was not enough variety of fresh fruit, but that is just my personal choice! Evening meal: buffet style, meat and vegetarian option, salads, desserts, we only tried twice during our stay and both times it was ok. roof top swimming pool, this was one of the only hotels (I found) on the European side with an outdoor pool, this is such a bonus. We took full advantage of this, pool area was clean, plenty of beds and seats, life guard on duty all day, bar for snacks and drinks. The hotel also has an indoor pool and spa area, which I did not use, so cannot comment. All in all we had an excellent stay at the Wyndham, found all staff to be helpful and friendly, the hotel/rooms to be clean with full amenities.

United KingdomThough we'd booked a superior room we were told we couldn't have it on the first night as the hotel was fully booked - yes, and we had made one of those bookings! So had other room without jetted bath and without windows. While we were being told this we were also jumped on about booking excursions and tours available - not the time to do that, after a long day's travel and the disappointment of being downgraded on night 1. After that we were transferred to the correct room and given a fruit salad in the room as compensation. Hmmm.
Breakfast was great with a wide range of things to select, location good too, a short walk to the tram route to Sultanahmet and beyond to Eminonu for the ferries and Kadikoy. Most ornate bathroom/toilet I've ever seen, like Game of Thrones! Jetted bath a real bonus after a long day's walking/sightseeing, as is rooftop pool, very refreshing! Plenty of local restaurants close by too, and worth the short walk to see the acqueduct nearby.

South AfricaNot a true five star. Rooms are small. We were given the biggest room in the hotel apparently which was for people with disabilities so showering caused the entire bathroom to flood. Foul smell from the sink drain. Spa pool not heated. Not much variety in the meals provided and not vegetarian friendly. Food area staff were downright rude.
Location. Access to metro. Buzzing surroundings. Room management staff were very friendly and went out of their way. Upgraded us without asking.

This property is located close to the metro station and close to trams. Many restaurants close by. For its location it Very Good. Very friendly staff.

United KingdomThe rather tacky posters tied to the railings by the stairs down to the Dining Room. They detracted from the stunning looking entrance, lobby and lounge areas. The posters could be improved by being mounted on attractive frames and stands. The check-in staff could also help promote the services offered by the concierge and hamman/spa staff by telling guests to visit the two desks opposite reception obtain further information after checking in.
The location was superb and food was plentiful. The roof pool was fabulous and very relaxing. Would certainly stay at the Wyndham Istanbul Old City Hotel again.
