Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta, Iceland, Australia, Greece, Brazil and North Carolina. For properties in these regions, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomThe property needs a little bit of a refresh, paint, new furniture et cetera. But the biggest letdown was the Wi-Fi. In a modern tourist economy, Wi-Fi is key. It was unreliable and dropped out often. Also, the pool area was lovely, but not really suitable for laying by the pool. It basically was a cool restaurant and bar with a pool in the middle. Where are the lounge chairs and towels? And perhaps it was the language barrier but we could never get a time in the hammam which was included.
The staff were amazing and the location was perfect. Our suite was big with great balconies and great views.

PolandMy friends and I went to Tunisia for a week, staying in different hotels around the country. This hotel, as well as the staff (especially Ali) and the food, were the best we visited. Unfortunately, we had a rather lacklustre experience with the staff in the spa. Apparently, the service is "selective". My friend wanted a scrubbing but could not get a slot because "all slots are full", yet my other friend got the slot without problems. Furthermore, two of us did not receive towels, bath robes, coffee or tea, and weren't shown around the Hammem like we could observe from the other guests in the Spa area. My friend also paid more for an additional treatment than was written on the card (without the 10% guest discount as well), and generally, the behaviour of the spalady toward us was noticeable unpleasant. We perceived the behaviour of the spalady toward us as racist and really not appreciated. Choosing customers only on the specific criteria of their ethnicity or whatever criteria she set for herself should not be acceptable, especially because we generally enjoyed the stay in the hotel itself.

United KingdomWouldn’t say something we don’t like but maybe a refurbishment for some places is needed. Or put more attention to gym room, for foreigners. It’s nice to have an option to exercise in the equipped gym of the hotel. But they didn’t bother us really, just some recommendations.
The stay was amazing! The staff were so helpful and friendly. The hotel was kind enough to upgrade us due to my birthday as well as baking a whole cake to surprise me in the room. The service was fabulous! 100% worth the stay!

NetherlandsWhile pleasant, the prices are too high for the quality of services/amenities offered and also compared to other hotels in Tunis. The breakfast is very poor for a 5-star hotel and often partially depleted before you arrive (the 'new' dine-in option is pleasant but presentation is poor and it was messy as orders were not followed). Some of the room amenities were missing on check-in (water/tea, coffee/empty bathroom dispensers) or a bit dysfunctional, and quality of service at the rooftop bar/restaurant is very inconsistent. Specifically at my arrival this time, ca. 2h before check-in, I was told in a not-very friendly way that the room was not available yet (fair enough) but I was then asked to 'be flexible and share a room (and bed!) for one night because construction in one of the rooms was taking longer than expected'. I said no. When returning after check-in time the changed reception team, which represented a big shift in professionalism and friendliness overall, said there were no issues at all and both rooms were available.
I have stayed here twice with a friend in separate rooms for a long weekend in March and now late June, once with a city view and this time in a sea view room (louder but the view balances this out). Positives were: the location (can't beat the beach access and centrality in La Marsa), the overall esthetics of the hotel including the spa and gorgeous lounge room there, plus the actual hotel rooms are bright, spacious and include super comfortable beds. The flexibility and professionalism of certain reception staff was appreciated. The rooftop bar and restaurant are a big plus and are open throughout Ramadan.

United StatesWonderful hotel in an old Arab palace that has been beautifully restored. The staff's kindness was amazing. Such a peaceful place--and the room was lovely. I ended up eating at the restaurant most evenings because the food was good and it was so relaxing to be in that environment. The hotel also hooked me up with the best guide, and he was spectacular. Thank you to everyone who helped me my days in Tunis at the hotel. I hope one day soon to come back!

NetherlandsThe breakfast was sub-par compared to the rest of the services offered, and the buffet is apparently not replenished after it opens (come early or lose out). The AC in the room did not work, but luckily I did not need it much and did not complain because of this. As mentioned before, the rooftop does not have tanning / lounge chairs or towels for those who want to swim.
The Dar el Marsa is a three-story hotel in a great location on the very beach front of La Marsa. Very friendly staff throughout the hotel, a modern look in the comfortable rooms and great beds. The spa services were excellent as well as the large 'relaxation space' open to guests. Rooftop restaurant / bar comes highly recommended and has one of the best views in the area.

United StatesHonestly, I can't think of anything specific that we didn't like. This hotel is right on a busy street so it can be noisy at times but we are used to noise as where we live in the states is right on a busy boulevard. Perhaps if you desire peace and quiet, you may want to look for a different hotel.
The view of the Mediterranean Sea was amazing. The hotel was so nice and we had a very enjoyable stay. The staff were kind and friendly. We loved having so many restaurants and shops within walking distance and the hotel has a wonderful rooftop restaurant that is definitely worth visiting.

United KingdomDespite being classed as 5 star, there were many faults in the room which are not repairable. As my son told me- only expect to get 80% of what you thought you would get as it’s Tunisia. Restaurant is good but spoiled by local residents ignoring the no smoking signs. Management apologised but wouldn’t stop them.
Breakfast was not as varied as European’s are used to- no bacon for example even though Carrefour supermarket do sell it. All the cooked breakfast trays contain spices which many older travellers can’t eat. But there were boiled eggs and omelettes available. Fruit juice depended on local availability and bananas were never available as they are expensive in Tunisia

BelgiumBalcony door didn’t close properly which made the room noisy (streetdogs) and cold (november). They only put on the heating as of december so no way to make the room comfortably warm. Double duvet solved it a bit.
Good breakfast, large room with seaview, good bathroom with big bath. We enjoyed the sauna and the relax area on the 1st floor. Staff were friendly.the rooftop restaurant and bar are nice.
