Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta, Iceland, Australia, Greece, Brazil and North Carolina. For properties in these regions, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United Kingdomthe staff are amazing, always making sure you’re okay and settling in. they have a WhatsApp group where they share any recommendations for each day, what’s going on in the hostel and peoples plans for the day. the hostel is fairly small with around 20 beds but this made for a really social and homely environment where everyone was included. by far the best hostel I’ve stayed in, would recommend for anyone going to Koh Tao, especially solo travellers.

NetherlandsThey didn't provide a towel. But maybe you can rent one, I didn't check
Such a great hostel! The owners are so kind and the food Valerie makes is absolutely delicious!! Beds are comfy and rooms are nice and cool. There's plenty of space to air dry your bathingsuit and towel. There's a whatsapp group in which they provide tips on what to do, where to go and where to eat. I loved my stay and will do my best to come back ASAP!

AustraliaA new hostel run by an awesome couple, Valerie and Pascal. The hostel is a great place to meet other travellers and the atmosphere is very chill. Although the location is a bit away from the main area, it is nice to have some peace and quiet at night. All the facilities are new and Valerie and Pascal are continuing to improve the hostel every day. Would highly recommend for other travellers looking for a social but relaxed place.

GermanyNot much bad to say about this place except for this: One morning when I had breakfast (consisting of bread, peanut butter, bananas) one of the receptionists told me that eating 3 bananas is too much. First, it was because other guests would want to have bananas as well (there were many left in the box. I asked if they had more bananas behind the counter which she agreed on, so that's not a valid argument). Then she said that buying groceries, water, electricity and so on is getting more expensive on the island. Sorry to say but charging 600 Baht a night is already above average and telling me that 3 bananas are too much because of the money... That's super ridiculous. Don't know what her issue was but it left a really bad taste especially as I booked 2 nights at the counter which were even more expensive than online just to support the hostel
Liked the vibe, many recommendations about what to do on the island, beds were comfy, quiet area.

GermanyThe hostel is up a hill, which is not really a problem, but getting up and down a few times a day without riding a scooter could be annoying…
Nice clean beds and a very nice chill area. Only stayed for one night but I would still recommend this hostel:)

United KingdomMy sheets had old blood stains on them which was disgusting. The location is also not ideal and up a huge hill which makes it very hard to walk up.
The staff were lovely and very accommodating. The rooms and beds were good sizes.

GermanyLocation is just not as good as some other options on the island. Yes, there is the hill you need to climb every time (or rent a scooter), but to stroll around, be close to the diving schools, or even have a beach view of stunning sunsets is something worth considering. There were quite loud and dusty construction works going on around the hostel, because more houses are being built… The upper bunk beds have the problem that there is a bar on the ceiling which makes it impossible to sit up in the middle of the bed. It’s just not that comfortable/manageable compared to other sleeping solutions in different hostels on Koh Tao. Also the bathrooms could be easily improved by just installing some hangers and spaces to place your utensils so that whilst using the showers/getting ready you don’t have to constantly shuffle around your belongings or put them on the wet floor.
The team is friendly and the view from the common terrace very nice (wide view of the forest and hills, no beach view though). Super clean.

PortugalSomeone stole my Kindle there on my last day so of course I'm super disappointed. Stinky and dirty shower area (smells pee a lot in the shower). Mostly very young guests so if you're above a certain age, it's quite difficult to connect with those kids. Some not educated kids in the dorm.
The owners are trying their best.

One of the best hostels I’ve stayed in. Wonderland immediately felt like my second home. Environment is very social and welcoming, but very chill. There’s always something going on and everyone is super friendly. Staff is incredibly helpful and sweet. Facilities are extremely clean. Bed is super comfortable. The restaurant downstairs is great, it has tons of vegan and vegetarian options plus tons of regular food too (I recommend massaman and banana Nutella pancake). The location is in the mountains a little below Secret Bar (great sunset spot). It’s beautiful and social area is very homey and comfortable, yet clean and modern. It’s perfect. Make sure to rent a scooter from RPM before you begin your journey up the hill. Will save you time and energy. If you come to koh Tao, stay at Wonderland
