Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta, Iceland, Australia, Greece, Brazil and North Carolina. For properties in these regions, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomIt was wonderful but by night as a female solo traveller it becomes quite quiet on the last stretch of the walk up. Literally just the last 50 yards so it wouldn’t put me off booking again.
This is a real gem! Yes it’s a very steep hill but once there this became a haven for me. Peaceful and almost felt like a home stay as the family are around. They were warm, welcoming and accommodating. Everything was clean and it was a nice touch to have tea/coffee, biscuits and toast available.

ChinaThe staff that took care of the hostel were probably some of the nicest people we've ever met, so I'm going to take a moment now to write about our stay. 1. A boy who helped take our luggage up to the hostel. Our suitcases weighed 21 kilograms, which I felt ashamed of and was very much appreciated! 2. The level of attentiveness of the service is really unparalleled: The hostel itself: set up a bar with tea, coffee, water dispenser, and even a variety of island essentials such as sunscreen, after sun cream, mosquito repellent, and medicine for abdominal pain. There are also waterproof bags, swimming glasses and towels that are free to borrow. Room: very big room, very big bed. Cleaning was done well and when the staff would carefully fold the clothes I left on the bed. Hotel attendants: 1. In the morning I go to the front desk to work and to enjoy the view and breakfast. I kept scratching my feet from mosquito bites and without asking the attendant brought a bottle of mosquito repellent when she saw it. 2. We accidentally lost the key to the locker and the hotel staff opened it for us straight away without asking for a fee at all and refused the tip I handed over. 3. The next day when we went down the mountain, the guy who helped us open the lock yesterday helped us push our luggage down, and this time also refused the tip I wanted to give. Because I think he genuinely just wanted to help. (There was another boy who specialized in helping with luggage) (Tipping aside, I feel guilty because of the weight of the luggage and the distance traveled, I want to tell you these things because they struck me as genuine, kind people in their own ways, with a passion for taking care of hotels and travelers, and because of that passion I not only want the hotel to be successful, but I hope that great things will happen to them.) Thank you for everything, you have made our trip better and I wish you all the best of luck!

IndiaThe guy there doesn’t have a very good English, but he is laughing all the time. There were some awkward situations.
Super nice view from the hostel, there is a steep slope but worth it. Quiet place away from the town, though you can still hear the music, but bearable. Facilities are in good conditions and super clean. I would recommend this place.

United StatesThis was my own mistake, but there was no AC the first two nights. I didn’t know the remote was on the wall. They showed me where and then it was great the last night!!! You can still hear the music from the beach bars until 3am. Not their fault though. It’s as quiet as you’ll get on phi phi! The bathroom did have a stench sometimes.
The best part about this place are the people who run it!!! Most kind and caring family! They always provided what was needed. Whether it was a poncho, a dry bag, a cell phone case, snacks, coffee, etc. they provided it. A button fell off my dress and the sewed it back on for me! Truly the kindest hostel hosts EVER.

IrelandIt was a real trek up to the property, about 15 mins walk to the centre of Phi Phi which is fine, but just how rugged and uphill the paths are. I think it should be better warned when booking that this is the case, I still think it was worth it for the view but it’s not accessible for people who aren’t of a moderate level of fitness or have mobility issues
The view was incredible, I really liked the food/coffee etc that was free for everybody to use. Also sunscreen and after sun etc

BulgariaOwners were very kind and warm. The view is amazing as name suggests, it was totally worth the little bit of uphill walk. They helped with my luggage in the check-in, literally found me after the ferry arrived which I didn't expect. Snacks (toast & noodle) and drinks provided in common area, which made me enjoy the view more.

CanadaThere were only two toilets/shower per 10 people and it just gets messy with almost not place to hang your clothes. As much as they do their best to keep the toilets clean overall is just not enough for the number of people in the rooms
The name says it all, the view is stunning! Owners are very chill and willing to help It’s not a party hostel and it’s small so every traveller you meet has a story to tell, I met some great people over there. Bed is comfy and has a nice view of the island! It’s located on the foot of a hill, but worth every step, it’s a party island and that hill is as quiet as it gets

United StatesOn top of a hill which is tedious at the end of the day, but the entire island is so walkable that it's totally fine.
Best hostel I've ever stayed at. Kindest staff. Best amenities. Loveliest views. Peaceful spot amongst the chaos of Phi Phi. Singlehandedly made my vacation the best it could be. Bathrooms were cleaned frequently, and my bed was always made as well. Laundry service fast and convenient.
