Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

AustraliaFor people who don’t like walking (we do) the distance to Lamai centre may be an issue.
The property was amazing and the service exceptional. We loved the tranquility of the hotel but we also enjoyed the location. Although the beach out the front wasn’t suitable for swimming we enjoyed the 15 minute walk on the beach to Lamai beach and shopping, if we didn’t feel like walking the staff were happy to arrange a taxi which only cost 200 baht. Also a short walk to Crystal Beach which we loved. We generally don’t go back to the same hotel twice however this might be the exception.

United KingdomThat we had to go home eventually
This was the second time we stayed at the Lamai, and the effort the staff have made with our return was really touching. This time we stayed in the room with plunge pool, which was perfect for a quick dip after long days exploring on the island. Service is always impeccable and any help you might need, everyone will be on hand to get things done. Special thank you also to Nah and her team, the rooms were always spotless.

AustraliaThe breakfast could be better, not alot of breafast options.
Plunge pool room was beautiful, plunge pool was a lot cooler than the main pool so we used the main pool more often. Central, easy to get around with a car. Front desk was super helpful with car hire and your arrangements etc.

United KingdomThe water in the ocean outside of the property is very shallow, therefore, it’s not possible to swim. The nearest beach is about 25-30min walk. We also had an encounter with a big cockroach at the room.
We had a beautifully decorated modern room with a plunge pool. The room was cozy and comfy with all essentials. Good breakfast selection and friendly helpful staff.

United StatesI LOVED our stay at The Lamai, it’s not a big resort but it’s just the right size when you are a couple who wants to relax. We stayed in the pool access room and we loved it so much we actually never went to the main pool. The beach in front of the hotel is not good for swimming- The breakfast is really really good! great variety. I would stay here again for sure! we stayed here 3 nights and then stayed at the Melia for 2 nights. I actually wished we stayed here the entire time…. next time I’ll only stay at The Lamai for sure!

United KingdomThe place is really nice and well kept but it definitely falls short of a 5 star hotel. You feel you are overpaying for everything all the time. We had a 1h bath tube session and they charged us 1000B per person. It is a bath tube, I feel that the number of people should not matter in this case. They offer you many tours and bike rentals, but all are above the regular price you can find around. Also, I don't particularly like the fact that the shower in the bathroom has no ceiling. If it rains you basically have to step into the rain before getting to the toilet. It looks nice at the beginning but is not practical nor comfortable. The breakfast is a simple buffet, similar to other 3, 2 or even 1 star hotels we've been to in Thailand or maybe even worse. Other 5 star hotels I've been to you can have breakfast a la carte.
The outside swimming pool area is astonishing, with a private beach with clean water. Next to it is the restaurant which has a nice and tasty selection of food. Probably one of the best curries I had on my trip was here.

IsraelNothing that worth mentioning.
Very comfortable bed, room was large, bathroom was outside of room which was an experience that we got used to after a day Swimming pool was so good and private that we haven't used our private pool in the room. Breakfast was good and the dinner at the restaurant was amazing. Plunge pool was a bit of waste because the big pool was empty 99% of the time and we prefered it. We end up extending two more nights.

SwitzerlandWe had a plunge pool room which was great however it is ground level where everyone can see straight through the room till the bathroom in the other side of the pool. Due to this we had to keep the curtains closed which made the room very dark. A bit far from Lamai Village.

IrelandWe booked for 3 nights but we loved the hotel so much we stayed for an 2 extra nights. Room facilities are fantastic and the staff were exceptional in an understated way. Breakfast was excellent with variations every day. We used the free kayaks in the shallow bay at sunset which was a lovely experience. Communication with reception staff is set up via wats app which meant requests were dealt with promptly. I was celebrating my 40th birthday and the hotel surprised me with a cake at breakfast.Highly recommend!

AustraliaSo so peaceful and immaculate grounds. The pool is lovely and despite the beach not being the best for swimming it’s also really secluded and has gorgeous sunsets. It’s a very very quiet spot so not recommended for party people. But still easy access to most major places.

United KingdomWhilst on the sea, the sea in front of the hotel isn't swimmable as extremely shallow. Wasn't a problem for us as the pool was lovely and it was also very nice looking out to sea. I suspect if you walked down the beach there would be deeper water and good swimming, but didn't try.
Extremely comfortable peaceful hotel away from the hussle and bustle of Koh Samui. Excellent staff, very comfortable room (we had a poolside suite), lovely bathroom with bath tub, shower and twin basins, nice main pool and good restaurant with a wide variety of food and reasonably priced options. Sunbeds always available as overflow area if the beds by the pool are taken. Also had a massage in the spa which was excellent, if a little pricey. Would return if in the area.

NetherlandsThe property is beach front, but the beach is not much of a beach... you can't really sunbathe or swim there! The area is also pretty quiet, which is a pro or a con depending on what you're looking for. Spa is super expensive (but worth it).
Super beautiful place away from the crowds of Koh Samui. The room was beautiful - super big, great AC, and a massive bathroom with the biggest tub I've ever seen. Staying in the upstairs room was great because we got a little balcony to ourselves which felt really private. The pool was a lot of fun, and has a good vibe. Breakfast is excellent: every kinda food you can imagine and the ice coffee was delicious. Easily catered to vegans. Also the little floating terrace on the beach is great for a cocktail. Oh and the massage I had was one of the best I had in Thailand!

CanadaRecommend only that the property review their drink prices and reduce them to be more in line with other hotel properties and restaurants. Moving to more competitive drink prices will increase the amount of money your guests spend on site and keep them from looking elsewhere.
The service was absolutely first class. The staff all took it upon themselves to remember you by name, your room and your preferences. Friendly, welcoming, professional and responsive service. An absolutely beautiful property. Spotlessly clean and well maintained. The infinity pool and beach were spotless and absolutely gorgeous.
