Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomWe had one of the plunge pool rooms, and whilst they were pretty big we missed having a usable balcony. They were also quite dark. The alcohol was quite expensive at the restaurant and we only ate the breakfast at the hotel. Went out for our other meals.
The pool area was amazing, big pool and right on the beach. Plenty of beds for everyone. Rooms were big, the gym had lots of good equipment, loved the library to grab books from, staff were super lovely, so friendly and helpful. Great restaurants close by - kerwins kitchen was amazing!

Australia*5/5 Stars* We recently had the pleasure of staying at this exceptional hotel, and I must say, it exceeded my expectations in every way! The spa room was incredible, with comfortable beds and top-notch amenities. The pool and gym facilities were also impressive, earning a solid 10/10 from me. But what truly made my stay stand out was the outstanding service from the morning staff, particularly Tan and Riggy. Their warm smiles and friendly demeanor made every morning a joy. They went above and beyond to ensure I felt welcome and supported throughout my stay. Overall, I highly recommend this hotel to anyone seeking a fantastic experience. The combination of excellent facilities and exceptional staff makes it a true gem. Keep up the fantastic work, Tan, Riggy, and the entire team!"

United KingdomLike many other hotels on the island they have aged a bit and some renovations are needed to fully sparkle again. Don’t get me wrong we would come back here happily.
It’s secluded from the main road and sitting pretty much at the end of Lamai beach. Very charming villas/rooms especially those with pool access. Plenty of trees and also some large rocks integrated into the resort. Very friendly and helpful staff at reception as well as at restaurant. There is a WhatsApp group which gives one direct access to reception who responds very fast.

The views are amazing. The rooms and really luxurious, we upgraded to a room with a pool which was just stunning. Staff are brilliant, so attentive and work so hard to make your stay amazing.

United KingdomThe mosquito’s. Be prepared!
The hotel is a calm oasis right on the beach in Lamai. The rooms are very comfortable, the staff are fabulous the hotel is mainly laid out as a series of villa style rooms that open with direct access to a pool with only 5-6 rooms per pool it’s never crowded so feels pretty exclusive. It’s a 10-15 minute walk to the busier section of the beach and the restaurants and bars of Lamai so the location is perfect.

New ZealandThe beach at low tide was very smelly some days due to seaweed. Also not really able to swim in ocean as rocky and shallow.
We loved the setting of the resort with the dining and pool area on the waterfront. The rooms were private and spacious and had an authentic Thai feeling.

South KoreaWhile our stay at The Lamai Samui was truly exceptional, it’s worth noting that the beach directly at the resort isn't the best for swimming. Although it’s beautiful to look at and perfect for a leisurely stroll, the waters are not as ideal for swimming as we had hoped. It would be a wonderful addition if the resort could offer a shuttle service to take guests to nearby beaches like Lamai Beach or Chaweng, which are more suitable for swimming. This would enhance the overall experience, making it even more convenient for guests to enjoy the best that Samui has to offer and return to the comfort and luxury of the resort.
Our recent stay at The Lamai Samui was nothing short of spectacular, and we owe a special thanks to Manager Piak, whose warm hospitality made our experience truly unforgettable. From the moment we arrived, it was clear that the resort is a haven of tranquility, where every detail is meticulously cared for. Our villa was spotless, with every corner gleaming and fresh, which made us feel instantly comfortable and relaxed. The housekeeping staff deserves special mention for their diligence; they seemed to be constantly at work, yet always with a smile on their faces, ready to accommodate any request we had. The spa at The Lamai Samui was another highlight of our stay. Nestled in the heart of the resort’s lush grounds, the spa provided a serene retreat where we could unwind and rejuvenate. The treatments were divine, delivered by skilled therapists who truly knew how to melt away the stresses of everyday life. The ambiance was perfect, with soothing music, fragrant oils, and a setting that embraced the natural beauty of the surroundings. Speaking of the surroundings, the grounds of The Lamai Samui are nothing short of a green, lush paradise. The gardens are beautifully landscaped, with a vibrant array of tropical plants and flowers that create a sense of being in a secluded, peaceful retreat. We spent many hours simply wandering through the gardens, taking in the sights and sounds of nature, or relaxing by the pool, which is perfectly integrated into this stunning environment. But what really sets The Lamai Samui apart is the staff. Every member of the team, from the reception to the dining areas, works tirelessly to ensure that guests have the best possible experience. Their friendliness and willingness to go the extra mile made our stay truly special.

United KingdomAs others have mentioned, the lighting in the bathroom needs improving. The lounger cushions desperately need changing, they were torn in places and some were mouldy. You wouldn’t expect that at a 5 star hotel.
A lovely hotel, in a quiet location, great for a relaxing break. The staff were very attentive and professional.

United Arab EmiratesThis property in Koh Samui is excellent. The beach is not swimmable but the pier and walks on the beach were amazing. We really loved the ambiance and the staff were very helpful. The best part of the property was the room. We stayed in the pavilion villa and it was just beautiful. Would definitely recommend for families and couples and would love to revisit.
