The Hideout is a little gem hidden away about 5 minutes by motorbike of the main road on Samui. I stayed at the backpackers lodge which is brand new and very comfortable. I've met some great people here including the owners, Sean and Storm, who will help you out whenever they can and show you the best places on Samui and around.

BUT Even though the place looks beautiful, it isn’t functional. You can not sit up on the top bunk because the ceiling is too low, the mattresses are very hard. The light bulbs are too bright so if one person gets in late and turns on their bunk light, it will wake up everyone. There is no privacy as the bunks do not have curtains.

The staff were very helpful when asked for information. The location can be good if you have a scouter, it’s near the mountains where you can get lost in chasing waterfalls.

The location is both a pro and a con. If you drive a scooter then is grand but if you need to walk everywhere it takes about 25mins to get to the main road with shops and restaurants. On the other hand, it is a secluded place and very peaceful. As most day tours provide pick up service is not much of an issue.

The swimming pool is a big highlight. Beds were comfortable and everything was clean.

It’s a bit in the middle of nowhere, and the shower facilities weren’t amazing with the water pressure. Everyone at the hostel sleeps in the same room, too.

The main door when closed is still open at the top so bugs can get in. The beds should have curtains for more privacy and the bed sheets kept slipping off which was really annoying.

I highly recommend you have a scooter if you book this hostel. I didn't mind the walk from the main road to there, but be prepared for 20-30 minutes of walking, if you want to save you a taxi. Restaurants are equally far away - but lots of people ordered their food on apps anyway. As this is a new place, the owners are learning and are aware of a few issues, like missing curtains and are working on resolving these.

A really modern place with awesome owners! It just recently opened and everything is still new and styled very tastefully. The hostel shares the space with other holiday bungalows that surround the amazing pool that you can also use. There's plenty of space outside to sit and relax! The also have a bar which is nice to get some work done or get in touch with others - however currently their fridge is broken, so it was a social place without drinking during the time I stayed there. It's also a very quiet spot with little road traffic and noise and you can enjoy the green of the mountains in the distance. I highly recommend you check it out - especially if you have a scooter! It's a very fair price...

I could not sleep at all because of the noise and loud. I was close to the door that always opened and shouted very loudly and the rowdy air con also didn’t gave me a chance to sleep well because it was in 50sm of me. When I checked in there was others free places, but the receptionist told me that I cannot take another bed. Also there’s a lot of stuff of the guests everywhere even in the bathroom room it’s difficult to find free place. And there’s mold in shower

Staff allowed us to store luggage however when we returned found it in clear view unattended, when checking in staff were rude, location was far from many attractions and there were 30 people in one room.

Had seen reviews of the location being an issue. However the location is clearly on the booking and if you pre arrange a scooter its a 2/3 min drive to the main road. The host can call a scooter company for you if required.

The hosts were very nice and always happy to help out and have a little chat with. Even drove a friend into town who wanted to rent a scooter. Great value for money.

even check in was not optimal. cannot sit upright in bed. no space or small shelf to have some small things next to the bed. no towels for bathing. uncomfortable ladder. is located far away from cafes and shops within walking distance. cheap and bad bed linen, in which you feel warm, and the sheet does not stick and detach from the mattress.

Where should I start everything thing via watts app never seen any member of staff . 24 people in one room yes new this as booked for first time in this type of accommodation. No towel for three days , I said in my message to them travelling by bicycle don't carry a towel . Reply don't have any clean ones have one tomorrow but no . It was a dirty place bins over flowing no toilet rollsand when they did turn up only 4 for 16 people .message saying blocked drains never fixed properly. Yes it's cheap accommodation and could be great but custer care and service is nil all they do is take your money. I'm 58 and just wanted hot water, ( yes ) clean accommodation (no ) even the other guest told me they haven't had towels some bedding was not changed on change over. A good custercare and clean , put pride in what you do . This pla e could be a 9 all day long . Who ever owns this sort your act out

The location is very remote with no way of transport down to the main road if you do not have a scooter, we could not hire a scooter as the island had a shortage due to how busy and time of year. 35 min walk down. No shops nothing around. Bathroom was one of the dirtiest i have ever seen in such a modern hostel. Beds like paper think super hard sleep. The outside area was not inviting, pool area super untidy and unclean, pool was dirty loads of dead bugs and discoloured. Only pillow cases and bottom sheet changed the duvet is not changed or washed which i witnessed a number of times the manager doing. Duvets have stains all over and worn out. No regular cleaner so can go days before cleaned. Building had no rep/receptionist very unorganised and self efficient vibe. The bar area is closed, literally so isolated with nothing to do there. Taxi charges 250bht for a 4 min drive to the bottom of the hill. Avoid!

The other travellers in the hostel. Nice and friendly. The hostel has so much potential but no effort put in at all to maintain the upkeep of the property as the design is pretty but dirty.

The location was very out of it and you can’t get taxis really so bike rental is essential. The pool was green which was really disappointing, bathroom very dirty with no loo roll we stayed here for two nights.

Storm, the owner, was so helpful and kind; she arranged a motorcycle for us and recommended a great local Thai restaurant. The hostel is about a 25 minute walk from the closest 7-11t/main road, so a car/scooter rental is necessary (this would be the case anywhere on the island as the main attractions are very spread out). The beds are comfortable as are the linens and pillows. The room and bathroom are cleaned everyday. The bathroom is HUGE. All facilities are modern in design and new. The WiFi and A/C work great. Love that each bed has individual power socket and light as well as plenty of storage. This is a newer hostel and Storm is always open to suggestions for improvement (she told us they're thinking of outting curtains on each bed and perhaps fixing up a communal kitchen).
