Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta, Iceland, Australia, Greece, Brazil and North Carolina. For properties in these regions, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomThere were a few renovations happening but they kept it low key and didn’t interfere with our stay. Just be aware that tides come right in at parts of the day which made it difficult to walk the full length of Khao Lak beach further north. You would have to walk along the roads.
Very clean, friendly staff and great location. Laid back vibe but with attention to detail. They were big on sustainability and the decor was quirky with a sheep theme. Right on the beach and excellent for sunset watching.

United StatesThe breakfast was not good at all - don't pay extra for it. Trash on beaches in Thailand is a big problem, but usually hotels keep their own beachfront areas fairly clean. Sadly, at this hotel, they did not.
We had an ocean-view room, which was slightly blocked by trees but still nice. The bed was VERY comfortable -- a rare thing at budget hotels in Thailand. Pool was very clean and family-friendly. There's a surf-board rental place next door. Walkable to quite a few restaurants.

Thailand- Breakfast and the brakefast place. Coffee was not very nice. - Even the mattress and the bedsheets are really good, but I don't like the way that the bed frame (which built-in concrete) is a lot bigger than the mattress so that makes it is not comfortable and sadly that it is built-in concrete so that nothing you can change.
The room design is very good, very clean. The mattress, bedsheet, towel and accessaries are the most excellent thing for this price of hotel. Location is very good. Staff was very friendly.

ItalyThe breakfast is awful, and I'd advise against paying extra for it if it's not already included in your rate. Even if it is, I'd suggest having breakfast elsewhere. It's served in a rather neglected gazebo on an even more neglected mini-beach. Sad fruit and vegetables without ice or anything to keep them fresh, cement flooring with smelly patches of old food and drinks accidents that haven't been cleaned in ages, stale cereals, and powdered coffee in a huge dispenser that's probably been boiling for days (and I suspect is responsible for my stomach ache). Very few choices, and what's available leaves much to be desired. In the room, there's a clear, waxy varnish applied to the long concrete surface that serves as a desk, wardrobe, and cabinet. It tends to stick to objects and can damage them. Lots of ants scurrying across the aforemenioned concrete surface and on my laptop and clothes. I mentioned this to housekeeping twice, but unfortunately, the issue was never fully resolved. It's not a major problem since ants are harmless, but it can be quite annoying when they get all over and inside your stuff.
This modern-style hotel is located right on Nang-Thong beach, about a 10-15 minute walk from Khao Lak's main street where you'll find all the restaurants and shops. For your immediate needs, there's a small restaurant, shop, and laundry service just outside the hotel, and a few more eateries and stores closer by. I highly recommend booking the sea-view room - you won't regret it. The rooms overlooking the pool are a bit underwhelming, but the beachfront ones are very relaxing, with views of a small shrine and waves that'll lull you to sleep. The soundproofing between rooms is excellent, though I could hear some noise from the gym through my floor. It's not a big deal though, as it closes at 10 PM. The room is spacious and honestly more comfortable and cozy than it appears in photos. The bed is incredibly soft, and everything smells fresh. If they painted the ceilings white, it'd be even better. The style is unique, 'urban', and reminds me a lot of Japan. In fact, instead of the usual coffee and tea sachets, you'll get two packets of freeze-dried matcha tea each day. In the room, you'll find a kettle, safe, air conditioning, perfectly working Wi-Fi, toiletries (plus slippers, toothbrushes, etc. available on request at reception), two glass bottles to fill at the dispenser in the hallway, and nice lighting (various lamps, LEDs, and spotlights around the room). There's endless space for setting up computers and electronic devices. The staff is super friendly and almost invisible, reminiscent of a residence concierge. The pool is very refreshing and much appreciated given that during monsoon season, Khao Lak's sea is murky and rough, only enjoyed by surfers. If this is your only stay in Thailand, I'd recommend spending a few nights somewhere more characteristic, but for a budget-friendly option, this hotel offers REALLY great quality. Thumbs up, and I'd definitely return.

IndonesiaStaff quote inflated prices that can be beaten further into to town. Paying a higher price, ostensibly to compensate the middleman for their role in arranging the transaction, is less preferable than, say, getting a fair price quoted and tipping the difference to the middlman and driver.

ThailandAlthough the hotel was close to the beach, it was quite a walk to the shops and main road. One of my reasons for choosing this place was the polished concrete finish in the room but my partner did not like it. Not to everyone's taste. The chlorine level in the pool was excessive.
Direct access to the beach. Although the restaurant was separate from the main hotel, it was very nice to eat breakfast with a view of the ocean. We chose a room with direct access to the pool which was very convenient. The staff were friendly.

AustraliaStayed in a pool access room. The pool is right outside of the rooms (obviously) but because of how the pool is shaped, i had to keep my curtains closed the whole time as people were right in front of my room in the pool so zero privacy. Even in the evening. Also lots of noise as well from the people and kids in the pool. The communal pool lounges were right in front of my room! These rooms are probably better if you have kids who are running in and out to the pool all day or if you don't mind having your bedroom door and curtains open for everyone to see in. There is no lift which is why i chose to stay on the ground floor. So if you have heavy bags, keep that in mind. Hotel grounds are small and very average. The aircon in the room is very large and very loud even on low so i turned it off whilst i was sleeping.
Rooms were large and clean and the beds were huge and so comfortable! Hotel is just behind the main strip of shops etc but a nice little restaurant directly next door for some Thai food and a drink. Hotel has a small gym and is 100m or so from the beach. You can ask for a beach towel from reception. There is a water filter machine in the hallway to refill your water bottles, and water jugs and glasses are also provided in the room. TV was large and modern and worked well.
