Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomAs expected and warned, it was a bit noisy. Again, as expected due to the nature of phi phi, the sewage smell wasn’t pleasant. The rooms could also do with better lighting and better toiletries.
Staff were amazing, really great reception from Mel and couldn’t do enough for you. Property was really unique and on the front of phi phi beach.

Nice location; loved the antic design of house like a boat. Food at the restaurant was very good. Facilities in the loan (merged with the beach) was awesome! Loved the small corridor with table chair.

United StatesGreat location and overall vibe. Probably not for everyone. It is old and dated and a bit dark. But it was full of charm that I enjoyed. Felt like staying in a tree house. The grounds were nice, comfortable and relaxing and the staff couldn't have been nicer.

United KingdomThe smell was overwhelming most of the time. The staff were so used to it they didn’t seem to think there was a problem, I think it was just that end of the island unfortunately and I don’t think there was much they could do about it, we had to keep the drains covered in the bathroom to reduce the smell as much as possible
The staff were lovely and the vibe of the main area was perfect, sunsets are probably the best in Phi Phi.

United KingdomStill needs some work and could've been a little cleaner but we were happy with it.
I liked the quirky style of the building and the seating area next to the sea, although the wonky floors etc might not be for everyone. Staff were really friendly.

United Arab EmiratesIt was much noisier at night than we expected. Any sound outside sounded like it was nearly in your room, or right outside the door since there was no insulation to buffer the sound. Earplugs are a must for sleeping. The stairs to the rooms are quite steep, so make sure you have good knees. We managed fine, but if you have mobility issues, this is NOT the place for you. When the tide is out, the smell is not great, and you really can't swim in the sea near the hotel, so the lack of a pool was a bit of a bummer, but not a huge issue, as we could simply go to the beach elsewhere.
It was a funky treehouse, so very unique. The room was as described. The view during the day when the tide is in is lovely. The food was also fair at the restaurant. The staff were nice. It is a rustic location, and they don't pretend otherwise, so just know that going in, and read the reviews and the descriptions so you aren't surprised.

United KingdomThe noise from the beach was no issue. The only issue which is utterly out of the hotels control was a bonkers and erratic tattooist rightoutside our window. He loved anglegrinding until early hours of the morning, swinging knives around generally making a lot of noise all night.
The staff were great and the rooms were great. Before our visit the correspondence with the owner was great and they were very honest about possible noise and cats... kittens were adorable.

United KingdomIt’s basically a tree house so floors are a little uneven and there’s gaps in the walls so you can hear everything outside and people in the other rooms.
I loved how friendly the staff were, and how clean the room was, very good value for money as it has a fridge, freezer, air con, kettle, towels etc. very well maintained. The view is amazing! Close to the viewpoint walk and far enough away from the middle of the night life to be a bit quieter.

United Arab EmiratesLoved absolutely everything.
Loved everything about the Sunflower Boathouse. Our room was as it is in the pictures on site. The staff on-site are wonderful especially Fai, he took care of us, arranged our day time activities and more. A must try is the food here, the noodles, rice and fish cakes were our favourites and the Tom Yum soup was just heavenly (we had it at every meal). The room has all basic amenities which included a fridge and TV (which we never used as the hammocks and bean bags overlooking the sea is just the thing you want to view). Look around the restaurant area and you will see half longtail boats, the furniture in there has a history which you must learn about. Fai was kind enough to tell us the story and it's a story you should know. The sunset is just gorgeous and should not be missed. We had absolutely zero complaints and the stay was well worth it. Our next trip to Phi Phi, we will be definitely staying at the Sunflower Boathouse. Bear in mind this is not a fancy hotel but rather a place where you feel alive, it is an experience of love, life and laughter. Mel was very responsive to any queries we had before and during our stay. She is such a wonderful host. Thank you Mel.

United KingdomBathroom is very basic but it’s nothing bad considering the location!
Really cool place with a beautiful view of the sea, it’s a unique property you feel like you are staying in a tree house. There are lots of friendly cats around too who we bought treats for from the shops close by. I’d love to come by again. They even had mosquito nets but I barely noticed any bugs which surprised me.

United KingdomThis quirky little boat house is a beautiful hidden gem on the Island of Phi Phi. The exterior is very fitting for the happy, chilled vibe as it forms a treehouse of cosy rooms which is the perfect abode for your stay on the island. It has something for everyone. The sports bar overlooking the beach has a pool table and sociable drinking area which brings a very familiar feeling of home, to Thailand. The outdoor area is the most relaxing and picturesque part of the accommodation, offering comfortable seating such as hammocks and bean bags making you feel laidback and at peace. The rooms are kept well clean and tidy, offering top quality air conditioning as well as mosquito nets so that you won’t get bitten at night. There’s also a fridge which comes in very handy for keeping your own drinks and snacks in. The food and drinks served at Sunflower are delicious and such good value for money - we especially loved the fresh lemon juice! The best part of our experience was the team. Mel, Fai and the rest of the Sunflower family were so welcoming and friendly from the get go. Fai met and greeted us at the port when we arrived and walked us 10 minutes to the accommodation with a trolley for our bags. He was also polite enough to do this for us when we left the island (something that is not expected of him)! During our quieter times sat at the bar and playing pool we learnt about the history of Sunflower and everyone a part of it. It was really heartwarming to learn Mel and Fai’s stories and we were touched at how much they opened up to us. Sunflower truly has a special place in our hearts and was our favourite accommodation in Thailand, we couldn’t recommend it enough. We loved it so much that we even got tattoos to remember it by (see photos). We will definitely be back to visit again one day and wish Mel, Fai and the team all the best in the meantime. Thank you for your 10/10 hospitality, we miss you and Sunflower all very much.

United KingdomThe biggest let down was the unfortunate smell coming from the sweage plant next door. The smell was over whelming at times and affected our sleep. The running water in the shower and taps didn't seem clean and had a poor smell to it also. The bed sheets were stained and overall cleanliness was poor. There is a lot of noise coming from nearby bars which is to be expected and can't be helped.
The staff were excellent and very helpful. They offered free bottled water with your stay and gave discounts on the drinks in the bar. They met us at the pier and escorted us and our bags to the hotel which was very helpful. Air con was excellent and room was kept cool. Location was good as right on the beach.
