Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomThe aircon cut out in the middle of the night, it was unbearable to sleep. It needs to be more powerful for the size of the rooms.
We were welcomed with a freezing cold damp flannel and a juice which was so refreshing! We had got off the boat and walked all the way to reception - not realising that there were buggies to take you to and from (you can get this from by the restaurant on the beach). The hotel does not serve alcohol, but there is a bar a short walk up from the beach or a shop round the corner. The pool was lovely and cool and the location was absolutely perfect.

ThailandNothing, it was great
Spacious rooms, good breakfast, several pools, great location walking distance to bars and restaurants yet still tucked away so very quiet at night, easy to get to from the pier as its right across the street. beach access with nice beachfront restaurant. The staff was very friendly and accommodating, even gave us a free room upgrade. I would love to come back and stay here again

United StatesOur room was uniquely located near the garbage and it often smelled like sewage and garbage. Nowhere else on property seemed to have that problem.
The location is right on the beach. The staff was wonderful. Breakfast was delicious. It was completely peaceful.

JordanThe staff at the breakfast restaurant could be more helpful. Additionally, the hotel staff, in general, could improve their English language skills for easier communication, but I understand that this issue is not unique to this hotel.
This was our first visit to Railay Beach, my wife and I were celebrating our wedding anniversary. The hotel made a thoughtful gesture, which meant a lot to us (photo attached, although we were celebrating our wedding anniversary, not honeymoon). The location is excellent, just a 2-3 minutes walk from the pier if you arrive via Ao Nam Mao pier from Krabi (which I highly recommend to avoid dragging luggage through the beach sand and jellyfish). We stayed in a bungalow, which was clean and well-maintained by housekeeping. Surrounded by nature, we even saw an Asian water monitor crossing the path between the bungalows every morning and evening. Contrary to other reviews, we didn't encounter any insects or rats in our room; it was spotless. Breakfast offered a good variety of options, and the restaurant, located at the west beach, provided an amazing view. The pools were clean and inviting, though the one at the west beach was always crowded. The staff were incredibly helpful and responsive. On our first night, when we got lost (the premises are huge) and it was raining, a staff member kindly provided us with umbrellas and guided us to the walking street. I'll definitely choose Sand Sea Resort for my next stay in Railay Beach.

United KingdomThe bungalow was great and in a good location of the resort, but the decor in our bungalow was very dated, these rooms would be excellent but just simple decor and painting. The breakfast is good but the resort needs to invest in two good coffee machines, only one working and dispenses black coffee only 🙃
Great location, resort runs between both east and west beach.

AustraliaWe would definately stay here again, but we would not have breakfast included. The food was fresh but often items ran out quickly, and did not get replaced promptly. Often the tables were not cleared for some time, making it difficult to determine which tables were free. The breakfast staff were often not appearing very happy, but these are all things that are easily fixed.
Reception, gardeners and house Keeping staff were exceptional and kind, the room was amazing, the view and location fantastic

United KingdomNot the hotel's fault but the large pool is the best contraceptive device in Thailand.
Tough one this. The staff were lovely and tried to help as much as possible. Booking.com have the hotel listed as on west beach and charge more accordingly, but the actual hotel is spread the width of the distance between East and West beach, so upon arrival it's possible that you will be based on the less picturesque east side, when you could have paid a fraction of the price for another hotel. The staff clearly get this problem/ complaint a lot however and did their best to accommodate us closer to West beach. The rooms, like most of the hotels we've experienced during 3 weeks in Thailand could do with a little maintenance/updating with stains in the bath and toilet etc. The breakfast is absolutely woeful, don't bother. Just go to the walking street for breakfast instead. The wildlife (not including the feral kids being allowed to disrupt everyone else by irresponsible parents) on display was great though. So there's that.

CanadaThe bungalow we originally booked wasn't the greatest in terms of size and the air conditioning wasn't working great.

AustraliaThe beach is full of jelly fish (again not hotels fault). I’m surprised there have been no reviews about this. One cannot swim without being stung. And there are no warning signs up. Hotel needs to be more environmentally conscious. Stop using single use plastic straws and cups! The island of Railey is very far behind in this area. The amount of plastic waste is horrific. There should be a rule that one cannot leave a towel on a lounger for more than an hour unattended. We witnessed loungers sitting with towels on them with no use for an entire morning. Really unfair on other guests.
Beachfront, nice pool on the beach although very hot in April, more like a bath (not the hotels fault). Friendly staff. Beautiful location with incredible view, central, and quiet at night. Big rooms with good aircon. Cheese at breakfast would be lovely.
