Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomOne of the plug sockets was faulty in the room and one of the bathroom windows was broken/slightly ajar and as a result had a gecko in the room! The pool didn’t have many sun loungers around and were often taken, small terrace where you could also bathe but I think hotel would benefit from putting a couple of extra beds on there as a family was sharing beds/floor due to not enough loungers.
Beautiful location! Pool was lovely and staff were attentive to needs. Room was nice. Shuttle service provided to get up/down from the resort especially with cases this was very helpful.

United StatesThe pool has a lack of sun umbrellas. Only two to four were available on the days we were there. It was very hot and the sun was strong, so without umbrellas the pool wasn’t very enjoyable. The staff said they couldn’t use more umbrellas because of the wind. It was breezy, but they didn’t secure the umbrellas to the bases which may have mitigated the issue.
The room was nice and there were nice views from the pool and restaurant. Some members of the staff were helpful and friendly, particularly the breakfast staff.

AustraliaPrice tag is a little too high. The resort is lovely, but not quite worth the price tag.
Beautiful pool to relax in and watch the world go by. Bedroom was lovely, clean and spacious. Easy walk into the main town (less than 10 minutes). Breakfast was great- tons of things to choose from.

United KingdomWe left our bags as we couldn’t check in. When we returned my bag had already been taken to the room, but the bags of my Thai friends had not! They were upset by this!
This was a welcome bit of luxury for us at the end of our trip. We had a family room which was enormous. So much room! Huge bathroom. The room was very clean and beautifully set out when we arrived. Reception were very welcoming and we received free drinks on arrival. The facilities such as the pool, bar and free shuttle down the hill were all very good. The view from the pool is stunning and you can watch climbers on the karst nearby! Breakfast was a good choice, including Thai food. It was well worth spending the money for a bit of luxury. I wish we could have stayed longer.

GermanyEverything was great.
We stayed there as a family with a 19 and a 15 year old daughter for 10 nights and booked 2 grand deluxe rooms. This hotel is amazing and we fell immediately in love with this peaceful paradise. The location is simply lovely, the lush tropical surroundings are balm and soul food. The rooms were spacious and comfortable and beautiful. The breakfast was great with warm spicy dishes, all kind of egg dishes freshly made and continental breakfast like toast, honey, bread, muffins etc. It is just a ten minute walk to the beach, often with monkeys accompanied, we loved the show. We chose the private transfer from and to the airport and would recommend it, it was perfect and inexpensive. The offer of Thai massage and cooking courses is great, we really enjoyed it. Also the food for lunch/dinner at the terrace near the pool as always tasty and good priced. The staff was simply wonderful, always friendly and helpful. It is heaven on earth, intimate and gorgeous. No better place in Railay! Perfect for everybody.

United KingdomOnly down side nothing to do with hotel was the jelly fish and it was super hot while we were there.
Staff were amazing. Lovely little walk to main bars etc past an amazing cave to look in and monkeys. Scenery and plants were beautiful. Nice little pool always a free bed with best little bar for food and drinks. Looked like all accommodation was close to pool but completely private. Room was big with a huge very comfortable bed. Great a/c. Nice breakfast with plenty of options. Can’t rate this enough and I don’t normally do reviews.

United KingdomThere aren't many sunbeds and they all get taken up very quickly so we werent able to sit around the pool. Bit dissapointing if you want to sunbathe or relax in the afternoon.
We absolutely loved this hotel. The views are amazing and the hotel itself has character and is very clean. The pool area is relaxing and the food is lovely. The staff are really helpful and go above and beyond. We booked a private transfer from the hotel to Krabi airport, very organised and quick, I would recommend this if you have an early flight.

United KingdomWouldn’t be great for people with mobility issues.
This property is absolutely wonderful! Set in the lush Thai jungle with a backdrop of cliffs, simply stunning. Really felt like we had been transported into jungle paradise. Our room was completely gorgeous, colonial style, beautiful beds comfortable beds, mini bar and great air con. Staff were so respectful and attentive. Pool and bar area is great, pool stays open until 10pm which was good for us, nice to watch the bats leaving the cave at dusk. We spotted monkeys in the trees around our room. The walk ‘into town’ is only about ten minutes and there is a Tuk Tuk schedule to assist every couple of hours. Railay is stunning. Very relaxed, independent, hippy vibe.

GermanyThe door to the room was very thin so you could hear anyone walking by. The shower didn't warm up that well but it didn't really matter since it's already so hot outside.
I loved that this hotel was tucked away from the main walking street in Railay but was still only about a 5 minute walk from there and 6-7 minutes to East Railay pier. The staff at Railay Phutawan was very kind and attentive. The room was clean and comfortable. The breakfast buffet had a large variety and a great view!

CanadaThe pool was often crowded, with limited seating poolside. However, there were tables in nearby areas - and that worked pretty well for us. We didn't enjoy the music played at the pool; it was too loud and it just didn't fit with the serenity and beauty of the surroundings. As a consequence, we didn't use the pool as much as we thought we would. It was confusing to find the place initially and to set up the pick-up with the hotel. Better instructions for people arriving by boat would be great, as it was all a bit bewildering - and we definitely needed the tuktuk to get us (and our luggage!) up the mountain!! That said, the pick-up and drop-off service was great - much appreciated.
The room was very large and well appointed. Setting is very special as the hotel affords fabulous views of the mountains and the Sea. The infinity pool is gorgeous and well maintained. Breakfasts were in a lovely outdoor setting, with lots of choices. Beverage and food service poolside was attentive and friendly. Watching mountain climbers was fun too!

NetherlandsIt can be tiring going up and down multiple times during the day to different beaches or to try different restaurants. Pool stair tiles need to be repaired asap, it might be quite dangerous. Food at the pool restaurant was good but expensive with small quantities. Railey in general was not so clean and the sea was full of jelly fish, so better to stay longer in a nice beach at Phi Phi rather than several days at Railey
The hotel has a great location with a nice vibe and atmosphere. Staff was very welcoming and helpful. The bar at the pool was great and gave a nice vibe to the setup. Breakfast was very good with both Thai and international choices. Having a pool to refresh yourself at night is a plus! Location minimize risk in case of Tsunami.

AustraliaThe bathroom was tiny, which was fine, but had an unpleasant drain smell at times. I think this couldnt be helped, and it was certainly very clean. Everywhere we stayed in Thailand, our bathrooms looked to have been scrubbed and polished to within an inch of their lives, and Phutawan was no exception. Netflix didn't work on the TV the whole time we were there, but that's not really a deal breaker when you're staying in paradise! Great spread at breakfast but the 'hot' food items were actually served cold, at least when we tried them. The shuttle from the beach was very hard to find, on our arrival. I couldn't understand the lady on the phone. I recommend they make it clear before arrival, where the shuttle will be. Those are a few cons, but honestly, it was wonderful and I hope to be back some time.
Railay is fantastic, everything is located close together, and this resort was also very well located. It was a very short walk away from the main walking streets, which was perfect really. It was so tranquil. And it's as beautiful as looks in the pictures. I would certainly stay here again. Our room was small but lovely. It was very handy to have the clothes drying rack, and a balcony to put it on. There was a beautiful monkey in the trees nearby, one morning. We loved the elephant towel arrangements but unfortunately, travelling with an 8 year old meant we were forced to leave one of the two towel sculptures unused, for the duration of our stay! The pool is so beautiful and on two nights, we ate dinner on the deck just below. The food was good and it was very peaceful. Shout out to staff member John who was very friendly and gave us extra good service!

Lovely hotel with beautiful bungalows and great pool and bar menu. Breakfast served in a lovely location too. All staff very helpful during our stay and the shuttle service is appreciated due to the hill that the hotel is on so you do not need to carry bags up. Cocktail were very great and a good choice at breakfast.

BrazilThe facilities are a bit aged and some (pool and bathroom) need maintenance. They also could offer some umbrellas at the pool We also didn’t see flexibility from the hotel on early checkin, we arrived at the hotel at 12:30 and, different from the other hotels in Thailand and Vietnam which we stayed these days, the hotel only release the room at 2pm as per their guideline (not a minute earlier). .
The staff is very friendly and helpful. The location is very nice. Pictures from the pool look amazing.
