Staffs (except for the lady who is a manager) could be nicer to thai customers. The manager alone seems to understand what client service is about. Moreover some people on the floor where I stayed were allowed to smoke weeds. The smell was so disgusting for a few days.

I checked in at around 6 pm, when the check in was completed I had to ask someone to assist me with bringing my big luggages to the room. It should not be the customer who has to ask.

I felt the corridors and rooms to be a bit gloomy and eerie. I love the old nostalgic feels yet this seemed a bit more ancient not that great kinda way They can actually work it out better. Also a suggestion, if its a hotel staff needs to know basic English, no? And I do basic Thai with people around. Anyhoo, I will explore it once again if it just picks up a bit!

Good location to explore Phuket Old Town, only a 10-15 minute walk down the road to get to the centre. It’s a nice and quiet location.

Its gonna bi a lot of small thinks, firstly the staff is little bit"old" and they just don't care. We told 3 times that our safe is not closing, also it was little bit dirty (in the fridge staff forgot to clean after previous guests) and ofc furniture is so old. But we found it like an experience to live in a hotel "from the past"

I like the location its just 10-15 min to the center of OldTown! Big parking. The style go bathroom what so 80-s, likes your are in the movie. Its normal to stay for couple days.

The pool was in the shade for most of the day as it was behind the building, made it a bit chilly. The room interior was a bit dated. The shower head was not very nice, like a high pressure hose spraying you.

The reception staff were very helpful and welcoming. There was a great pool. The bed was huge and there were good views out the window.

Pool was quite small and went into the shade from about 14:00 for the remainder of the day. It was clean but looked like it needed a revamp.

Very convenient for walk to Old Town Phuket and the Vachira Hospital where I was attending.

Friendly staff, easy check in, large rooms, good selection for breakfast including local and some continental. 15 min walk to Centre of old town however we didn’t mind the walk at all, especially for price.

The meals could definitely have more variety, there was a Captains bar that was never open and could only get a cocktail during happy hour, when we asked for a drink got told "you missed happy hour" and couldn't get a drink.

The room was very comfortable as was the bed, overall the hotel was clean and well appointed. The meals whilst tasty lacked in variety. We found the pool to be very nice and enjoyed hours of peace there. The staff were very helpful and friendly but reserved. We will be back to stay at the Merlin.

The "gym" is not really a gym. They just have a tower standing beside the pool. Each side of the tower can be used for other exercises. It was good enough to get the job done. But would I call this a gym? I don't think so! At the first looks, we were kind of impressed with the room. But after leaving and coming back in the evening, we realized that there were bugs everywhere! At the floor, the desk, and even in the bed! We went to the reception to report this issue and to get a new room, but all they did was to apologise and promised to deep clean the room the next day.. That is not what I would like to have as a service for that amount of money they are charging for the stay.

The breakfast was very good. A lot to choose from. The pool looked nice. The room was relatively big. The bed was comfy.

The hotel is very old so of course don’t expect any modern designs or new feel to the room/facilities.

Merlin hotel is a very good budget stay for Phuket Old town. It’s located quite near the central area about 10 min walk and it’s in a quiet area. The room was clean and comfortable and the bathroom was also good with great water pressure and hot water. Staff were really nice and we enjoyed the fruits and banana bread at breakfast.
