Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta, Iceland, Australia, Greece, Brazil and North Carolina. For properties in these regions, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

New ZealandThe lady who owns the place doesn’t know any English but her husband does so if you’re struggling to check in she will call him on the phone
Dorm beds are proper mattresses so pretty comfortable and each bunk had full curtains. Facilities are pretty clean The dorm rooms are also usually really quiet so you can get sleep any time of the day or night without being woken. There’s a nice communal area across the road with a kitchen and hammocks and it’s great for meeting other travellers. Over all super good value for what you pay I’ve stayed in much worse hostels for a lot more money plus you can extend your stay for as long as you’d like so you can book for a night or two to see if you like it first

United KingdomMost of the guests there are long timers so there's not much turnover so it's a bit harder to meet other travellers but I guess if you want some peace and quiet then it's great.
So, as mentioned in previous comments the staff have no idea about internet bookings so you just need to hope they have a room or bed when you get there. But once you have a bed it's all very informal and easy enough. The place was renovated last year so it looks fine and is clean. There is an area across from the main building with table and chairs on the sea front and it has hot and cold water and a kitchen so it's very handy.

GermanyThe construction work was very noisy from 8 in the morning. The rooms are not entirely mosquito proof. If u come in November 2023 or later, they will be probably finished with the construction.
Very Helpful Owner and Manager!! Directly at the beach (30-100m)! 100 Thb per night!! Was here in April, we were 2 people in a 8 people dorm. Nice showers and toilets, strong water and warm shower from the sun. We could use a fridge and a gas stove to cook. Free drinking water how much u want. Few shops in walking distance. If u can eat Thai food, go right if u get out of the resort to the curry place, they goy sweets and 4 choices of curry every day. Very good price.

ItalyBetter and more clean , but they are on working mode, so I think it just need more time....loooooong time, considering it's koh phayam :)
Basically it's a place under construction, most of time there is nobody from the hostel around, but it's exactly what I expected from reviews and for the price almost free. Really, you can't complain if you pay 2 euro a night or similar. And most important, it's just the vibe of the island, so go with the flow , expect just basics, and very interesting people to meet there. If you are travelling alone its very good

Czech Republicthe bathrooms are dirty. no toilet paper, and it seemed like it wasn’t really washed. sadly it’s the travellers making it dirty with their poor hygiene habits, but after all it should be the staff making sure it’s sanitized properly, which it wasn’t. the rooms are hot, and Altho there’s a fan above each bed, it’s so noise you can’t sleep with it on. could be fixed easily.
the place has a great potential, if only taken care off. it’s close to the pier and shops, the beach is ok, you can swing no problem, Altho the Long Beach is much nicer. well sized rooms. owner is nice but either he doesn’t care enough or I don’t know. shame, this really could be great.

ThailandThe owner had no respect for his guests. He would allow his perverted friends to come to the guesthouse to check out the young tourist girls
There was a kitchen available, but the owner and his woman were using it as well, and they were always arguing with clients about every little detail. Many people did not feel good using the kitchen

ArgentinaWe booked a double room with a double bed and they had only available a twins bedroom, also we booked for a price through Booking and when we arrived the woman charged a higher price. The communication was impossible, the woman seemed nice, but we didn't feel comfortable to stay longer, we booked for 3 nights but only stayed 1.
The hostel is very well located, just a few steps from the Pier.

MexicoAs I say, I cannot complain. It was goog enough for the great price.
The cheapest place in Phayham but it's good enough for the price. I stayed for almost two weeks. The owner seems to never be around but there is a lady wondering around who doesn't speak english but surely you'll find her very charming and helpful, she even did my laundry. Also the hostel has a common area in front with 2 hammocks and free water. Surely you'll meet other amazing people staying here. Don't forget to bring your own lock if you want to use the lock.

Spaineverything except the price
no one was there at our arrival. we had to wait, someone came up and wasnt aware about our reservation. the hostel hasnt been cleaned in ages, its very dirty and theres sand everywhere. the owners are too worried building a new hostel right next to it and they just ignore this one. we had to do our own check out because no one was there. the rooms are big but the windows cant be closed properly and there were many mosquitos. the only good thing was the price and the distance from the pear (literally 1 minute walking)

Czech RepublicThere is no mosquito net in bungalow, no mirror, no handbasin and you can put your things only on the floor. The bed hasnt a good mattress and there was anthill inside of the bungalow. I couldnt close the door from inside and even if I asked the owner noone came to repair it.
Good location. Near the pier and in half way to both sides of the island. There are things to make your own coffee/tea.
