Bathroom was very not clean. Shower looked like if haven't been cleaned for a long time. Toilet was not clean as well. The room itself was clean and nice. Nothing to do around but we were just enjoying the place.

Probably the best location on the Tanote bay. Excellent entry to the water and beautiful corals. Quite good food in their restaurant (but not all the options). Lovely people working there. Very quiet at night. Good aircon. Great view from the room. The room was very spacious and excellent for 3 persons.

Fridge made a lot of noise so I put it in the enormous bathroom. The rest of the place (restaurant, beach front) was nice but it was at some places getting a bit worn. Nevertheless the very friendly staff, good food and very good breakfast, easily made up for it. They don’t have a swimming pool, yet there is one at Buddha view diving which you can use so that was also not a big miss. Stayed there 4 nights with 2 small kids.

Very nice place, amazing views and very good for snorkelling as well! Luxurious and large rooms. We had the 3 bedroom one, right at the beach. With glass all around the view was amazing.

This is our second stay at Mountain Reef Beach Resort. Excellent the last time, excellent this time. The resort is located on the beach in Tanote Bay. A very privileged location. This is the best location on Koh Tao as far as we are concerned. The snorkeling is pretty good. We booked a king room on the second floor. The bed is comfy, the AC is cold, the shower is hot, there is a refrigerator, safe, and plenty of space to put your things. You have a big outside deck with chairs to sit. The restaurant is excellent. Both the breakfast and the dinners are excellent. They rent snorkel gear, they can book you an all around the island snorkeling trip, and they can get you a ride to and from the ferry. The staff is extremely friendly and are always available to help. They have a well stocked ice cream refrigerator to purchase treats. The resort is quiet and relaxing. Couldn't ask for a better stay. Right on the beach you can hear waves whilst you sleep. The staff were so lovely. My son was ill, they wrote us a sweet note and gave us paracetamol, very thoughtful. It’s only 10mins ride to the pear, really close. They have a nice taxi man that picked up and drive us around the island. The food is delicious. Everything we had was super tasty! Kids enjoyed the best banana pancakes & fruit shakes!

- included breakfast is limited to 1 meal and 1 drink per person and the portions are rather small. Additional meals are not expensive but it still feels unnecessary to limit it this way. - terrible WiFi in our room („triple room with sea view“)

+ travelling with a 1.5 yo kid, we highly recommend this place for a couple of days + very friendly staff: family-run place with kind people + excellent food for reasonable prices (restaurant open all day long, you don’t need any groceries, just go to the restaurant whenever you are hungry) + very calm and secluded + great taxi driver („Nine“) who you can directly contact via WhatsApp for any trips and pickups around the island (300-400 Baht one way, depending on where you go) + location on the southern end of Tanote bay, excellent for snorkeling with a private beach area + room much nicer than on pictures („triple room with sea view“)

Just a remark, this is not a dislike, if you want to try a night life get a scooter or prepare for costy taxi, its not possible to move around on foot

I loved everything about the place. If you are looking for a quiet place where you can relax, snorkel, eat very well because the hosts serve super tasty food, this is the place for you. Take a scooter if you want to get around

We chose it for its remoteness and silence. It’s far from all the noise on the island which might be a problem for people looking for a shop.

The most friendly staff on the island. Excellent location for snorkeling, their cook is amazing. The rooms are located directly by the beach in the forest.

Amazing double bedroom with perfect view on the beach ! The room included 2 double beds and mosquito nets + bathroom +sun beds in front of the room on the beach! All very clean and we'll decorated. The staff were amazing, so nice and dedicated, and so friendly with our children who loved them! 100% recommended ! They also have sevrezl nice breakfast option and a good restaurant We'll be back!

The rooms were not that cleaned though and the furniture was very old. We dropped our bag on top of one the furniture and it got full of termites. We can understand that as it’s in the middle of nature, but some maintenance could turn this hotel into an amazing spot.

It is a super relaxing place. The coral reef in front of the hotel makes it a perfect spot. If you want to move around the island, you need to rent a scooter, as the taxis from and to this location are 800 BTHs or more. The first transfer (from the pier to the hotel) can be arranged by the hotel for free. The staff at the hotel are all super friendly and always willing to help. We asked to be changed to a room with airco and they immediately arranged it. The food at their restaurant was also super tasty!

Tanote Bay is a quiet place . The beach is the best snorkilng place in Koh Tao. Room and bathroom were large and clean. The restaurant and the beach are at 50 meters from the room.

Be aware that the place is quite secluded and not many restaurants around or any other facilities. The room and bathroom were huge and the poor AC wasn’t able to cool the entire place down

Beautiful hotel directly on the beach with direct immediate access to magnificent corals in the beach’s reef. The family who owns the place were extremely nice and went above and beyond to help with all I needed. Room was quite comfortable and extremely large. Perfect place if you want to spend time away from the hassle

Not a dislike but some little touches like a kettle in room and hand soap etc would be good Bit of a tidy up under the balcony and updating of loungers (quite hard and some broken) would be all it needs I think

A few attentions to detail mentioned above. TV didn’t work, aircon in one of the rooms didn’t go cool, no hand towel or soap for after the WC

The best thing about this hotel was the location. The staff were also lovely. The room Was huge but they didn’t clean it or change the open bins routinely and it was a bit lost in translation so we went 3 days. The tv was enormous but pointless as not tuned. No hand towels and no hand soap which is a bit unhygienic but beach towels were helpful. The restaurant was really nice with a lovely open view. All in all good place as right on the beach but I feel that for the money (it’s pretty pricey), a few things should have been better. Also it’s a little frustrating saying my 14 and 13 year old could be free in a double room but actually I just had to get an extra double room. I would have opted to save money and have us all in one but I suppose they felt it would be too crowded. The staff were super nice and very helpful

Clean and very nice family room. No airco, but fans and open windows kept it cool enough. Staff is very lovely and were very nice to the kids. Nice snorkelling right of the beach.
