Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

AustraliaThe 113 stairs I had to walk up to get there.

United KingdomBe aware that there are a lot of stairs to climb to get to this property, so if you have difficulty walking then this will not be the place for you
Large room with big double bed, very clean and comfortable. Good AC and has a fridge to keep drinks nice and cool.

CanadaCheck in must be done at nearby moms restaurant but notification sent day of reservation so must monitor your msgs day-of. Note if you head all the way to room (walk + stairs to climb), will be wasted effort as restaurant for checking in is before the accommodation. Nice staff at hostel advised me and let me leave bags at bottom of hill to go check in first (assuming this is common occurrence). No big issue, just be aware as will likely have had some travels prior to arriving.
Comfy, loads of space and awesome balcony. Shared space with hostels so privacy with option to engage with other backpackers. Quiet because up hill. Good AC, towels, fridge, shelving/hanging/vanity mirror set up. I loved walking up the stairs forward of cold showers (but also good hot water) but be aware if heavy bags or no cardio, it’s a challenge. Nearby loads of restaurants and shops.

United KingdomThe location of the place! Was hard to find where it was, maybe the staff need to message and say where they should be checking in. Apperently you check in at a restaurant that not even by the hotel. The hotel is by Blanco hideout.

AustraliaThere was no flat screen TV, as advertised in room details. However, I negotiated an additional night at a discount so that was ok.
Spacious room with great views. Fridge, kettle and pool. There's also a bath, which is fabulous for removing all the red soil after the lagoon climb. They provide a room clean and new water every day, which is unusual at this budget price. Ignore other reviews about the steps - they're fine. I'm 64 yrs old and easily managed them 4-5 times a day. Also, I can't understand the complaints about the roosters crowing. You're in rural Thailand, people. The onsite staff, especially the cleaner-security-maintenance guy, were lovely but the Mom's Kitchen (where you check in) staff were a bit surly.

AustriaThe Check in was kinda strange. You have to Check in at a Restaurant called Mom Kitchen. After that you can climb up all those stairs with your luggage to the Hotel. This isn't actually a problem for me but it would be nice to know such things in advance but they didn't give me any information about it.
It was okay, it is a cheaper Option to sleep in Railey beach in comparision to a Resort. The room was OK.

United KingdomThe stairs on the walk up are very inconvenient (and not suitable for anyone with even minor mobility issues), there were about 15 cockerels and chickens that started being loud at 4:30am every morning (and the doors are not soundproof) and the bathroom was very dingy and the water didn’t drain properly leaving sand everywhere.
Comfy bed, lots of space in the room, aircon was fixed at a good temperature with a fan to help too, staff very friendly. Good value for money with many many overpriced places in Railay! Such a small place location doesn’t really matter as everywhere is a 15 minute walk.

United StatesNo reception -- you check in at a restaurant that's often closed -- so if you have a problem it can be hard to find someone. My AC was having problems, entering some kind of "F0" error mode. Eventually solved by turning the temperature up, but I think the AC needs to be maintenanced.
Friendly cleaner guy, good views from up on the hill, big room with porch.

PolandIt was very noisy at night and not at all from the party/bar. I was woken up by noises coming from outside and under the house. Also, the roosters living in the garden started crowing loudly at 4 AM. The bathroom and air conditioning definitely needs renovation.
The staff was very nice and helpful. Beautiful view from the top is fully worth climbing the stairs. The room was spacious with a large bed and balcony.

United KingdomThe decor is very dated but I knew this when booking. There’s a lot of stairs to climb and it’s out the way of the main strip so there’s lots of walking etc but we didn’t mind this at all.
The pool is good which is shared with blanco hostel. The air con was good and you see lots of monkeys from the balcony.

RomaniaThe walls are a bit thin so you can clearly hear your neighbors and the location is almost the farthest it could be from the Railay West (still walkable).
It’s an interesting place to stay. Something like living in a hostel with private rooms in a good way. The meeting points for everyone are the pool and the bar where you can hang out. And every night there is a different scheduled event that is happening. Thankfully, the party lasts till a reasonable hour so you can get a rest if you plan to go rock climbing early in the morning.

GermanyWasn’t clean enough, the fridge was dirty, not sure if they change the bed duvet, didn’t feel dirty tho. We booked one night. Really nice view, there’s a swimming pool… first you have to go to mums kitchen to check yourself in, pay there for your reservation. We didn’t like the location at all, the beach where is located is very dirty and smelly, you have to go up a long stair, we travel with 5 kg backpack so wasn’t a problem. The installations are good, more like a backpacker place as they share the location with a hostel, mostly brits in their 20s, that’s wasn’t a problem for us as it didn’t seem like a party place, although there’s a bar downstairs that was playing music till late, but we couldnt hear the music from our room. I’ve stayed in better places in Thailand for €33. The staff was super friendly and kind.

United Statesbe aware that Railay has a lot of mosquitoes -- not the property's fault, but I got many bug bites inside and outside of my room. Also, the monkeys in the morning are sometimes loud on the roof.
great location with beautiful overlook of the water. The pool is shared with a nearby hostel, so the clientele is mostly young backpackers. That said, I didn't find it too loud and found the staff to be extremely helpful/friendly. The stairs to get to the hotel are a lot, but you get used to them and you can't beat being in Railay at this price.
