It was a bit weird that the owner only speaks French, no english, and he came up to us after dark without introducing himself to ask me to type my name into his phone in a WhatsApp chat. I found that a bit sus, but I think it's just how he confirms that you're who is meant to be staying in the given bungalow, as there is no real check-in or reception.

-no reception, you can only contact the owner on whatsapp but he only speaks french -I stayed in many similar accomodations around Thailand and I didn't like that you don't have access to drinking water. They only give you 2 small waters in plastic bottles a day. I had to carry plastic bottles from 7/11 everyday. I would very happily pay for a water refill. Most places have water in refillable glass bottles.

-very close to 7/11, restaurants and shops -not directly on the beach but 2mins walk from the beach which is really nice, but because of the low tides you can't swim most of the time -the housekeeping cleaned my room really properly everyday -the bungalow is spacious, bed very comfy -excellent wifi !!! I needed perfect wifi for video calls and haven't had problem once, amazing

Beach was poor, not really very sandy, mainly low rocks and coarse coral sand. Had to walk a bit to find swimming placea.

Filtered for beachfront in booking.com and got this. It is not a beachfront resort. You can walk a little dirty path along some other resort that has a beachfront to reach the beach. Could be a problem of booking.com.

Really liked this place. Very clean bungalows on the beach side of Klong Dao. Very peaceful. Beautiful gardens. The staff came in most days to clean our bungalow. We love Klong Dao as it is in the middle of the island so not far to go north to Saladan or south to Kantiang Bay. We would stay at El Matcha again.

The beach nearby is poor and rocky. A real letdown.

Characterful accommodation. The most comfortable bed in Thailand. Staff were gorgeous and so helpful. Clean, modern and tasteful.

Huge, comfortable, clean rooms. Great beds, pillows and bedlinen. Great location set back from the beach... for anyone that knows the area the sound-proofing is an added bonus, but there are no noisy neighbours anyway. Didn't see any staff, but check in works so well it wasn't a problem.

The only letdown was the lack of sunbeds or chairs on the indicated beach. Either side was better dressed for sun and sea enjoyment.

The cottage was clean and well serviced. Staff were helpful. The communal kitchen was also clean & tidy.

Our room was at the front of the mosque, so we awakened each morning at 5.30. .

Great staff, very clean, very big rooms. Communication about extending our stay was quick and clear. Bungalows in a really nice garden setting. Brerakfats and pool in hotel next door also very good. Being 3 minutes walk from the beach and 3 minutes from shops and bike hire the location was perfect for us.
