Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

IrelandThe owner was a lovely man who took the time to patiently teach us how to use a motorbike before renting it to us. The room and bathroom were spacious. Facilities could use a refresh eg; very old looking toaster and hairdryer in the room. Location is quite far from shops/restaurants and beach so a motorbike is a must.

IrelandMy room did have the odd insects in it, and the fridge turned off when I removed the keycard. The room was also a bit rundown, but I saw another room which was much more modern, so it seems to be luck of the draw. You'll definitely need to rent a scooter, since you're a bit away from the thick of things here.
It's hard to describe the charm of this place: It has something about it that quickly made me feel at home. Perhaps it's the charm of the host, Nan, who makes it so easy to rent a scooter from him (110cc for €150 per day), or who'll book your bus back to Krabi for you. Or perhaps it's having a pretty self-sufficient room in the centre of the island. The location, in the centre of the island, makes it easy to see all the main sites. The layout of the 6 rooms are communal, and it was easy to get chatting to the neighbours. I really loved this place.

GermanyBed is big but not the softest (although that seems to be the case in most places in Thailand)
We had a wonderful 10 day stay at Lanta Happy House! Nen was a very attentive host ready to help with anything we needed. Bedroom and bathroom both spacious with lots of space to lay out luggage, strong aircon, big fridge and possibility to refill drinking water in the courtyard. Nen also rents good scooters and organises laundry for a good price. The small property (5 rooms?) is in a lovely quiet place close to nature and the neighbors have cows and chickens. Less than 10 min walk to 7-Eleven and restaurants and close to the quiet Beautiful Beach that ended up being our favorite on the island. We also found the best snorkeling just at the beach directly down from 7-11 & Beautiful Beach!

United StatesThe bathroom really smelled bad, like sewage and we had a cockroach issue, I'm talking 5-10 cockroaches in the bathroom, though if you come to south east Asia... you will encounter them. Sewage smell is also super common in Thailand. Not an issue for us, but could be for a picky traveler.
The host is wonderful, such kind people. The room itself is very attractive, and modern. The room was clean. Location is good, and they offer motorbike rental. Also had free water and coffee. There are also tours and transport you can book directly which are cheaper than online. Overall we had a good stay!

EstoniaI seriously have nothing to say here. I loved my stay there very much.
I loved everything about it. Honestly. It was surrounded by a chill energy and the host there was a very kind and helpful man, that can help you organize your time there with various tours etc. Also, he rented motorbikes on the site, another very comfortable addition. The room felt like home, the environment was super quiet and i felt very rested leaving that place. Hope to come back soon!

United KingdomLocation is fine if you have a bike but might not work for some others. It's very rustic, so you need to be ok with bugs!
The owner, Nen, was super helpful and friendly. We loved how quiet the place was, felt like a more "local" experience than some of the other resorts / bungalows we saw. Very good value for money. We liked the hammock. Room was big and AC worked well. Bed was on the firmer side but we liked that.

United KingdomNothing, genuinely loved this place.
This was my favourite place we stayed in our whole 6 months of travel! The owner is the sweetest man who went above and beyond to make our stay perfect, always offering us fresh fruits etc that he had grown. The bungalows are beautiful and so peaceful, and it felt like real authentic Thailand which we just loved. The property is just down the road from 7eleven, all the main restaurants and both ‘beautiful beach’ and ‘Khong Khlong beach’, but if you’re a solo female traveller or even a couple, a bike is needed as it’s not very well lit, but I think that’s to be expected if you want a peaceful little place, out of the way from all the touristy places. We rented a bike for a super reasonable price off the owner though and felt super safe, the locals waving at us every time we drove past just making our experience perfect. I could not recommend this place more, if you’re in Koh Lanta then you need to stay here!

Ireland- Minor: lights in courtyard are quite bright and on all night with thin curtains so it could be quite bright in the room during the night
- room is very spacious as is bathroom - toilet and shower are separate so the place stays dry - only 5 rooms so it's quiet - the owner, Nen is such a lovely, genuine and helpful guy - having a hammock and private sitting area is nice - nice restaurants and shops are close about 10-15 minutes walk. As with most of Lanta you will want a scooter to get almost anywhere - what you get for the price is incredible, the facilities are very good - having a fridge is great - free filtered water

BelgiumEverything about the accommodation and the proprietor was just as we had read in the reviews. Nothing negative to say about Nen and his property - only positive things!
We very much enjoyed our stay at Lanta Happy House and wish to thank Nen, the proprietor, and his family for the warm welcome. Nen was always available to provide advice, rent us a scooter, drive us in his 3-wheel Tuk-tuk, organize a fishing excursion, a 4-island group excursion and the speedboat journey from Koh Lanta to Koh Lipe and so much more. The room was large and very clean and comfortable. The property has only 3 contiguous rooms on one side and two bungalows on the other side. There are two nice sheltered sitting areas. A great restaurant (Ann's Easy Food) at the bottom of the street (a must for travelers - the food is very good). Nen did everything he could to make our stay comfortable and enjoyable. The location is an 8-minute walk to the main road and 12 minutes to Khlong Kong beach. No problem at all for anyone who enjoys walking. Many restaurants and shops on the Main Street and on the beach. After 2 days of our 7-day stay, we rented a scooter from Nen and drove all over the west side of the island. We highly recommend Lanta Happy House to travelers visiting Koh Lanta.

It’s a family owned/ran small resort of 5 bungalows. We stayed for 4 nights in December. Family of 5 so we rented 3 bungalows. The location is lovely, set back from the beach and restaurants but only a couple of minutes away on the scooters. The bungalows are basic but clean, have large comfortable double beds, decent air con, good sized fridge to stock up beers to enjoy on an evening sitting out on the wooden veranda out in nature. Nen the owner/host was so helpful and friendly, he arranged our transfer and ferry, arranged laundry, hired us scooters, recommended restaurants, beaches to visit.

Czech RepublicI had an amazing time staying in Lanta Happy house. The location is so quiet and peaceful, better to have a bike to reach it but the owner also rents them. Rooms are perfectly clean, cozy, great bed, A/C, warm shower, fridge….everything you need for a comfortable stay. Your own patio with a hammock and seating area is the best 😍 The owner is super friendly, always available to anything you need. Absolutely would stay there next time when I’m in Koh Lanta!

The location is good, 10 min from the main road by feet or 2 by scooter, also from a 7/11 and really nice restaurant. The place is in the center of the island so you can visit everything easily. The hoste is really nice and happy to help everytime he can ! I definitly recommend this place

United StatesThe only thing was our water would sometimes run a little brown and our sink didn’t drain properly
I loved that it was located in the middle of the island, made everything so much easier to get to on a scooter. The beach was walking distance away and the rooms were in a quiet area with peaceful surroundings.
