Everything. From the amazing private pool to the location and the kindness of the staff. Everyone was extremely friendly and helped us with everything we needed. The food was delicious and the cocktails were great and they also had room service which was very nice. It was the cleanest accommodation we stayed in Thailand and the room was extremely spacious, very nicely decorated and had everything you might need. They also have laundry service and you can rent a scooter from them. The position on the island is very good, you can see the sunrise right from your room. My favourite place in Thailand and I would come back there every time.

The room was beautiful with a spectacular view and a private swimming pool. Staff is very friendly and helpful. You can rent a scooter for 300 baht/day. Good choice of breakfasts. I would recommend getting a room with a private swimming pool as the view is just amazing.

Beautiful villa with private pool (a must!). Incredible service, wonderful helpful workers. Loved renting the scooters for the day. So peaceful and grounding. Our favorite place in Asia!

Upon checking in, they suggested us to upgrade to the room with a pool, and we took it - best decision ever. It was amazing to swim in the private pool with views of the sea. The staff is very polite and helpful, you can count with their support for any inquiry/service, including motorbike rental. Great selection for breakfast, I liked their chicken rice soup. Room is clean and cozy. Includes bath robes. There's an amazing restaurant on the other side of the road, Seaside, a must go. We went there 3 times during our 2 night stay. The restaurant at the Hilltop is also good. If we're ever back to Koh Yao Yai, we'll definitely consider staying here again.

No issues really! There were references in the info booklet in the room to dialing 0 etc to get Reception, yet there was no phone in the room. That was a bit weird. That's the only negative I can think of!! The island might be a bit quiet for some and not having our own transport we wouldn't really have wanted to stay more than the three nights we did, but we felt so lucky to have experienced the tranquillity of this place. And if you hire a scooter I'm sure you could stay longer and be very happy.

Our room was lovely and large. The bathroom was exceptional. It was huge, in fact it had its own rooms! There was a toilet cubicle, a large shower cubicle, a cubby with a spa bath, and a general relaxing area with basin. I just felt so incredibly spoilt. The best feature though was the private pool. I've never had a private pool before and I felt like I'd really arrived in the world. It was amazing. My daughter and I particularly enjoyed our after dark swims before bed. It was so serene, so incredibly quiet, and so beautiful. And the views!!! It was a very quiet and small resort yet the food in the restaurant when we ate there for lunch was surprisingly excellent, and very reasonably priced. Also, there's a lovely beach restaurant across the road and down the footpath to the beach.

We had Room 501 which was 2 interconnecting villas with a huge pool. Room was large as was bathroom. Facilities were good.

It's a two-person room, yet our neighbors invited guests till late and sat chatting out all night, which kind of ruined the private vibe of the pool and the relaxed atmosphere. There was a whole family on the other side, with very quiet kids, so no issue there. But the staff should prevent people from inviting guests over because it is disturbing to the others.

Had a horrendous experience in the near by bar down by the beach (forgot its name) on New Years Eve due to fireworks exploding. Myself and my daughter are stilltraumatised from it. NOTHING to do with Hillside accomadation & sorry we didnt stay in the Hillside hotel for New Year Eve instead of paying for an over priced event that was ruined by bad weather (unavoidable, I know) & exploding fireworks that we were extrememly lucky to escape uninjured.

Had an amazing time. Location was fab, nice and quiet. Very comfortable room, spotlessly clean. Pool was a great choice. Staff are very accommodating & food in restaurant was delicious. We'll definately be back.

We had an emergency, one of our friends had a food poisining and the stuff was extremly helpful, first they organised medicine and when the situation got wore they brought a doctor.

As others have said, the outside of the villas could be updated somewhat. No real issue with it though.

I spent six really relaxing days at Hillside Resort. Staff are excellent - very friendly and helpful with everything. Easy scooter rental and transfer back to Phuket airport was easily arranged. The villa was very clean and comfortable with daily turn down service. Bed was comfortable and showers good. The plunge pool was essential for me. Breakfast was good. The on site restaurant is also a decent option for lunch and dinner if you want to stay on site.
