Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta, Iceland, Australia, Greece, Brazil and North Carolina. For properties in these regions, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomOur second time staying at Kalima. Upon booking we requested a room over looking the mangroves as we stayed there last time and it was lovely and quiet. However upon checking in we were given a room over looking the kids pool, the staff couldn't have been move helpful and placed us in the room we wanted the following day. We stayed in a room with a private pool and found it to be very good value for money. The breakfast is excellent and varied. The only thing that needs improving is the pontoon to the private beach which is still as sketchy as before and not suitable for people with mobility issues.

Thailandthe TV is an outdated version and not a smart TV, which means you can't stream content from your devices.
Just spent a couple of days at Kalima Khaolak, and I’ve got to say, it’s pretty amazing. The place is huge, beautiful, and super chill—perfect for a quick 2-day escape where you don’t need to leave the resort. The pools here are awesome, with so many options to choose from. Whether you want to relax or dive into some fun, there’s a pool for that. Plus, they’ve got tons of activities in the center—think volleyball, kayaking, or even paddleboarding (SUP). You definitely won’t get bored. If you’re lucky enough to snag a room with a private pool, you’re in for a treat. The rooms are massive, with everything you need and more—big comfy beds, a nice bathtub, and a spacious shower. The private pool is the perfect spot to chill out and relax. Breakfast is really solid, with a good variety of healthy options. The gym is also on point, with all the equipment you need for a decent workout. And if you’re into sports, they’ve got volleyball, football, and more. The staff are super friendly and welcoming. They really go out of their way to make sure you have a great time, which makes the stay even better.

GermanyWe went during off season and less personnel was felt, I.e beach bar was closed and it’s a long walk to get to the next food/beverage place. When it was clouded the pool was cold which made especially the private pool mostly unusable. There was no lifeguard in the kids pool area watching the slides, which was for us a safety concern.
Beautiful resort with great landscaping and beach as well as lots of family fun activities. Staff is helpful and friendly, breakfast is outstanding. Rooms are super nice and cozy. Kids club staff is exceptional - though small they really engage the kids and create a calm and joyful environment.

United KingdomOriginally we were bed & breakfast, but on our second day we upgraded to all inclusive. Having had an a la carte meal on the first night (which we paid for), we could tell there was a very clear difference between the level of service you received between paying for the a la carte food & drink, and it being included in the all inclusive. Plates were not cleared between each meal course, with the food taking over an hour at times. We also ordered drinks and never received them. After complaining, we did notice an improvement, however the level of service you receive should not differ based on your board.
The children's pool was great for our 2 year old, as well as the main pool which we enjoyed with the swim up pool bar. The layout of the resort was great and we liked the walkway across the river which took you to the beach.

ThailandThis is by no means the hotel's fault per-se (and good for them), but it was the busiest resort we've ever stayed at, even in 'low season' (we stayed mid-July, the rainy season, and yes, it did rain some). Getting a table at breakfast was tricky it was so crowded, and some staff I talked to said they had about 950 guests at 80% occupancy, so... it's busy. For most families/whatnot, this probably isn't an issue, but just isn't our style -- and I would suggest any non-family couples coming opt for more privacy with a private villa. Also, while the villa we got with private pool was certainly nice, the resort offers little privacy between villas -- you can see and be seen by several other villas around you at all times, compared to other similar resorts we've stayed in the area, so just be aware of that. The 'mainstream' rooms in the rest of the resort are also quite crowded. Again, not the hotel's fault, just not our style. Finally, the hotel's main entrance and check-in/out experience is probably its weakest point when compared to the awe-inspiring main entrances at 5-stars elsewhere (e.g. Saii, Outrigger, Banyan Tree in Phuket for similar prices). The main entrance gives off very 4-star vibes, but once inside, your opinion will change. The check-in/out experience is likewise; most comparable 5-star hotels have staff escort you to a seat/waiting area to deliver your welcome drink (here, a nice coconut/butterfly pea concoction), but here we had to stand at the main counter for quite some time with several other waiting guests -- but the staff were lovely. Just things to be aware of for the price and not reasons to go elsewhere for sure. In all, for the price and experience, I'd give the hotel a strong 9.5/10, but don't think it fair to deduct on Booking's system for any of the categories they list.
This is an impressive resort -- one of the few 5-star hotels that actually lives up to its name, particularly in a Southeast Asian context. For context, we live in Phuket and have gone to many 4 and 5-star hotels around southern Thailand. We opted for a private pool villa, and I can confidently say it was the largest villa I've ever stayed in Southeast Asia. If anything, it was too much for two people and a baby! The staff were lovely, facilities expansive and impressive (including a full-on children's play room and pool area), and the beach not too far away, across the lagoon was clean and nice (albeit not Phuket nice). I particularly enjoyed the on-site Teppanyaki restaurant and gin bar, and they even had live music at the weekend with a fun couple playing classics. The food/beverage options were great and varied across the hotel's 3 restaurants, and while not cheap, for a 5-star hotel I thought they were quite reasonable. In all, especially for families flying-in for a lovely holiday wanting an all-in resort that you don't have to leave and have the kids entertained, it's hard to beat.
