Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta, Iceland, Australia, Greece, Brazil and North Carolina. For properties in these regions, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.

By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

France10/15 minutes ( on foot) from first shops and restaurants but on a dark road at night . Restaurant is more expensive than in other part of the island and just eatable
Beside HaadTien had completely privatized SharkBay, I like the the area because it’s still quiet and relaxing , no big noisy boats , view on the beach , the area is not crowded -and you can snorkel from the beach - paddle and kayak available. comfortable and clean , well decorated rooms, balcony , swimming pool , Appreciate the spa with happy hour from 10 to 14 . Perfect on rainy days . breakfast is a must

South AfricaYou will climb a lot of stairs constantly unless you stay in a beach villa. The rooms also have interleading doors which is not great if you have noisy neighbors.
Amazing location at Shark Bay, offers the best snorkling on the island right on your doorstep. Be sure to book a motorcycle as you are a bit secluded from the rest of the island. Not walking distance.

IrelandWhile the location of the hotel is beautiful, it's clear that they take advantage of their isolation from nearby shops and restaurants by charging high prices for food and drinks. On top of that, there's a surprising 17% charge added to your bill, which was the highest service charge we’ve ever encountered. Thankfully, there’s a neighboring hotel restaurant offering food and drinks at half the price with no extra charges. We were also disappointed by the lack of clarity regarding certain services. Upon arrival, we were informed that the snorkel set was free to use, but later told it would cost 200 baht to rent per set, which left us confused.Their "two-restaurant" setup was equally baffling. During Happy Hour, we tried to buy a drink but were charged full price. When we refused to pay, we were directed to the other "restaurant," which turned out to be just an empty unkept pool bar. After waiting, we were finally served by the same staff member who had sent us to the pool bar. Ironically, they didn’t have the drink we wanted, and the staff had to return to the original restaurant to get it for us. The whole situation was unnecessarily complicated and frustrating.
The highlight of our stay was definitely the private beach and snorkeling. It was truly unforgettable to see so much marine life right in front of us—turtles on the right, baby sharks on the left! Our room was spacious and had everything we needed for a comfortable and relaxing stay. We especially loved the balcony view and the warm shower. The large basin sink was also a handy feature for washing clothes. We enjoyed alternating between beach time and relaxing in the sky pool, making the most of the serene surroundings. The breakfast spread was fantastic, offering everything from fresh dragon fruit to custom-made omelettes. One important thing to note: while the hotel offers transfers to the pier, they only run at specific times, and you need to book them at least a day in advance. Otherwise, you’ll likely end up dealing with the local taxis, which can be a hassle. There is a fixed fare to Shark Bay, but taxis will often charge more and give absurd excuses. When I pointed this out, we were met with hostility and even cursed at—but unfortunately, that's just how certain taxis operate in the area.

New ZealandThe rooms were not as clean as we would have liked and we had to ask for the room to be serviced during our stay. The outdoor lounging couch was stained and we had to cover with a towel. No area in the bathroom to hang your towels. The rooms and property felt it needed maintenance, including the swimming pools. We also did not appreciate that smoking was allowed during the breakfast area and also on the balcony which we had to smell when we sat outside.
The location on the beach is great, we enjoyed the snorkelling and exploring the nearby beaches by scooter to snorkel would be highly recommended and also the local Thai restaurants. The view from the terrace in the room beautiful each day. The breakfast in the morning was perfect and the friendly chef cooking our eggs each morning bought a smile to us. We also appreciated the shuttle transfer to and from the ferry and the hotel sweeping/cleaning the beach each day.

France10 mn on foot from the first « village » on a steep road with no lights at night but that’s also why the location is quiet I tried the restaurant 3 times, which is more expensive than in town and it was just average food . Nothing to do with HaadTien but some tourists don’t even bother to answer when you say hello, and should be nicer with the staff of the hotel
Nice rooms , cosy and clean, nice view, 3 swimming pools , the beach is almost a private property , and it is a stunning location even for snorkeling. Perfect breakfast in the morning . The place is quiet and relaxing . Every services is more expensive than in town but the Spa is really a must Free shuttle more than 3 times a day to the main pier . Really helpful and nice staff I stayed longer than I was supposed to , and it was my second stay in this hotel . I love it

United KingdomHotel is a bit grotty - needs renovation - and the staff are less attentive and obliging than at all the other Thai hotels we visited.
Beautiful location, Loved snorkelling in the hotel's bay, with 3 huge green turtles, a black tip reef shark and lots of tropical fish. Also had a couple of wonderful snorkeling trips along this side of Koh Tao.which I'd highly recommend. Go down to the beach and hire a long-tailed boat - we were charged 3,000 Baht for a day's private snorkeling trip for the 3 of us (1 adult, 2 children) and Will on the Red Turtle long-tailed boat took us to 4 lovely snorkeling locations with wonderful coral, fish and baby sharks. See my photos for a copy of Will's board with phone number etc. Hotel food and drink was pretty good.

United KingdomThe pool area wasn't kept clean. Plates glasses weren't cleared away. No staff ever came by to take drinks orders, you would need to go to the restaurant and ask.
Room was really bright, and an incredible view over the bay. The hotel shares reception / restaurant with the Beach Resort. Although breakfast is good, restaurant can feel very busy if you pick the wrong time. The Reef Dive centre based here was great. Booked an EXCELLENT private snorkeling trip.

ThailandStairs to …. Sweaty/sticky body before bedtime!! We were unfortunate to be handed keys to 2 rooms .. located rather high up on the hill. I personally counted 90 steps before we reached our floor. Holy moly!! The climb was tough and not recommended for anyone with bad heart or knees or elderly. Rooms were somewhat tired looking and air con took a while to cool everything down. Our electric kettle was broken (though they gave us a usable one immediately) Air con remote was also broken (again immediately replaced) Useless hairdryer, they might as well skipped this puny hairdryer altogether cos it was absurdly powerless!! Just so so small. A solo coffee machine for breakfast was super slow and simply inadequate for the amount of guests they were accommodating. แต่พนักงานร้านอาหารไม่ควรพูด จ๊ะ กับลูกค้านะครับ พูดกันอยู่2-3คนเลย รวมถึงผู้จัดการด้วย
Haadtien had a fairly exclusive feel to it. Beachfront to Shark Bay was terrific. The private beach had some lovely trees and accessibility was so good. The hotel had numerous pools. We got to use the one up by the hill which was really convenient and private. Its main restaurant was decent, sufficient menu for both lunch and dinner. Breakfast was decent with a very efficient egg/omelette chef! Staff were on the whole very pleasant. Eager to help and friendly. Great pick up service from the island pier.

SwitzerlandOur room needs some renovations. The water tap was literally wrapped with a plastic bag and was not holding. The shower drain had a terrible eggy smell. Behind the building, there was a lot of garbage. The shuttle bus is available only 3 times a day at a specific time and to use it, you need to book it one day in advance!
The location is really good, you have some calm and you can easily go to the city by the moto of the shuttle bus. It was quite nice that the hotel organised free transportation from the port. We had a room with a view of the sea and a bay, on the third floor of the topest building. That was quite a workout to go up at least 8 staircases, but the view was worth it. Breakfast was quite good too, in a beautiful place. The hotel provided some flower decorations for our special occasion.

United KingdomBecause it’s so big, you don’t get the same attention or care as a smaller place or a hotel starting out. So some things aren’t the best like, you need to book the spa far in advance, breakfast was insanely busy- I couldn’t fight my way to the coffee machine and it’s cleaning was mediocre.
The view is incredible!! Genuinely so stunning and the room felt properly private.

United KingdomNobody tells you how many steps there are. We were in 714. The amount of steps to get up to the room are a joke, we actually counted and it was 90 steps. We only counted because we couldn’t believe how many steps there were. We were not warned about this. We asked if we could change rooms to be closer as I have a disability which makes it difficult for me to walk especially in the heat but we were told there were no rooms. Some mornings we wouldn’t go down for breakfast because the thought of having to walk back up in the heat would not be good for me. We booked a sea view room, we couldn’t see the sea, it was blocked by trees and the other buildings in front of our room.
The hotel ground are gorgeous and the bay is private so it’s always very quiet and chilled. The staff are super friendly and the pools are all great!
