Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Location was super convenient - literally steps from the bus station and the night Bazaar. The owner was also super friendly and helpful and really made me feel right at home. Facilities were great - comfiest hostel bed in Thailand I've had so far, spacious lockers. Really enjoyed my stay and won't hesitate to book again next time I'm in Chiang Rai.

FranceWater pressure in the showers is very weak, not ideal to wash long hair. Reception is only open until 5 or 6pm, so if you want to come late without any booking, you can't. It's a bit dark in the bathroom, more light would be appreciated:)
It was very quiet, and I was alone in the female dorm for 2 nights! Lockers are provided (you need to bring your own padlock) and big enough for a big backpack. The bed was comfortable and the room very bright with natural light. You get a towel as well. The reception was veeery kind. It's a one minute walk from the bus terminal and the night market. Snacks, a water filling station, tea and coffee are provided.

I love how clean and light it was, and how close to bus stop, the WiFi worked well and I had the room to myself for super cheap… air con was amazing! Felt secure and safe - close to night market also. Don’t normally venture out at night when solo travelling but everything was so close in terms of shops and market

SingaporeNot the most social place. One lady wanted to sleep in 30-35c heat in the room and wasn't too nice about it when I said to move it down to something reasonably cool as it is very hot inside the room
Everything! The hostel is so neat and tidy and has a really nice rooftop where you can hang your clothes from washing at the machine which you just pay 20 baht plus 10 baht for soap powder. The smoking corner is on the rooftop. Beats anywhere else! They have a first aid kit stocked with bandages, gauze and antiseptic wash and ibruprofen, charcoal tablets etc. There are multiple areas for lounging and it is very comfortable and cozy. Location is excellent. 100 meters from the bus station and daily night market and 7-11 is directly opposite the bus station about a 3 minute walk. Plenty of food options, watsons and boots pharmacy and massage places for 200/250 baht an hour. There are pubs and cafes at affordable prices too. Privacy curtains for the bunk beds and a huge storage locker which you need to have your own lock. The staff took out my washed laundry when I did it at 2:30am and hung it out to dry first thing in the morning when I woke up at 8:45am to take it myself.

AustraliaI can not fault this place had a great time.
The room was large and comfortable, you feel safe and rested from the busy outside world. The layout also had many places to sit and relax outside of your room so you get to meet some new people. The location was amazing right next to the night markets. They also had a washing machine and lines to hang out wet washing which was so convenient.

Canadanothing. It was perfect for my needs.
Great value for the money. My room was clean and the bed was comfortable. It is a 2 min walk from the bus station and a 2 min walk to the lively night market (I could literally see if from my window). It is still quiet even though it's right near the market and station. The common areas and bathrooms were also clean. There was a full size fridge in the kitchenette area with a microwave and the hostel provided hot and cold water for coffee or to refill your water bottle. It also had a washing machine to clean your clothes; you can then hang them to dry on a line on their rooftop area. The woman who works there was so helpful and was probably the kindest, sweetest person I've met in all of my travels throughout Thailand. I definitely recommend this place.

RussiaThe hostel itself is magnificent. The staff is wonderful. But the hosts did not set particularly hospitable rules. Usually, if your flight is late in the evening, the hostel comes to meet you and allows you to stay in the common area after your check-out and wait for the evening. I was literally asked to go out with my things. I had to go to the airport 3 hours earlier than I was supposed to and sit there. I still don't understand why.
Great location, very cozy and clean. Good cost.

AustraliaThe mattress was very hard but we like firm beds so it wasn't too bad. If you like soft beds, you might struggle! We stayed in a private room, so I'm not sure if it'd be the same for dorm beds. The common rooms of the hostel got very hot which was a shame because we didn't really get a chance to enjoy the cute spaces - but its a heat wave at 42 degrees so I don't think that could've been avoided.
Fon from the front desk was so attentive! Very clean hostel, and we loved the free snacks. We loved the location - right near the bus stop and the Chang Rai Night Bazaar - but we didn't hear any noise!
