Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomThere’s nothing we didn’t like about our stay. I’d recommend however lathering on some mosquito spray we noticed a fair few here but didn’t cause us any bother. If you’re wanting to get about the island I’d definitely hire a scooter, the host helped us do this at a very reasonable price, we were able to get to the other side of the island and the main Koh Samui spot in around 30 minutes. So many places to see and do around!!
Our stay was great! It’s very zen, relaxing and out of the way of any noise other than wildlife, it feels as though you’re staying in the jungle. There’s many kitchen utensils including a cold water refill machine (super handy in the heat) The host is super attentive and friendly, he was very easy to get in touch with and helped us with any queries we had. There was also a power cut due to bamboo falling on the wires and we messaged to let him know, not knowing what was the cause and he was at the property within 15mins and explained what happened! There was people outside fixing it before he arrived and everything was back up and running within 30 mins. We would definitely stay here again.

GermanyIf you are sensitive to heat, you might want a place with AC. But I slept like a baby, as the fan in the room was very powerful and it cools down at night anyway...
Anjar, the host, is really nice, friendly and respectful. He even brought me mini mangos from his garden one day as we were talking about the plants he was having in the hostel garden the day before. Delicious! I really enjoyed my stay there! One of the best things are the free bikes - you can explore much of the island that way if you don't have a scooter. They are old bikes, but do their job perfectly. Brakes working! I was also surprised, that you get a whole room to yourself if you book for just one person. I was expecting to have to share the room with someone else at that price. So it's really affordable. A beautiful waterfall is just a hop away, but you may be tempted to just stay on the property, as the garden is beautiful. Really nice atmosphere there.

FranceAdd a fridge in the common area would be a good thing imo.
Beautiful and peaceful place, far enough from the crowds but not so far from the beach by motorbike. You can rent a motorbike directly at your accommodation, ask in Anjar. Anjar, the owner, is the kind of person you are really happy to meet on your trip. Perfect from the start to the end of your stay. He comes directly to the pier and takes you through your accommodation and does the same when you leave, free of charge. He is always available to give you advice and help, always smiling. This guy is a legend! I wish you the best for the future, thank you again my friend!

He gave us a free lift to the pier and recommended a good cafe to eat, and also places to visit in Indonesia (he is Indonesian) :) Hidden gem that looks out onto jungle. Free water fill up station. Free coffee. Microwave. Cutlery. Shared bathroom which was very clean. So peaceful. Comfortable pillows and I slept so well! Rooms are really cool with only a fan. IrelandThe bugs. Dear Jesus a Moth flew in at one point and it was only short of carrying suitcases, it was that big. But that’s not a reflection on the hostel, the hostel was clean - but due to its location there are a lot more creepy crawlys than other areas.
Anjar is fantastic he was very helpful arranging taxi to airport and things to do. The communal area is lovely - tea, coffee, games and books. It’s far enough out from the town but it is near a water fall which is a bit of a trek but it’s cool. Stunningly quiet you can fall asleep to the sound of the forest/jungle.

NetherlandsIndividual bedroom for great price. Facilities such as balcony, yoga mat, separate toilets and shower. Common area cleaned daily. Free coffee, tea, cold water, microwave, kitchen utensils, shampoo, body wash. Great Wi-Fi. I’ve stayed 34 days working. I opened the bedroom door every morning surrounded by lush nature, a waterfall and a beautiful garden, starting my days with yoga. Quiet place, peaceful, many birds, squirrels and butterflies. The owner goes extra mile, bringing papaya, coconut, bananas, from the trees. Place provides free bicycle and motorcycle rental, If you want explore is recommended. There’s a restaurant besides - at the waterfall entrance, and a café. The owner speaks English, Spanish, Thai, Indonesian, German. Is one of the humble business people rare to find.

The owner are very nice, Oah and Aunja (not sure if it's correct spelling). They have been so nice and kind. They have bicycle to borrow. I was having a hard time with unexpected visitor which was the gecko because the place is in the nature but they were being helpful. BrazilAjarn, the owner of the property, is an amazing person. He picked me up at Nathon Pier and right away we started chatting and I felt welcomed. The stay was great because, as an online teacher, I always need solid internet connection and I had it! Also, the facility is very clean, organized and Ajarn was always available to help, give recommendations and chat. I stayed there twice and I will definitely stay there again once I return to Koh Samui.

United KingdomIt’s a fan room so can be quite hot overnight but that is listed and the location is far from the main part of the island so definitely rent a moped, other than that we had nothing we didn’t like! ((Although, I don’t recommend booking with the company they use for a moped as they were late dropping off and picking up the bike, we had to chase them up both times. They also tried to scam us by bringing a more expensive bike as the other one “wasn’t available” but then brought it to us an hour after as we weren’t paying for the more expensive one))
It’s exactly as described. It’s worth the money. The staff was really friendly and picked us up and dropped us off to the pier for free.
