Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta, Iceland, Australia, Greece, Brazil and North Carolina. For properties in these regions, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.

By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomThere was nothing that we didn’t like
This is by far the best hotel we have stayed in since arriving in Thailand. We had a room with pool access and it was really nice to have that so we could relax right by the room. On arrival we were given a welcome drink and it was delicious, the breakfast had plenty of choice and they also had a good selection of cocktails which we enjoyed at night. We were warned of monkeys and we did see them, which was nice to see them in the wild and they did not bother us. Would definitely recommend this hotel.

United KingdomPool didn’t officially open until 10am, which is quite late.
The hotel is in a great location, just 5 minutes walk from the main street of shops/restaurants and the main beach, but equally good distance to the other beach/walk. The hotel room was spacious, well equipped and we loved our little balcony. The pool area was clean, and the breakfast was pretty good (included baked beans and peanut butter which we haven’t seen elsewhere!), although could have done with more varied fresh fruit. We really liked the Monday movie night and there was live music on the other evenings. You have to get used to the monkeys being around but really it is quite a special experience! The staff were friendly and helpful.

MalaysiaInattentive staff. No one helped with luggage, no friendly introduction, no one spoke to us. Breakfast was very mediocre. No one to help bags from pier to hotel which can be difficult with heavy luggage.
Property could use some work, the room could be much brighter, but spacious and clean

ThailandWe have stayed at Avatar a few times and this was the best stay so far. While some guests might find the rooms a bit dark they stay nice and cool with the extreme heat outside. The aircon worked well, great water pressure in the shower, excellent wifi and very friendly, attentive staff. Of course there is a very nice cool pool to relax in. The breakfast was great with a nice variety of food to please everyone. The fantastic coffee/hot chocolate machine is a huge plus. Another nice touch is the cold and hot water machines which are located close to each room. We stayed for 9 nights and loved every moment of it and will definitely go back.

United KingdomNothing everything was great
The staff were so lovely and couldn’t do enough for you. The lady (believe she was the manager) who helped us move due to leaking air con was amazing, she upgraded us due to this! She was so welcoming and really made our stay! The hotel is clean and has a lovely restaurant, the monkeys are entertaining to watch

GermanyThe beach in front of the hotel was not too nice but we knew that beforehand - quite dirty and lots of jellyfish and trash. Prices in the hotel were also way above what you paid in some restaurants nearby. There was nothing we didn't like - the hotel was okay for the price, nothing luxurious, however.
Overall, the place is good value for the money. The room and pool were nice - the pool wasn't very deep and the outdoor area of the rooms on the ground floor could have used some cleaning, but it wasn't too bad. Breakfast was good and the hotel was conveniently located. Cute monkeys around (that steal stuff - but we were warned beforehand)!

CanadaThe monkeys were a minor nuisance, but the staff had warned us and do their best to keep them away from guests. We were mindful of the need to close and lock our doors and didn't leave things lying around. However, it was off-putting to see a monkey sitting IN the water dispenser provided for guests use. While it seemed like a great idea to provide water to guests in this way (through centrally located dispensers), we didn't want to use the machines the monkeys seemed to be using too!
We enjoyed our stay here very much - the rooms were comfortable, clean and the hotel itself is very well located. An easy walk to beaches, pier, and shops. The staff were friendly and attentive, storing luggage for us and offering the use of the air conditioned "relaxing room" poolside while we were waiting to check in. The breakfast buffet was good and the outdoor dining area very pleasant, overlooking the water. Entertainment was also provided nightly in this same outdoor area; when we were there, we enjoyed the excellent cover tunes of a Filippino duo (singer and keyboard). A great way to unwind after a day of touring around. The pool was great and we appreciated that it was quiet (no loud music).

United KingdomThe pool could have been cleaned better as it was sometimes quite dirty.
Location very near to pier and restuarants, bars and cafes in centre of Railay. Railay west beach only 5 minutes walk away. The rooms were big and clean with a great balcony that overlooked the pool. Air on was good. Breakfast has lots of options and was open until 10:30. Evening had a singer each night and you could have your room cleaned every day if wanted. Also provided beach towels and beach bag.

United Arab EmiratesSome help with baggage. It was very hard to bring our bags from the boat Railay West beach. I wish the hotel provided some trolley service to help with our bags. This would be hard to stay at if only my wife was visiting.
Great facilities and the breakfast was excellent. The location is great and the hotel is very close to both beaches on the island. We got a free room upgrade, which was really kind.

DenmarkWe had a few electricity issues in our room. When using the facilities like the jacuzzi and tv at the same time, an alarm went on and we had to turn the power off for 10-15 minutes for it to stop. Nespresso machine didn't work, and it's not allowed to bring mugs to the room from the restaurant.
The private pool in room 216 was bigger than expected, and really worth the extra spending! Bed was big and not rock hard as others in Thailand tend to be. Extremely comfortable! The hotel itself is quite small with beautiful common areas. There is a small grocery shop on the corner, aswell as a few shops and bars within a 100 metres, and Walking Street is a 2-3 minutes' walk away. Railay West beach for amazing sunsets 6-7 minutes walk and Phra Nang beach 10-12.

AustraliaThe breakfast staff was a bit blunt, lacking in attentiveness and personality. They didn't do anything bad but were not matching the vibe of the rest of the team. Breakfast is a bit average, nothing amazing but sufficient and ok for just a couple of days. The swimming pool and the floating lounge chairs need a better cleaning.
We had a great stay at Avatar! The hotel is actually better than what looks like in pictures. The lobby staff was great, attentive, polite, friendly, and helpful. The cleaning staff is extremely gentle too. Due to an overbooking, we got a free upgrade to the Villa which was simply amazing! The room was super spacious, clean, with all comforts. The bed was super comfy! It was amusing having the monkeys visiting twice a day 😄
