Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

CanadaIf hanging out in the beach is your thing, this might not be the hotel for you. While there is pretty nice beach about a 20 mini walk, it isn’t your typical “tourist” beach. There is one cool little beach bar, but it’s not the “sitting on a lounger drinking cocktails “ kind of beach. We had just spent 4 nights at a beach front property, so for us, it was fine.
Arthaya Villas is an amazing little hotel. The grounds are beautifully landscaped; an oasis right on a busy street. The pool is beautiful, though it gets full sun all day, so the temp isn’t exactly refreshing. The Villas are spacious and the bed was super comfortable. There’s a small kitchenette, but beyond reheating or doing something like pasta, I couldn’t really see cooking there. But there’s no need to cook anyway! If you don’t have a car or motorbike, or don’t enjoy walking, you may feel a little limited in your nearby dining options. But I highly recommend that you try Yang Garden Cafe. It’s only a few minutes away, walking, is beautiful, and was one of the best meals we’ve had in Thailand. Cosi restaurant is a little further north, and also excellent. Breakfast wasn’t included for us, but the on-site cafe has excellent food and we ate breakfast there every day. We rented motorbikes on-site for part of our stay, which I highly recommend so that you can explore the island. If you don’t, and this is your only stay on Koh Lanta, you’ll miss out on fully experiencing the island. Ya helped us with our transportation going from Lanta to our next stop, which saved us time and money. Probably the thing that we appreciated most about Arthaya Villas is their dedication to being environmentally responsible. In a country where there is so much single-use plastic (creating litter everywhere) and a general disregard for recycling, conserving, etc., this hotel gets gold stars. Ya, the owner, provides recycling facilities, uses refillable glass water bottles (rather that all-too-common plastic that the majority of hotels use), and the fact they capture solar power to provide almost all of the power to the hotel is beyond impressive. Other hotels have a lot to learn from Ya and her team. Thanks for everything, Ya! You have an amazing place!

We had a two bedroom villa for our family of 2 parents and 2 young-adult children. The villa is laid out well: there is a set of table and chairs outside, where me and my husband conducted ZOOM meetings. Upon entry, there is a kitchen with a full size fridge, some dishes and cutlery, a frying pan and stove, a microwave oven. The adjacent living room has a nice TV, coffee table and desk. There are 2 bedrooms with comfortable beds, and one bathroom. The water pressure in the bathroom shower is good. We all loved the pool. It's not huge, but it's a good size and it's set within beautiful surroundings. In fact, the entire place is beautifully landscaped with colorful flowers and tropical plants. In terms of eating, we walked to nearby restaurants - there are many to choose from. We also had breakfast in the Arthaya cafe one morning, and quite enjoyed it. My daughters fell in love with the resident cat, who is timid at first, but then warms up to pats. The owner?/manager is great to deal with. She's good at understanding what patrons need/are asking for. I told her about our less-than-perfect transfer from Aonang to Ko Lanta, and she made sure that we had a proper hotel to hotel transfer back to Krabi. We had a great time at Arthaya and would not hesitate to return.

MalaysiaWe wish that the villa have 2 bathrooms, due to our morning rush hour to catch the boat for scuba diving, but it is not a biggie coz the villa have toilets available at the reception area.
The 2 bedroom family villa was perfect for us with 2 teenagers. The villa was facing the pond and pool and yet the privacy was amazing. It comes with pantry and outdoor terrace dining corner, perfect for nice family snack time. Landscape of the overall villa is beautiful, the curated sanctuary private landscape is a harmonious blend of nature's wonders and human ingenuity, perfect for retreat and unwind after we came back from scuba diving. You can also rent a bike from the villa and the beach is just across the street. We had a great time and will definitely recommend and repeat these accommodations.

This hotel was in 1 word: fantastic! It's a beautiful place, with a lot of green. The rooms are spacious and clean, even equiped with a full kitchen. The woman from the hotel helped us book excellent tours, provided us with a scooter and arranged our airport transport. She helps you with everything you need and does it always with a smile! Every morning you get a delicious breakfast with plenty of fresh fruit. The staff is kind and treats you with so much respect. The location is perfect. Away from the busy area around the pier, but close to so many beautiful beaches. Also plenty of restaurants nearby, with Yawee as a real 'must go to'. The small price you only pay for a hotel like this, is a bonus! We would come back here without a doubt!

SwedenNothing. The only thing noteworthy is that Koh Lanta in general has few areas with sidewalks and poor lighting, so it’s not so walking friendly but we managed. We rented a scooter for a few days and this was a great idea, Arthaya is well located to be in a quiet area and explore on both directions with scooter. To the nearest beach is a short walk and there’s plenty restaurants as well.
Beautiful garden in a quiet part of town, you can see the love and care put into the property. The room was bright, and had a lovely terrace with view to the pool and the pond, but it was private at the same time due to the jungly garden the property has, which again is so beautiful. They had really good coffee and the fruit plate they have has their own papaya that they grow in the garden, delicious! Kha, the manager, was one of the best people I ever met, passionate about making your stay a lovely experience, we wanted Thai breakfast, and she made it happen for us, as an attention on her end. Never in the many hotels I stayed in the world, I had someone so attentive and caring. I recommend booking tours with her, she gets you the best deals. We did a snorkelling trip to Koh Rok and Koh Ha and everywhere the price was around 1500-1700 baht per person, she got it for us for 1100! The staff was also incredible friendly and caring, they make really good coffee and the western breakfast was one of the best I had in Thailand, the avocado toast a must try. Thank you Kha and team for a great stay!
