Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta, Iceland, Australia, Greece, Brazil and North Carolina. For properties in these regions, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.

I love this journey. Wonderful scenery, very good food in the Buffet and a lovely new ship since I last sailed on the route. The cabin was clean and comfortable and had everything we needed.

United StatesThe cabin cleaning staff entered my room while I was at breakfast and at least 30 minutes prior to the time required to vacate the cabin. The sheets were pulled out from under my open suitcase which was lying on the bed. If you don't want this to happen to you, travel via another option or keep your luggage closed and your travel documents secure in expectation of Viking Line staff violating your privacy.
Cabin was good. Restaurant food and service were excellent. Entertainment was simple but okay.

United KingdomWe were annoyed to not be allowed to take our food with us on to the boat. There is now a security check where any hot food that you may want to eat on the boat was confiscated. I subsequently complained to viking line about this and got a poor response. It is not publicised when you buy tickets, being buried in the terms and conditions, and seems to be entirely about trying to force people in to buying food on the boat. This is a cynical view of the customer which creates a cynical view of the business. It was just annoying in our case because we had gone to lots of trouble to sort out the food before boarding and getting our child to sleep early as in previous trips the queues in the 'market place' were long. No doubt I will use the service again but this was a negative experience, not helped by a security guard accusing us of lying.
The ferry is good.

United StatesThe cleaning staff actually opened our door twice in the morning, first at 6:30 am when I was still in the shower and my husband was in bed . They did it again at 7:00 am. I knew from talking to the information desk the night before that we didn’t need to be out of our cabin until 7:30 am. It was a violation of privacy and incredibly rude. The door was locked. I know they have very little time to clean the rooms, but that experience has soured me on all Viking cruises, and we cruise a lot.
This is a nice way to travel. The ship has lots of amenities, including a huge duty free shop and many restaurants.

CanadaThere were WAY too many bright lights everywhere - the scenery is a main focus of the trip but you can't see out with all the bright lights shining in your face. The food portions were TOO HUGE in the few restaurants that had actual menus. I would rather pay less for smaller portions. And the main bar I really want to visit was closed;
The onboard musicians (what little there were of them) were all wonderful, especially the jazz combo and the solo guitarist/troubadour.
