Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta, Iceland, Australia, Greece, Brazil and North Carolina. For properties in these regions, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

BelgiumBecause they are renovating, the spa was closed but the girl at the reception gave us free tickets to the open air swimming place nearby and they had a sauna. There was a lot of renovation works near our room but it didn't actually bother us. Just the fact that some things like the French restaurant and the spa were closed.
The hotel is old but it has a charm to it that I really liked. Our room was very big, with an apart section for our kid's bed so that was amazing and the sea view was incredible. It is ideal to relax because it is very quiet and far from the city. The restaurant Paviljon was also very good and has also amazing views. The staff was friendly, I didn't have any issues with them not talking in English to me.

SingaporeRight outside our room was being renovated including our room door. No mention of this was made to us at check in and we were handed the room cards and was greeted with construction workers right outside our door blocking the entrance to our room. I also felt the reception staff wasn’t welcoming and kept answering me in Swedish, despite knowing very well I don’t speak Swedish and being asked to speak to speak in English.
It’s an old and grand hotel with history. We loved that about the hotel. It’s a little run down which they are trying to fix with renovations. Breakfast was good, the ambience was great, rooms were spacious and the view from the room was pretty good.

United StatesOur room and the building was under construction, the window frames were unfinished so every time we opened windows, plaster chunks fell on the floor, the noise level made it difficult to relax and enjoy your peaceful surroundings. I felt they should have given a larger discount considering all of this.
The view was amazing with plenty of spots to rest and enjoy them. Breakfast was excellent in their magical grand dining room.

FinlandA family of four plus a dog, we were really pleased with our stay at Grand Hotel Saltsjöbaden. Being an old grand hotel, the ambience manages to be both chic and very laid back at the same time, and the location by the sea is superb. We had a quadruple room that was large enough to accommodate us, the beds were comfortable, the breakfast very good, and the staff super nice. Still, this doesn' t even begin to catch the atmosphere of this place, you have to visit to experience it for yourself.

SwedenIn the restaurant, during dinner, it did not look like all tables were reserved, however we had children and they suggested us to go to the bar area, which is kind of descrimination of children. Same in the spa zone, the staff was friendly and allowed to use spa after check out at same terms as hotel guests, but spa zone is not for children (only 9-11 and 12-14, breakfast and lunch time, during some weekends and school vacations). I think the hotel should be more oriented at families with children. Second thing that was not nice is the staff at reception, the man deliberately did not speak English and answered in Swedish, which was not friendly to foreigners. I think that Sweden overall is English speaking country with inclusive culture, but sometimes there are naughty people that spoil this atmosphere.
The room with a view to the water, the breakfast, the lobby with games, spa area, dinner in the bar area.

GreeceThe hotel was being renovated so there were workers and scaffolds but it didn't really disrupt our experience. The common areas and our room got a bit chilly in the evening and there was no way to turn up the heat :(
Majestic old hotel in a beautiful location. Delicious breakfast, sunny rooms with nice view and super cozy vibes. Some wear and tear in places but we think it added to the charm of that golden era aesthetic. We were there on a Sunday, the hotel was not at all crowded and felt like we had all the place to ourselves!

Sweden- We requested upfront that bed for baby awaits us in the room, however when we arrived in the room the bed was not there. I had to go to reception to remind them to bring the baby bed in the room. - We celebrated our anniversary there and noted that in the booking, however nobody did absolutely nothing to make us feel extra welcomed. This is the first hotel where we travelled to celebrate our anniversary that did absolutely nothing to acknowledge that, which is a pity. At least one message in the room would be nice. - Room was quite cold. - In the bathroom is missing a place to put your stuff, there is only a quite narrow sink. - We checked out at 11:50 (check out is till 11:00) and they wanted to charge us that 300 SEK for that. That sounded absurd and I asked if they can check this, so they ultimately charged us "only 100" SEK for that. We travelled a lot and this is first time to have such a negative experience when it comes to check out. Overall reception staff is not very welcoming and not suited to be the "face" of this otherwise charming hotel.
The breakfast was good, nice variety of food. Dinner was also very delicious and nice atmosphere. There is one "gaming" room which has a shuffleboard which was very fun to play. Spa was nice and clean (it comes with additional cost). Room was clean and bed vas comfortable.

Sweden- Oatly and milk at breakfast had switched signs. - Smashed almond croissants could have used some actual almonds. - Staff left the bed for ourselves instead of setting it up for us. What difference does it make to do ourselves except effort?
