Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta, Iceland, Australia, Greece, Brazil and North Carolina. For properties in these regions, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.

IndonesiaSo far, I was happy with this hostel.
I liked the atmosphere and positive vibes they offered to their guests. I met two new friends during my stay at Nomad Gardet. The staff were also nice and warm. When I arrived there, at night, we watched the film together. Later I know, that was a "movie night". They prepared popcorn as well. The room I stayed was also nice and clean. Goof job, Nomad Gardet!

GermanyI booked a twin room with own bathroom, the room was spacious but needs a small table for working/writing. The bathroom stinks . I think problem with the drainage. They provided an air freshener (spay) inside but only helped temporary. They said they are renovating the kitchen but I didn’t see anyone working for the renovation. The last day we stayed there, had trouble with the system with opening the doors- however the staffs were really approachable, thoughtful and helpful.
The hostel was near the Center with one bus ride. The Bus stop is exactly in front of the hostel.

United KingdomCooking facilities pretty basic. And, nothing to do with the hostel, but 1) the inability of other guests to put down their phones and actually engage with their fellow travellers 2)other guests playing videos on their phones at full volume without headphones. Just rude really!
The manager Christian, and other hostel staff were very helpful and friendly. The (private) room was clean, quiet and fairly spacious. The location was safe & within reach of a few small restaurants and supermarkets and about 30 mins walk to the Tallink ferry to Turku, & 15 mins to the Gardet metro.

SwedenI would prefer to have toilets outside the room. Also it was under construction so there was basically no kitchen only a small common place. Also they could add good pillows, these pillows were empty, hard to sleep.
I like the black out curtains in each bed for sleeping and privacy. They are set up very well.

Very nice staff, communal area that encouraged conversation with people you didn’t know before. Curtains at the beds giving at least some privacy in the room (a dorm, is still a dorm). Rooms had their own bathrooms. Clean. Nice, albeit somewhat remote location with decent public transportation into the city center (I walked there upon arrival; also doable (depending on how much you otherwise intend to walk).
