Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomRenting bed sheets is compulsory. Beds were super squeaky and the room door was closing super loudly which is unpleasant in a room with so many occupants. You can easily get lost inside the hostel.
It was clean, they had free pasta, there was a lot of space to hang out with others and luggage storage. The staff was polite and the location was perfect.

GermanyThere are some minor things I’d like to mention: - The bunk beds can be quite noisy/shaky and you should secure your stuff. I had an upper bed and dropped my phone two times. - They have different entry codes for each day, which can get a bit tricky. - There could’ve been more activity offers. From the two I’ve seen in a week only one did happen. - The breakfast didn’t have any vegan options, but it was optional and you had to pay for it anyways. - You have to pay extra for the linen, and also extra for a towel (60 SEK for both in total). - And last: This hostel is maybe not the best place to socialize. I met some really nice people there, but it lacks a cozy and central common room. Kitchen and "living room" are in the basement, thus quite dark with no sunlight. The living room atmosphere was quite reserved. I preferred the reception area, but it’s closed at 8 pm.
I really enjoyed my stay in this hostel. It is located close to the main shopping street and city center is in walking distance. The hostel covers two floors (main + basement) of an old building, which are quite labyrinthine and fun to explore. You have to leave your shoes at the entrance, so it’s very clean and staff is very ambitious on keeping it like that. Also I sensed some awareness of sustainability, e. g. they care about garbage separation and use cotton towels instead of paper ones. I booked an eight bed dorm and had some doubts about that, but it was surprisingly nice. The room was equipped with aircon, okayish bunk beds and enough space for hanging/storing things. There are multiple bathrooms and showers spread across the floors and all have their little unique style. The kitchen was also nice, clean and well equipped. They even offered a box with free pasta! But the best thing was the free sauna. Further there were two activities during the week to get you started (music quiz and bike ride). In the courtyard there was a stage from the bar next door with some really nice bands. All in all I had a great time and many nice encounters!

FinlandThe rooms were in two different floors. There were stairs to go downstairs and because we were not supposed to wear shoes, they were quite slippery with socks. Be careful with that haha!
The rooms and shared spaces were very comfortable. The layout of the establishment worked well. There was good space for cooking and just haning out with friends. I came to sweden for a concert and the common spaces were excellent to find new people to talk to.

United KingdomThe bunk beds are a touch noisy when you move, and this is definitely a party type hostel if that is your sort of thing.
A very good location in regards to the famous City Hall. Very friendly staff helped me out of hours to get me a towel. Good showering facilities and a comfortable bed.

It was a great way to meet people from across the globe. I liked the fact that people could donate their food when they were done with it. It helped me keep my travel costs down. Great location

PortugalUnfortunately, the noise isolation was not the best. Some people in the next room were having a conversation quite late in the night, so it was hard to get a sleep.

MexicoIf you're traveling light you'll be ok, but the only thing I didn't like is that to go to some of the dorms you have to go through a lot of stairs, so it's really difficult to go in and out if you have a big suitcase, as it was my case.
The staff was super nice, the location is excellent as it's super close to the center and the metro station. The area feels safe and you have a lot of options for food and shopping. You need a code to enter different areas, which feel safe and also convenient as you can enter any time you need to.
