“Everything was good, situation was fantastic, walk out the front of the hotel, across the road and get on a ferry and into the centre of Stockholm in an hour. Perfect. Had a sea view room with balcony, always something going on to take your attention.”
“Lars' holiday home (right next to his own home) was advertised as being cosy and that's exactly what it is. We read the details carefully so knew before we arrived that the space was compact. It's prefect for 2 adults (and a couple of children). The kitchen is very small but better equipped than many larger properties in which I've stayed. We loved sitting out on the deck, BBQing in the evening and seeing the occasional deer. Being able to walk through the woods to the amazing Artipelag museum and enjoy the art, the boardwalks and the great cafe, was a real bonus. And I'm now a real convert to open air showering!”
“Located close to the main road, although without any noticeable noise intrusion from traffic, requiring just a short drive to Kapellskar to catch the ferry.
The property is fairly functional, perhaps in need of a little external redecoration and smartening up, although internally everything was clean and tidy. There is adequate car parking adjacent to the hotel although a small fee is charged. Rapid EV charging is also available in the adjoining vehicle service area.
It was necessary to ring a bell at reception to announce our arrival although the member of staff who subsequently appeared and greeted us was very friendly and helpful. The same can be said of her colleague with whom we checked out the following morning; apart from these 2 members of staff we had no interaction with any other staff.
Our room was reasonably spacious, with a comfortable bed and a couple of well-upholstered chairs in which to relax. A kettle, with tea and coffee making facilities, was also provided.
We were able to open the window for ventilation; it was not clear whether there was any other method, for example air-con, for regulating the temperature.
The curtains did not provide total black-out although they were adequate for our one night stay.
The bathroom, with a shower over a bath, served our needs, with decent water pressure and a good range of temperature.
There was a good range of items at the continental breakfast which was tasty and fulfilled our requirements for a good start to the day. Evening meals are available although we had already eaten by the time of our arrival so we are unable to comment regarding these.”
“A lot of breakfast options (both sweet and continental), the atmosphere and the chance to visit the fortress, the private bathtub, the location, using bikes for a couple of hours for free”
