  • Dukes Corner Guest House Review score: 8

“Good location: ca. 12 mins easy walking to the river front, and ca. 15-20 mins to Campahna train & bus station (in case you want to dash out for a day visit to, say, Braga, Coimbra or Guimaraes). OK breakfast with decent choice (on the first morning we even were offered made-at-request omelette; not on the second morning though...).”

  • The Poets Inn Review score: 10

    “Great location. Lovely room.”

  • “Staying here was pure joy! Looking out over the Douro and vineyards was delightful. Patricia and her family were so welcoming, providing wine and food as well as local recommendations, which were fabulous, too. The accommodation is very comfortable and unique. Would love to return and highly recommend.”

  • CASA CAMÉLIA Review score: 10

“What a beautiful place, the owner renovated recently and he did a fantastic job. Our hotel was the highlight our trip, we spent a lot of time enjoying the view from our room and the hotel gardens. The staff is also super kind! They made us feel VIP when we checked in super late in the evening, with welcome notes, baby bed/toy set up, and flowers in our room. What a lovely place! Can’t say enough. We went with a 4 year old and having the gardens of the hotel to run around and play was perfect.”

    “Very central location and spacious.”

  • Casa dos Lóios by Shiadu Review score: 10

“This eclectic hotel is located in the centre of the old part of Porto and is within walking distance of most of the tourist sites. There are lots of great restaurants, a laundromat and a supermarket in the street behind the hotel. My single room was tucked away in an adjoining building on the 3rd floor. It required a journey through, around and behind a variety of structures and passages. I didn't mind because the circuitous journey is furnished with some interesting art pieces and collectibles which added interest and charm. My room was narrow with a fridge on the lower level and the bedroom and bathroom up a wooden staircase. It looked over roofs covered with terracotta tiles. The room was narrow but comfortable. I think that most rooms are different, owing to the uniqueness of the property and the way it has been renovated. I peered into the main bedroom of the house and it was impressive (photo). There were lots of pastries on offer for breakfast (a Portuguese staple, it seems) and more conventional European breakfast items. The breakfast was good and the staff were friendly, spoke good English and were extremely helpful”
