It was a minor inconvenience to have to call and wait for a security guard to drive over to let us in when we arrived (at the scheduled time). My biggest concern is that the hotel's Booking .com account had been hacked, and all of us received multiple messages -- IN our booking.com chat window with the hotel -- attempting to steal credit card information. The message was that we needed to supply a credit card to complete the reservation (which had already been done). But because it came through the site, at least one of us (me) fell for it, and I had to cancel my card promptly. I reported this to the hotel and booking.com weeks before we traveled, and we still got the phishing messages again, as late as a few days before we traveled. I don't know where the breakdown occurred, but I honestly don't intend to use booking.com again. There is clearly some kind of security problem.

Comfortable room, if a bit cramped for two people who aren't partners. Very nice balcony. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The location is perfect for exploring Machico, a very easy walk to the beach and restaurants.

Breakfast had a very poor choice of food and low-quality/cheap products (like cheese, fruits, etc.) We choose this hotel for good reviews about breakfast but the reality was very disappointing.

The rooms aren’t aesthetically appealing.

It’s very close to the airport, so it works for a 1 night stay. Also, there is a beach and a few restaurants nearby. The hotel facilities themselves are pretty basic, but it serves the purpose.

The location was closer to the airport than I had imagined which meant there quite a few planes coming in and out. There is also no pools of water nearby, except for an imported sand beach with wave breakers in walking distance... not really comparable to the back sand volcanic beaches you can find in the north west side of the island.

Staff were friendly and accommodating to our needs e.g., providing us with a kettle on request. The breakfast was really good too. Also there's a lovely man named Carlos across from the hotel who deals in car rentals, and provides parking as well as great deals. Lastly, there's lots of local amenities and some superb restruants just a stones throw away.

Amazing value for a comfortable, clean, friendly hotel. Very good breakfast buffet with fried eggs, bacon, cold meats, cheeses, yogurt, fresh fruit, juices, rolls and bread. Terrific location a block from the beach, and the town of Machico itself was a very pleasant surprise: scenic, lots of great eateries, pristine clean, and a wonderful beach.

The hotel is in need of a serious renovation rooms-wise. I understand that many of the hotels by the beach do not have air conditioning, however a fan is a must? At the very least a ceiling fan in each room is needed. The furniture and bathroom features are outdated as well.

The location of the hotel is exceptional! A block away from the beach, what else could one want? The last that checked us in was super friendly, nice and helpful with all our needs and questions.

There is no air conditioning. The decor is run down and outdated. We were shamed for asking for a corkscrew, because the owner didn’t want us to spill wine on the old stained carpet.

There weren’t a lot of options. The breakfast was decent.

New carpet would improve the aesthetic of the room due to its staining however did present as clean.

The location is fantastic, right in the heart of the main area. The staff were very kind, friendly and helpful. Martha became aware we were checking out early to go to airport and offered a box breakfast for us. The room was simple yet clean with a beautiful bathroom! I enjoyed a luxury soak in the reclining tub. The water pressure was perfect for the shower.
