Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.

United KingdomTowels changed daily despite us hanging them up which was nice but not very sustainable and still using throw away toiletries rather than larger fixed bottles. We were disappointed with the hotel facilities - there was a small bar and breakfast area but bar was closed on two of the four nights we are there. Not really anywhere to sit if you wanted to be in the hotel but not in your room and not sure the website reflected this.
We didn't book breakfast as it seemed expensive and there were plenty of cafes in the location. Room was a reasonable size for central city location. Large bottles of water replenished daily. Staff were pleasant.

United KingdomSmall things - could have better storage in room - no drawer space, bar area was only open one night of our three night stay despite advertised happy hour, no drying facilities for towels - only one hook in bathroom, and no kettle/ other alternatives to coffee pods and no milk. All very minor but good to know!
Excellent location, very clean, comfortable room (beds and pillows!). Very close to lots of public transport, attractions, restaurants and cafe/bars.

United KingdomBedrooms are quite small, the room is advertised as having sound proof walls but in reality the walls were paper thin. We could hear rustling in the room next to us. Hotel is rated 4 stars but can only provide complimentary tap water. Bed blanket had stains on.
The hotel is in a great location, super close to restaurants and bars. Foyer was clean and staff were friendly.

SwitzerlandPaper thin walls. You can hear a lot through these walls (people showering, talking etc. among other things). One time I had my TV turned on (around 11.30pm) at a very low volume and still, I received a call from the reception telling me that my neighbor was complaining about it.

South AfricaThere was a room service menu in my room, but when I phoned for room service I was told that they don't do room service. I did not have the breakfast option included in my stay. I went downstairs to the breakfast area every morning to get a coffee. There were a few teabags and instant coffee in my room (and a kettle), but no milk, only a cup without a saucer and no spoon. I had to go downstairs to ask for milk every time i made tea.
The room was perfect for one person. The bathroom and everything was very clean. I loved the location of the hotel and it was within walking distance of the Alfama, the river, the shopping area and many restaurants. I would live to stay there again.

I liked the whole set up. Location, friendly Reception Staff with excellent knowledge and advise regarding Lisbon, nothing was too hard for the Team. Where can you get a breakfast like that, it was superb, a credit to the Chef. The room was well set up with all the requirements one would need. We shall return to the same Hotel and to see more of fabulous Lisbon.

United KingdomThe bathroom door was annoying and didn't have a lock. The maid kept on forgetting to refill the water. Most annoying was that there was no sofa in reception - nowhere to sit except for one chair! That is ridiculous for a hotel of this calibre.
The location was fantastic, the best. The room was clean, though fairly small. The front desk staff were kind. They even sent wine and cake on my partners birthday.

IcelandWell, an outdoor yard or garden would be nice, but I guess its near to impossible to fit it into the present building site.
The location is brilliant. Not only the closeness to the old town, but the fact that it is on level ground. That's pretty rare in Lisbon, like the locals say, distances are short but mostly up or down.

The location was great, right in the centre of the oldest part of the city,. The room was of a good standard, and the breakfasts were great. The breakfast room was also the bar area for the remainder of the day as it also some comfortable chairs in, just right to take the weight off your feet after a lot of walking around the streets of the old town.
