Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta, Iceland, Australia, Greece, Brazil and North Carolina. For properties in these regions, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United StatesI had some laundry done by the resort and the cost was really high, and the clothes didnt come out very clean.
The most amazing benefit of staying here is having the gardens and hot springs to yourself when the park closes. It was magnificent. But that is definitely reflected in the cost to stay!

United KingdomAbsolutely fantastic location in the Parque Terra Nostra. As guests of the hotel you have access to the park and the thermal pool 24/7. Whilst it doesn't look very inviting, the thermal pool is a must/highlight. The staff were extremely pleasant and helpful. The buffet breakfast was very good. We did not use the Spa or indoor pool so cannot comment. Parking is available at the front of the hotel (make sure you drive through the first barrier you arrive at). Is it expensive to stay here - yes! Is it worth it - definitely! Our favourite hotel during our trip to San Miguel. Highly recommended!

SwitzerlandThe indoor Spa fell a bit short of expectations and the sauna was extremely tiny.
Great park, well maintained and a real pleasure to walk through. Phantastic hot pools in the park. Very generous, comfortable and nice apartment with a lovely balcony to the park. Delicious breakfast and the dinner we had was excellent as well. Parking lot worked nicely and the staff was really friendly and helpful.

United KingdomThe rooms are very basic and dated shower was a little mouldy. I’d expect better for the price. But I think you’re paying for the gardens and pools.
The gardens and pools are amazing, especially after it’s closed to the public. You can get the whole pools to yourself. The breakfast is delicious and the evening meal was amazing. Great service and staff. The indoor pool and sauna are great. It was very quiet.

United StatesWe loved everything. However, children should not be allowed in the spa area, as it can get noisy.
We loved the location in downtown Furnas inside the Terra Nostra park, with direct access to the thermal pool and park. Breakfast and dinner were excellent and the staff very friendly.

United StatesIt was perfect.
Terra Nostra Garden Hotel was nothing short of exceptional. I booked because of the exclusive access to the botanical garden (and was so glad I did. It was a paradise!), but I was not expected to be blown away by the hotel. It was the best hotel stay I’ve ever had, from the staff, food, room, amenities to most importantly, the out of this world setting. Excellent value for the experience!

ItalyI spent there 3 nights and on a Saturday night there was very loud music coming from outside till 2am and I couldn’t sleep. I know it’s not the hotel fault but for a guest who wants to relax it’s pretty annoying.
Very nice hotel with the possibility to go in the park anytime. That’s the main point of this hotel especially with the jacuzzi in the park. The room was nice and clean. Good breakfast.

United StatesOne reason we went there was for the spa. They said the spa was under maintenance and was not open. They must’ve known us ahead of time or they could’ve told us ahead of time. Very disappointing. The staff was not very communicative, not letting us know about street closures, not letting us know. We need reservations ahead of time for dinner, not helping us out when we could not get into dinner, not being able to tell us whether the spa would be open or not .

United KingdomThe service was a little slow when we ate in The garden bar and terrace. The thermal pool was closed for maintenance but it didn't spoil our trip.
Everything was perfect. We booked this hotel as a treat at the end of our trip around the islands and it did not disappoint. When we arrived we were upgraded to a garden room with balcony which was wonderful. The bed was huge and very comfortable. The staff were so attentive. Breakfast was incredible. Every food you could possibly want. We even got a breakfast box to take to the airport as we had to check out very early on our last day. We loved the indoor pool when it was raining and obviously spent a lot of time in the gardens. This was a very relaxing few days before we had to fly home.

United StatesUnfortunately, the public baths in the garden were closed... booo.... but the jacuzzis were open, which were very warm and nice especially once closed to the public. Very very nice hotel, but quite expensive.
Breakfast buffet that was included was tasty with plenty of options. Parking was free, which was nice - a car is certainly necessary in Sao Miguel. Room was awesome, cleaned multiple times per day. Indoor pool was excellent. Bar attached to hotel had delicious sandwiches.

United StatesThe location is perfect as it gives you access to the Terranos garden. And it’s lovely to be able to be there and walk around in the morning and evening when it’s less crowded. Other thing that stood out was the amazing staff. The front desk was incredibly helpful and we had terrific servers. One server in particular Carlos really went out of his way to make helpful suggestions to us. We were lucky enough to have him tonight, and he was one of the best servers I’ve ever had. I highly recommend this hotel.
