Some of the staff assisting at breakfast rarely smiled and this made us feel uncomfortable given the language barrier.

The location of the hotel is superb even though this meant walking up and down many steps and steep roads! Our room felt like a suite with high ceilings, wardrobe located outside the bedroom, and a separate bathroom. Views of the castle next door were excellent and seeing the peacocks was a real bonus. Breakfast was relaxing and well provided. Staff at reception was extremely welcoming and helpful. Access to constant tea, coffee, cakes and champagne was brilliant.

You could not fault the hotel.

Everything! Despite arriving in the morning, my room was ready, and I was checked in early. Very friendly and professional staff, who go out of their way to ensure a pleasant stay. The hotel is beautiful, and I loved the peacocks walking around the ground. Complimentary tea, coffee, and cake during the day and evening prossecco were well received. The hotel is extremely comfortable, and a good night's sleep was enjoyed due to the peaceful location.

The staff were incredibly helpful and nice. The gentleman who checked us in (forgot his name) was extremely helpful. There was complimentary snacks, pastries, drinks (alcohol and non-alcoholic) available throughout the day and into the night which was very nice. Breakfast was also nice. Room was very good as well. Location was nice, although it's in an area where Ubers/Bolt and non-residents can't get directly to the hotel. You would need to arrange a taxi to get right or the Uber would drop you off lower ground as there is a barrier preventing non-resident drivers to go up the hill. Warning - it's on top of a hill - so expect a bit of a hike up if arriving via public transport/foot.

A view from the terrace might have been nice, but that's a minor. It's a really great hotel.

Service was fantastic. Really lovely calming experience after the heat and rushing around of in the city.

Alfama has extremely narrow streets as they were planned centuries ago so some taxis are not always happy to traverse the streets. The breakfast, though I was satisfied with it, was not outstanding.

The hotel was very charming and perfectly reflected Alfama history as the hotel itself was a repurposed structure that was once part of the castle. Of course, the interior decor was fresh and had all the modern comforts. The rooms were spacious and had beautiful views overlooking the interior courtyard. Breakfast was served indoors and outdoors. Sparkling wine was available in the common area / living room in the late afternoons. The hotel staff was accommodating and friendly. It was extremely helpful that the hotel offered transportation to the hotel upon arrival.

It is a long downhill walk to downtown and only permitted taxis are allowed to drop you off in front of the hotel.

Great location to the Castle and the architectural style has a historic feel too it. The morning brunch style is fabulous with variety. The evenings are quiet due to limited vehicles and the cool evening breeze is a bonus too. Many good restaurants with views to choose for your meals.

The room we were given was clean but quite dark and had a damp smell to it. The hotel is also quite pricey, but then again so are most accommodations in Lisbon. Would have been nice with a fridge in the room.

Loved the house and patio! Location is amazing right in Alfama and next to the castle with peacocks roaming around. Staff was friendly and even surprised me with a bottle of wine for my birthday. Breakfast was lovely with lots of delicious pastries. The free ride from the airport was very convenient.
